I love that you just uploaded an updated skincare routine. You are so up to date with the trends every time I wonder something we always get an official Dr. Dray comment on it. Starting to think you’re also a omnipresent psychic helping the worlds skin concerns. 🥰
Yay! Thank you!
I don’t have problems applying it. It doesn’t clump at all. It gives really nice look on your skin, not too dewy and not matte. It is totally my favorite sunscreen, right now!
Similar to me as well, it's working for me except for some pilling 😬
I bought this sunscreen after the Gothamista raved about. I find it goes on smoothly and gives my medium toned olive skin a nice glow without any cast. I will definitely repurchase.
Seems like it has a very disappointing performance given the price point, how unfortunate.
Well said - and I tried the Cerave tinted and it was a bad cast. I totally agree with you about companies being more transparent about what it looks like when rubbed. It’s a very expensive sunscreen with good ingredients but not worth the money. Thanks for this review! Almost bought it! I’m just happy sunscreen is now being more inclusive but I’m hoping they can truly work mineral out granted Purito unscented chemical one is my jam and it has helped me use sunscreen feverishly to address hyperpigmentation.
For that cost and that size it better make my skin look like glass.
Thanks for the honest review.
Coppertone’s Pure & Simple is a fraction of the price, a bigger size and much better.
40 lashes I used that as a body sunscreen! It’s great! I think it wouldn’t be great for dark skin tones but I think it’s really good - and very cost effective.
I am a nurse and I always read it as Versed the medication too 😂
Ahhhh! Jen Chapin! Love your videos and was elated to see you are doing Vlogust!!
Dr Dray Aw thanks so much!!
Every. Single. Time.
Me too! I can’t help but think of moderate sedation 😂
Yep, same here! 😆
$21.99 for 1.7 ounces of a drugstore sunscreen (or any sunscreen really) is insane. Is target trying to be Sephora now?
Ikr?! I found some nice Korean sunscreens online and they are way cheaper than that price even when the shipping fee is included.
菅原孝支の妻 Which of those sunscreens might be recommended?
@@GiuseppePascuale928 I have just ordered them. They are not in my hands yet. Slow shipping speed lol 🐢
GiuseppePascuale928 purito comfy water
@@Purple_haired_cleric some korean sunscreens have been rated low spf
I'm pale and can't stand mineral sunscreens. Can't imagine how frustrating it must be for darker skin tones
Same, I’m as pale as it gets and I find they are too white and chunky, if they’re too white for me I don’t understand how they can work on anyone
Brown/olive skin tone here. I did not ever realise nor did it ever occur to me that lighter skinned folks would have this problem too! It’s quite shocking. If it doesn’t work for you guys how the heck should it work for us?!
@@cocob0l0 I know, I recently tried a skinceuticals mineral spf that was pretty expensive but had to return it bc I looked like a ghost. Left a massive complaint about how this clearly was never tested on darker skins bc if it was it never would have been approved
Please please don’t use chemical sunscreens though. They are terrible for the environment and hurt coral reefs even if you are not swimming in the ocean they hurt the ecosystem when they go down the drain.
I'm sticking to my Elta MD UV Physical which has a perfect tint for my light skin tone, goes on like buttah 🧈🧈🧈, lasts all day, and doesn't pill when I reapply!
Does it contain iron oxides?
@@RachelJane101 Looks like zinc and titanium dioxide.
I tried it but it pilled when I reapply it 😔
@@RachelJane101 Anything with a tint has iron oxides. Including makeup. They're a pigment.
@@emeraldlaurel You will find iron oxides listed in the inactive ingredients.
Loving the content Dr Dray! Perhaps an odd request - would you be able to cover men's beards?
For instance, is the best way to clean just with your regular facial cleanser? Do beard oils do anything? Is minoxidil safe for use on the face?
I think it would make for an interesting video. Hope you're staying safe :)
See here’s the thing. When I tried this for the very first time I immediately thought I hated it. It seems very streaky while applying at first. But just keep rubbing and working it in. After first doing circular motions, once it starts to dry down some then switch to patting it into the skin and it will absorb perfectly. I love how it has ZERO white cast. I love it! Very impressed.
