  • Since this is a history and travel channel, I reluctantly visited the gravesite of someone who made history for all the wrong reasons.
    I'll let you, the viewer, decide if you want to join me on this trip.

    I find it ironic that a man who thought that he was special and so different from everyone else, a man who did not want to be ordinary, ended up being buried in a public mausoleum. He ended up just like everyone else. A name on a wall.

    As awful as things some people do, many still have family members who love them. So I’m not surprised or offended by this at all. Family members shouldn’t be expected to just stop loving someone because of their awful actions. I think it’s very sad when family members of these people are punished for what their family member did.

    • @TheGraveyardChannel
      @TheGraveyardChannel  5 років тому +10

      That's a very good point that most of us tend to forget. The family is often punished for the sins of their family members, which is not fair. I only wish I could visit the graves of the victims, but only one, that I know of, has a grave and I'm not sure if I'll ever get back east to visit.

They say that they can't control it which makes me interested in the psychological aspect of it. I try to imagine myself in their shoes but it's hard doing that considering if I were committing these acts because of the"need" to then whatthe neck do I do but turn myself in to prevent me from continuing. There is no niche. The ashes were “guest” inside another family’s chapel: Coccini family, friends of the Versace family. Both the families had a villa in Moltrasio. ... Sadly, soon someone tried to steal the ashes, so Versace family took them to Gianni’s villa. Years later, the family sold Gianni’s villa, and took away Gianni’s ashes.

    I grew up Catholic in the 1960s. My father had a good friend he grew up with and had maintained a friendship with him. I remember going over to his friend's house on more than one occasion. One day, my father received a phone call saying that his friend had committed suicide. The day of his funeral, I asked my parents about the funeral Mass. My mom explained that there was no Mass or burial in a Catholic cemetery because he took his own life. I guess times have changed for burial in a Catholic cemetery in that not only had Cunanan take his own life but he had also taken the lives of others as well. My parents always told me that money was the root of all evil and it seems that Cunanan's desire for wealth and fame came at a terrible cost.

    Your decision to make this video was not bad at all. Obviously, Life is made up of good and bad. Anyone who only wants to see the good is not dealing with the totality of Life. Psychopathology is part of that totality. I like your mentality of viewing a TV show or movie and then taking action yourself to further investigate or expand on the subject. Please keep up the good work.

    What he did was horrible, and he deserves to be there.
    That being said, I’ve always been SUPER interested in his story. It’s so crazy to me how this all went down. His whole story, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, and it all ended when he fittingly shot himself in the head. He was the one who controlled how the story was gonna end. When he made the lightning quick choice to commit suicide, right then and there he ended one of the most intense manhunts in US History. His actions are despicable, because it’s often overlooked that he killed 4 others, some in very violent ways, but the STORY and how it all went down and how it all ended has always deeply intrigued me

    He was born five years and 21 days after me. This last August he would have turned 49 . Too bad after the first person he murdered his life could have never been restored. Very unlikely. And certainly not with the psychotic momentum he was careening forward with. Poor guy, you can really tell what happened to him. Criss does a great job at expressing how disturbed his upbringing made him, his dad did a real number on his head. I'm glad he had the courage to kill himself and did not let the law subject him to a life time of jail psychological torture. It's just a f**ked up world! Isn't it?
    One time hitchhiking, I met someone in Hawaii driving with his girlfriend, he gave me and my dog a ride home... While we were driving in the best of spirits while we were talking about related life aspects, not sinisterly or anything, just plain sincerely he confessed he had killed someone on the mainland some years before. I was shocked, but I could tell he really was trying to regain his soul, to not be haunted by it. He was trying to be a good person, almost too hard. He should have just kept it to himself. His girlfriend knew about it and seemed compassionately understanding about it. I trusted him, I would have been their friend... had I continued to see them. But that was the last time I did.
    I think we would all be very surprised if just walking around town, there was a little light hovering above the heads of everyone who has killed someone in their lives. They're all around. Many people don't get caught.

    • @TheGraveyardChannel
      @TheGraveyardChannel  5 років тому +3

      Thanks for sharing that. Hopefully the driver was just trying to shock you and was just making that story up. Sometimes people just like to get a reaction out of other people. I think Criss just won an Emmy for his performance. He was very believable!

      @@karenanderson8943 Karen, I'm not trying to convince you of anything.
      It's not just about whether you or anyone judges or deems person's childhood was "good" or "bad". There is specific behavior by our parents and treatment of our children that have direct effects, often unperceived by outsiders to the family; well defined actions upon also very specifically describable personality traits created in the child over years, in combination to what natural personality he or she was born with. Then there are the effects and influences created by the treatment, by the behavior and even the statements of others, starting with the siblings. This was a family with little empathetic compassion for one another. You can tell by listening to the siblings and parents later being interviewed. There are also cultural and even entertainment influences, that depending on the level of realistic perception honed in the child's mind growing up may be taken more or less seriously and actually believed while other ones reasoned with irrelevancy, in other words, inner faulty conclusions that 'these movie and tv scenarios' are the way the world is supposed to be. Of course this is not normally what happens, but in some cases when the child is brought up in phony impersonal detachments and their need to learn from their parents starts becoming satisfied by things their parents point at, like tv shows or novel like narrations of strangers, those can start becoming stronger guides than what the family's life around the child should be.
      The point I'm making Karen is that the world makes us, and is responsible for nearly all the things that we end up believing. I'm not trying to establish whether he should be hanged or not here. That's unfortunately one of our society's strongest personality traits. What I'm saying is that we need to understand much better what we do to people as a society and as a civilization, be more accountable for it, and develop intelligent ways of healing and recuperating our people, rather than just hang them. We should be much more accountable for our citizens and fellow human beings, rather than quick to condemn them.
      ~ If you have the patience to get through my language meandering, and terrible grammar skills, and can hang on for nearly the hour it takes, what I'm trying to convey to you is in a video I made, you're welcomed to watch on my own youtube channel. It's called:
      Talk 3. Never being required a failing set up, has always been a truer possibility.

      @@Patrick.Edgar.Regini thank you for the insight Patrick. I'm just sick and tired of the blame game in this society. its tv,the parents,the schools, etc. when others are unaffected by the same influences it's time to take accountability for ones actions. the guy murdered an innocent man as he walked home, then tried to elude capture. that is not the behavior i'd expect from a truly "ill" person. perhaps he was just a jerk.

    I definetly remember the story of Andrew, I was a teenager at the time, but I remember seeing all the tv news stations were on him, and he had the US under constant fear while he was on the loose, but law enforcement were also very inept and lousy at their job in trying to catch him, and thanks to that he was able to catch up to Versace and gun him down before he took his own life. Also, wonder what happened to Andrew's father, does anyone know if he's even still alive? I only heard that he got accused and charged with some financial fraud/crime, and fled the US to avoid jail and prosecution.
