  • This is a walking tour to downtown San Luis Obispo California. We start out on Higuera street then walk across to Marsh Street. Every Thursday there is a a Farmers market and it just happens I was here on a Thursday in “SLO” as the locals like to call it!

    I will proudly state that this is my town and living here is like heaven! You did a great job with the video. There are actually fish in the creek. Last week, we celebrated a birthday with a whale watching tour out of Avila Beach (just minutes from SLO) and it was the absolute BEST day. We watched whales, porpoises and sea lions for hours! I love this place SO much! ❤️ The local people are incredibly warm, friendly, (mostly) sane and well-educated.

    Well since I lived here for over 40 years and San Luis Obispo is what you call a liberal democrat town and if you're Republican you're not welcome here. It used to be a red conservative town and a much more nicer place to live 20 years ago versing today which you got a bunch of leftists who destroyed the town's design attitude and morality. We got crazy bike lanes now (since bicycles are the transportation of the liberals), rainbow crosswalks, blm symbols and etc flags it's just completely ridiculous now versing years ago. The town has been ruined by these leftists that are running the city council, city employees, and also SLO chamber are nothing but a bunch of leftists.
    It is a shame to see how bad it's gotten here. A lot of people that have lived here over the years saying look at what the millennials have done to San Luis Obispo, it's very simple they ruined it. And that mayor Heidi Harmon she is completely ruined this town with her left-wing etiology policies. She turned it into a welcome city opening up the flood lines with illegal immigrants, she disconnected gas lines, she proposed these crazy bicycle Lanes all over the place, eliminating parking downtown, she supported crazy protest downtown and ride it with the protesters, she's separated the town that Cal poly comes first not the residents, she ramped up homelessness we have people living on the streets and in the RVs everywhere and etc
    The person that did this video need to see a flashback of what it was like here in 2004 and prior that so he can get a rough idea how much has changed and the people have changed. This is a Bernie Sanders Town and it's pathetic

    • @Tendertroll1
      @Tendertroll1 Рік тому

      That’s really unfortunate to hear. I was thinking about starting a business there, but I heard that the homeless population is going up and the city is opening up shelters. Do you think it’s a good idea to start a restaurant business there?

    • @pacificbuildingcare
      @pacificbuildingcare Рік тому

      @@Tendertroll1 not sure, there's no parking. They taken 3 traffic lanes to 2 lanes then 2 lanes to 1 lane. The roads are congested as carrier's like FedEx UPS USPS DHL and even firetrucks and ambulances are all have to take shortcuts to bypass roads now. The locals just don't go downtown anymore it's all based on tourism now. I wish the town wasn't political on both sides but I rather a have a neutral downtown instead as that would be a given but it's not happening here. Two years ago we had protests everywhere downtown that went on and the businesses downtown got broken windows and spray paint of BLM lgbtq all sorts of crazy things (and the City Hall and the chamber of commerce supported the protest) on businesses and business owners were threatened if they didn't post posters or flyers on their businesses they would receive no business or they could suffer unexpected crime in front of their business, that is the attitude of the downtown and it's sad because I grew up here since 1978. I've seen the town in its prime but now it's all stacking pack housing, homeless living in front of businesses at night, the police department unwilling to take care of the problem, it's almost a selected business community such as the chamber of commerce whether you agree with the chamber or not if you don't agree with the chamber of commerce you're not welcome to do business downtown like Animal Farm, all businesses are equal, but some businesses are more equal than others, that's perception of the business downtown and city hall.
      It was a nice place to do business but it's impossible to get customers how the city designed that's bottleneck the roads and has decided in favor of the special interest vs. small mom-and-pop businesses there left on the side, it's just not the same in my view.

There was a restaurant in San Luis Obispo called Moe's BBQ it was a great place it closed down about six weeks ago and no one knows why but it was a fact of lost business parking and customers were dwindling because of the downtown problem. They do have a restaurant in Pismo Beach though and Pismo Beach is not so political even though it's about 12 mi away from San Luis Obispo you may want to consider Pismo Beach.