Actually... the lack of white cast is so good that it almost makes me skeptical of its protection level 😂 (I’m sure it’s fine- just making a point)
Good grief, as a retired critical care RN, I had to see what in this world was Versed being used in dermatology !
I do enjoy your channel for my skin, which turned against me when I turned 72 . Now 73, I have several diagnoses, sun damage, rosacea, contact dermatitis, and something else .
I appreciate your channel .
Happy Friday Dr. Dray!🥰💕Have a great weekend. I also hope your mom is doing well. Say hello from us viewers, we miss her!
happy Friday!
And Tybee!
Ohh my you just saved me some money. I was about to buy this sunscreen. Thank you soo much!
I haven't tried Versed, but the Cerave tinted is so good and does double duty as a makeup for medium skin tones. The nontinted is hard to spread and can look blotchy. Thanks for the review, Dr. Dray
I was excited to try this because I am black and am looking for mineral sunscreens with no cast but the clumping would be a big issue. Thank you so much for your review.
Have you tried Dr. Vanita Rattan, the Style and Beauty Doctor or Golden Rx for recommendations as they focus on sunscreens for darker skin?
Purito Comfy Water has no to minimal cast
I’m black I use Cotz flawless spf 50 they also have a matte primer with spf 40 . The style and beauty doctor here on UA-cam has some videos on physical sunscreen for women of color and she is of a darker skin tone.
@@MC-ko2mx I'm looking to try the Purito one. I love their other sunscreen they have
@@-1875 oh nooo. :/
I love how you review something then show us an alternative product that might work better. I always look forward to your videos! Thanks for always coming out with the quality content💛
I've used this product for about six weeks. I haven't experienced any of the clumping or spreadability issues you mentioned.
I don’t think you’re using enough or reapplying frequently enough. If so, I doubt it would last six weeks
@@syvi_bab I use other sunscreens too.
I'm with you! I think it just depends on the person. I love this product. I've had issues with cerave giving me rashes and versed gives me zero problems and provides excellent sun coverage.
happy Friday guys have a great weekend
happy Friday!
Thanks Tony J enjoy your weekend 🤗🤗
Happy Friday Friend!! Have a Great Day!! xo
Unfortunately I bought this sunscreen a while ago, and I really didn't like the texture, didn't spread well and it pilled too much, even without wearing skincare underneath. Wish I had waited to buy it and saw your review instead!
I had the exact same experience. It was OKAY without any other skincare but pilled/balled up after two applications. Over my toner/essence/lotion it was awful.
I hope you returned it! I recently ordered the Neutrogena wrinkle cream with the retinol end it that has a slow-release and received it expired as of April 2020. Not keeping it and told them that has been sitting on the shelf for years! Also told them I want something that expires in 2022 at least or the end of 2021 would be acceptable since it was a buy one get one free. Guess that's why, buy one expired get the second expired for free! :-)
Oh and I should clarify that I did not order direct from Neutrogena but from a drugstore. Could be problems during covid-19 times so maybe this is not usual.
@@sable7114 unfortunately I didn't return it, I bought it directly from the Versed website. I'm just trying to use it all up .. maybe I should put it in my body instead.

I don’t understand how so many people have raved about this overpriced product.
Dr Dray in the house. 💙
Happy Friday!
The d-r-a-y !
Random question but I was curious. At what age did you start wearing daily sun protection and minimising sun exposure, not sunbathing etc ? I'm 26 and only just starting to take these measures, I really hope I haven't massively messed up my skin for the future!
I believe that sunscreen wearing should start ASAP. The fact that you’re doing it now is great! You can’t go back and change anything, ya know? I wish that I had started a bit younger too. If you are 26, you could start using a retinol. They can function as a preventative measure and a treatment to hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Dr. Dray has a wonderful video on great Retinols. I hope this helps!
I’m happy I watched this before buying! I wonder if you will review the new Inkey List spf? It seems to be like versed, but without the pilling. Happy Friday, Doctor!
You are 100% responsible for my updated, way more diligent sunscreen use, especially on my face. My hyperpigmentation says thank you ✌️💕😁
Me too, after 11 years of using tanning beds i stopped after watching Dr.Dray and now i use suncreen everyday
Thought I was the only one who experienced clumping with this. It definitely settles into wrinkles and yes there is a very slight cast but wearable.
