It was ruined the moment you moved there..... Idiots like you never realize that people before you probably thought the same about you/your relatives moving there. The native Americans that used to live there I'm sure would like their land back.
If you move here, good luck in trying to find a descent paying job. It's expensive to live here and if you plan in buying a home, get ready to donate a kidney for the down payment, unless you want to live in the slumps like Oceano or Santa Maria. It's nice to visit but developers are tearing up the place with new homes and hotels. They are ruining this place and will not be surprised if it becomes a mini-Los Angeles or mini-San Francisco in about 20 years from now. Traffic is getting worse and we don't have the infrastructure to support it. Our resources here are also getting scarce. The lake levels that feed water to the communities are extremely low but developers keep building.....smart move city leaders. Pathetic!
Update to my previous comment: Oceano and Santa Maria have been gentrified like crazy. It's no longer the "hood" that many people remembered it as 10-15 years ago. Even Nipomo turned into a posh town for rich snobs.
All I'm saying is if you're gonna stop in SLO, Hit up Fire Stone Grill for a Tri-Top Sandwich or WoodStocks for a pizza then go shop down town and grab a record at Booboos or Cheap Thrills! 👌🏽

I live in Texas. I visited the central coast for a work trip and was in love with the place. We had tri tip at several restaurants and it was always excellent. Fortunately, my grocery store does carry tri tip. I don't have the correct pit to cook it in the traditional way. What I do is smoke it over oak for an hour or so and then put it in a covered cast iron with on cut up onion at 225 in the oven for about six hours. It just falls apart. I then take the resulting broth and make chili gravy enchilada sauce and then make shredded trip tip enchiladas. My friends down here on the Mexican border of Texas are blown away.
I was born and raised in SLO. The only exciting thing about SLO was when the family did road trips outside of SLO to either San Francisco or LA. SLO was boring.

People who are saying they wish they could live here, then why don't you? My fiancé and I would vacation here during college and wanted to move here so after we graduated we did. Best decision of our lives. SLO is the happiest place to live in America. Little to no crime (I'm from the Bay Area so this was a big thing for me), 70 degrees year round, 20 minute drive to 7 different beaches, great places to eat, fantastic downtown slo. Just can't beat it anywhere.
Michael Montero i want to transfer to cal poly slo once i finish JC, and do you by chance know if i could live and survive there (say living in a studio) with some decent money? I also wanted to know if there is some cultural or ethnic diversity there... because based on this video, there doesn't seem a lot. Plus I have the feeling that a lot of old people live there and you know, like statistics show, there's a higher chance that elder people like Donald trump lol...
Michael Montero i live in slo currently and I really really hate it. The city has horrible feeling to it that really makes me feel depressed. I prefer Santa Barbara much much more. Oh and there's plenty of crime here in slo, not to mention NOT A SINGLE DRIVE THROUGH RESTAURANT. Slo truly sucks.
every time i'm in SLO i feel my heart rate and blood pressure go down. I'm relaxed and mellow and at peace. Just love this area.

@@UIgnorantprick 😔 SLO still loves ya(!)

I passed through this city back in 90's and fell in with it, if it was not for California high taxes that was the place I wanted to live.
