    I have this phone and I love it. I can replace the battery when ever it gets low with a charged one. Before this I had the XCover, and I had no real problems but I wanted more memory so I now have a XCover 6 and I am very happy with it. I am a auto Technician.

    If this thing had a flagship grade camera and a bigger sized battery, it'd be the "only phone you ever need" - but they can't have that can they - how else will they incentivize you to throw away your perfectly working phone after the battery goes out

      @@50shadesofbeige88Rugged phones are way better than flagships. I don't know any flagships which have the thermal camera capabilities And 20000 mAh battery like the Oukitel WP 19. Some rugged phones from blackview offers Fast reverse and fast wireless charging and they take amazing pictures in broad daylight. Since apple fanboys brag about iPhones so called photography capabilities, why there's no thermal camera on iPhones which are overpriced.
      I won't lie but with the Galaxy xcover 6, a snapdragon 778g, removable battery, a rugged body, a headphone jack, a micro SD card slot, this thing is brilliant , thank you Samsung 😊😊
      Another thing where flagships sucks, repairability. With rugged phones, they're screwed, not glued, same thing for their batteries making replacement hassle free

    Bought one a year ago, want to keep it for the next few years, after a year of heavy use with battery degradation it took less than 3 minutes to take it out of the otterbox, pop off the back, slap in a new fresh battery, and put it back together. Camera isn't great but meh not big into mobile photography to begin with, definitely still a great phone even in 2024.

    I have one of these. I bought it specifically for the replaceable battery. It is an excellent device. My only real conplaint is that the back seems a bit flimsy, and I had a very difficult time trying to buy a spare plastic back in the USA (there are web stores in Europe that sell them, but Samsung USA was useless when I tried to buy one here...I ended up ordering it from Europe and paying crazy shipping charges).

    • @50shadesofbeige88
      @50shadesofbeige88  Рік тому +2

      Yes, the back is flimsy, it's very similar to the back they used on the Galaxy S5. I wish they sold replacements for a reasonable price.

      @Alpha8713 Рік тому +1

      @@50shadesofbeige88 They really should just have a web store for parts, or at least a phone number to call to order parts. There seems to be no way to order this in the USA. Also, I haven't found a service manual yet. Still a good phone, though, and one of the best on the market right now.

    • @50shadesofbeige88
      @50shadesofbeige88  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on a service manual. 😂 Samsung does provide them to partners. Give the replacement parts a couple more months. Of course, Samsung will not sell them to consumers (although I wish they did), but salvage parts usually start hitting the market within a year or so of the phone being released. It's tough, because XCover is not super popular, so salvage parts will also be harder to get. I can get the batteries, the rear covers and the LCD assembly only.

      AMOLED is a broad term, but generally speaking it is by far the superior display technology. I am planning to buy this phone soon and I know that will be way better than my current phone. Together with full case protection like I did with this phone because there is no way can handle impact after another impact and many more. No need to risk my 600+ Euros for 30-40 euros case.

    • @50shadesofbeige88
      @50shadesofbeige88  8 місяців тому +1

      Charging is handled by the chipset on this phone. It is not software. I haven't had any complaints of heat issues while fast charging. 25W is nice to have in a pinch but, the beauty is, you can keep a charged spare battery ready to go. So if you want to leave it disabled it's no big deal. 15W is a little slow in 2023 though.

      I prefer it to the other rugged offerings, mainly because of Samsung's software ecosystem. You can get other rugged devices for less, but for example: The Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2 runs basically a stock Android rom.. to the point where you have to download FK if you want to manage local files. Also, since we use Knox and InTune for MDM, the Knox hardware gives us more robust security and management options outside of the standard Android Enterprise API. Also, Samsung guarantees 3 years of major updates + 5 years of security updates (may vary depending on the market) this is huge since I work in the defense industry and STIG compliance is a must.

    • @Luredreier
      @Luredreier Рік тому

      @@50shadesofbeige88 Well, the software doesn't really matter, I'd replace it with open source software regardless of the phone.
      It's the hardware and how easy it is to replace the software that I'm interested in.

    I dont remember exactly but Samsung rugged phones have been out for years now. The problem is that these phones are delegated to a lower level of importance of Samsung's phone lines. The other thing is the extra batties can get pricey since they probably dont make that many of them. Its not like the days when I had my Galaxy Note 4 and there are so many different aftermarket battery I could buy. I think some of Samsung budget phones have removable batteries too.

    • @50shadesofbeige88
      @50shadesofbeige88  Рік тому +1

      I understand your concern, and it's certainly not without reason. Modern XCover phones share the same battery and pogo pin layout. There are many listings on Amazon for replacement batteries and the cost is around $20 for just the battery. As far as Samsung neglecting them, I don't think that's something to worry about. They do make a lot of them, they are targeted at the B2B market, that's why you don't see them often. My company has an SLA with Samsung Electronics America that guarantees we will have support through 2027. All of the Enterprise models get monthly security updates and there is a roadmap for the XCover6 Pro to get major OS upgrades through Android 15. Even the older models like the XCover 4s, still get security updates despite being beyond the average lifecycle of an enterprise device. I'm not saying this phone is for everyone. If headphone jack and user replaceable battery are key features, it's a very good option considering the software ecosystem Samsung provides.

    • @tamwilfred
      @tamwilfred Рік тому +1

      @@50shadesofbeige88 Thank you for the info. It's good to know that Samsung's sales pitch to B2B is to honor the long life of OS and security updates.