I think this sunscreen caused a weird dryness/hives reaction on my face. I had to stop using it and have stuck to a very basic cleanser and moisturizer routine for about a week now to let my skin heal itself.
I didn't mind the application but I guess my skin wasn't a fan.
I just bought the cvs brand clear zinc based on your recommendation omg it’s wonderful! A great everyday sunscreen. Feels great and looks nice on my skin. Might be my new fav ❤️
I just bought this and am very curious to try out. Is there a cast? I have a caramel skin tone
This is your niche Dr. Dray, such a great video
I’m so glad you reviewed this product. I saw a few great reviews on UA-cam and ran out to Target to get a tube. First day, I loved it. Second day, I had a very bad reaction to it. My face turned red from forehead down to my chin, especially worse around my mouth and chin area. I returned it the next day.
omg same!!!
Thanks for the review! I just bought this last night. I am a physician and always think of this as medazolam too!!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend Dr. Dray! 💙
Dr Dray I gotta day your skin has been GLOWING lately.
10/10 Dr Dennis Gross Sheer Mineral Sun Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Protection but they just recently discontinued it😑 no white cast and mineral, they need to bring it back ASAP!
I have one unrelated question, Dr. Dray. I have been unable to find conclusive literature on oral niacinamide for skin. There's plenty of data on topical application. Do you know if taking niacinamide orally will yield any of the same benefits as topical application?
it cut the rate of new squamous-cell and basal-cell skin cancers by 23% compared with placebo after 1 year among patients at high risk for skin cancer
Any oral niacinamide you would recommend?
@@DrDrayzday tysm!!
I was just looking this morning to see if you had done a review for this yet!
I almost purchased this sunscreen last week. I’m so glad that I saw this review and I know to save my money and skip this product. Thanks so much for the awesome review. You never disappoint!
I wish you could review ISDIN Spot Prevent SPF 50+ ("100") and PPD 61. It's the highest PPD (UVA protection) sunscreen available in my country.
Fragrance :(. She's not a fan of fragrance in leave on products.
@@BiancaGibson but she still uses products with fragrance sometimes. I do too try too avoid as much as possible fragrance, but I'm on tretinoin so i use (need) the highest uva protection sunscreen available 😅
Thanks for reviewing! I haven't tried it because I try to use only SPF 45 or higher.
thanks for watching!
the new inked list physical spf is SO SO SO GOOD!!!!
M Y Just ordered mine. Can’t wait to get it. Since chemical sunscreen is not the best for my acne prone skin.
Does it sting the eyes?
Ohhhh???? Must try!
A A Purito unscented centella has been the best for my acne prone skin - and it’s chemical - I find Korean skincare to be more beneficial when seeking chemical because western brands still have work to do
Ikiki Lakev There are some pretty good European ones! It’s mainly the American ones that still need more work
The create' I'm thinking outshines the Ulta MD UV elements!
Wow I'm really surprised how this applied for you. I bought this after watching Susan yaras video on mineral sunscreens for dark skin and this doesn't give me any issues and I didn't see any issues for the women who have really dark skin in Susan yara's video either. Maybe it's your moisturizer with the sunscreen?
Me too! I had a great experience with the formula and texture
Dr. Dray has said that in the morning sunscreen is her moisturizer - she doesn't put regular moisturizer on and then follow with a layer of sunscreen.
Applied smoothly on myself as well and had no issues with clumping.
Everyone's experience is going to differ. No one product is going to be the same for everybody so if it works for you that's great.
Different results for different people's skin type, texture, etc...
Not planning + not interested in buying it, but it's fun to see your review on this product 🤗
Loved your videos Dr Dray... Didn't know I needed to apply sunscreen indoors before I saw your videos.. now I do it diligently and taught my kids too. I use the CeraVe tinted and love it... I'm a 4 skin type.
Saved me 22 dollars once again
Thank you dr dray! 🥰
Thank you Dr. Dray for calling out non transparent advertising practices. It happens with skincare and cosmetics.
My new favorite sunscreen! Apply over moisturizer. Spreads great. I dust afterward with the Bare Minerals hydrating powder. Mineral sunscreens do need to be spread out on the skin. I don't know what you are talking about Dr. Dray.! You seem to have decided before hand your opinion. I had NO clumping. Beautiful product. I checked the darker skin sites and they enjoyed this sunscreen. The elta tinted looks orange on my skin. Did not like Cerave tinted. Good luck people 💕
I love this product. It sits so well under makeup.
Please some sunscreen with no cast for darker skin 💚
I appreciate all the videos you are shooting through during this pandemic. It’s been great learning about products, ingredients and skincare and it helps keep my mind off of current stressors. Thanks for all the work you put in to push out informative content (I also enjoy your vlogs as well!). 💁🏻♀️
thanks for watching
When will we see some NIOD reviews? 🙏🏾
yesss!!
Good morning Dr Dray thanks for all u do
Thanks for watching
Happy Friday everyone !!
Guess I’ll be skipping this product, it’s pricey and looks unpleasant to spread.
Happy Friday!
Thanks enjoy your weekend 🤗
Thank You!! Happy Friday to You Too! Have a Great Day!!
Love the CeraVe Hydrating tinted
Lol. I’m a pharmacist. I had the same reaction you did when I saw the name. Didn’t anybody tell the company before they got their name that it is the name of the “happy juice” people get before surgery? (Just pronounced differently.) Enjoy your informative advice and honest opinions!
Dr.Dray...how about a baby/kids physical sunscreen put on lips? May I use it as lips sunscreen?
Liah Yoo does have a video up about mineral sunscreens in which @skinquench who has a deep skin tone spreads the versed spf all over her face and it blends in well. Though I tried it for myself and agree w Dr Dray that it’s grainy and is shiny but doesn’t actually feel moisturizing. I prefer the Cerave daytime spf (not tinted) that Dr Dray recommends in another spf vid
Dr. Dray looks more and more radiant and fresh and healthy each day.
Would you review the following new products?
Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder
Vanicream’s New Face Moisturizer.
LabMuffin and Dr Davin Lim have both reviewed The Ordinary niacinamide powder. Also, Dr Dray isn't a big fan of mix up your own products.
I loved it the first 2 days and then I had a terrible allergic reaction on my cheeks. I'm still recovering from it. :(
My favorite sunscreens are still LaRoche Posay Anthelios 60 and Australian Gold. I'm also using the Colorescience 3-in-1 around the eye, per recommendation by you and Angie @ Hot and Flashy. I also go the Supergoop eye shadow and put that just on my lids (when I remember). It amazes me how every single sunscreen really does look different on me. Some are shiny, some don't absorb, some don't work with other products, lots of them pill. I still try new ones when they come out, but immediately go back to LaRoche Posay and the Australian Gold. I have dry/combo skin and am in my late 50s.
Hiii Thanks for your amazing vedioes, what is and which brand is the best for post-acne marks ?such redness and darkspots?
First time viewer, liked the way you explain things: clear, objective and thorough.
If I may suggest a topic, I'd like to know which ingredients make you sweat (and give up on skin products alltogether). Another annoying feature I've encountered is when some care products aren't absorbed but form a sort of unstable film, then as soon as you touch or rub slightly - for example for make-up or a layer of something else - they inmediately break into compacted crumbles on your face like micro-tacos. (Even if you have exfoliated, so it's not skin cells, it's the product.)
Happy Friday!! I personally have never found a tinted sunscreen I like so I tend to avoid them altogether. Thank for the review Dr. Dray.
I highly recommend Colorescience. Wonderful products
Delray Dharma thank you!
AbsolutAlicia They’re very gentle.
Thank you for your honest opinion, I have to same issue.Unfortunately a lot of youtubers really recommend this one.☹️
I use this sunscreen. I have combo skin and I have a peanut butter skin shade. I really like it, it does clump or anything on me. The tint comes off as a slight lightening glow. I would suggest using it over a good day moisturizer . Im using Clinique dramatically different gel. I have several Versed products, so far so good...Im a fan.
I feel like you need to send me a bill. My skin has looked this good since I was about 10! ❤❤❤
I'm using the Rohto Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk SPF 50 PA++++ (got it on Amazon) and it's a combination sunscreen with zinc oxide included! 🧴 I recommend it as someone with about a 3-4 Fitzpatrick skin tone and acne prone. It also has a more liquid consistency so spreading it is much easier
I’ve been going back and forth on this and I really disliked it on my face it pilled so much ! But I didn’t end up returning it instead I’ve been using it as a hand cream and it’s such a better alternative instead of my face, when it’s done will not be repurchasing though
As someone with an olive skin tone, I can confirm the cera ve tinted is too orange. I prefer the Neostrata mineral tinted fluid or skinceuticals.
I liked this sunscreen. It didn’t clump on me but it is drying. Pricey too for such a small amount
There is a versed green body spf version as well. I’d love to see you try it and get your thoughts!
Happy Friday! Thanks for the review of Versed. Yeah, it didn't go on your skin as nicely as other sunscreens do. Your eyelashes are so beautiful!
I’m so glad you had the same experience as me! I was reading these rave reviews online, and then had this super patchy blending experience, and thought it was just me. I just returned it to target last weekend. I reached out to the company to ask if this is normal, and someone on their IG team said they would reach out, but I never heard from them, so I guess it’s normal 🤷🏼♀️.
Thanks! I won’t be buying this product. I really love the EltaMD Physical spf 41, it’s beautiful tint & easily spread.
How long for u to finish the sunscreen?
I’m going to order the EltaMD Physical SPF 41! It looks so good! I hope it’s a sunscreen that I will settle on for a while. Currently I’ve been trying out a lot of different things.
I have no issue spreading and even out the sunscreen, it did not take longer time than other spf. Perhaps the issue lies on the texture of the individual's skin. This sunscreen is very light and a small amount seems to cover a large area.
Thanks Dr. Stay. Love your videos.
Does mineral sunscreen dry out anyone elses skin? It even causes my 6 yr old to get flaky patches on his cheeks with daily us. And makes my skin sting etc. But this is never talked about bwith mineral sunscreen.
So glad you did this review and I am addicted to watching your videos, thank you for sharing your perspective and expertise! I have been struggling to use this but you pointed out the same issues that I have been having so I decided to return it. I have been repairing my moisture barrier (with success thanks to cerave and drunk elephant protini!) but every time I used this it would noticeably leave my skin dry again and DULL.
Hello Dr Dray,I have an unrelated question. I want to know if cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer is safe to use or is it carcinogenic? Please do reply! Happy friday 💖
Susan yara has a video on her mixed makeup channel showing women with skin of color applying this sunscreen and loving it as it leaves the least white cast of the few tried.
Blue light from screens might not affect the skin much but it’s really damaging to the eyes. You should definitely use a blue light filter!
They may have changed the formula since this video was released, but I just applied it and didn't notice any of the issues mentioned. Once it dried, it has a dewy finish and didn't feel drying to me (I have combination skin).
I like this product (I have a deep skin tone). I don’t notice mutch balling. I also apply this directly over my moisturizer and face oil. I agree it could spread better but does anyone know of a mineral sunscreen that is good for dark skin??? Biossance leaves a cast on me and their marketing was very misleading (they applied next to nothing on the darker model).
Happy Friday Dr Dray and everyone another great video. I only can use physical sunscreen so I always appreciate a new review. Have a wonderful weekend and love to mom and Tybee 💞💞🤗🤗

I just bought this sunscreen before seeing your video, my skin tone is medium (yellow undertone) and my skin is dry (maybe even dehydrated) but doesn't look dry and i'm in my late 30's. My face feels really smooth and soft after using this, no shine or wax. Luckily I also did not have the same issue as you with the consistency, no piling etc, and no white cast. As with all zinc oxide sunscreens I have tried some that have been amazing and some really bad (despite amazing reviews) and I really do think it comes down to your skin type - I would say it's trial and error when it comes to sunscreens.
so I don't use this one in particular, I still find this brand to be gentle and effective, for acne prone skin the glycolic acid peel and acne wash cleanser is so nice and doesnt irritate the skin at all.

Dr Dray definitely I will. I wanted to say thank you for your recommendations. In past I had some issues on my left chin & on neck. I followed your suggestions & it’s completely gone & didn’t come back. So thank you thank you. I also stop using anything skin care from Sephora or high end bcz I am so happy with drugstore products.
Our queen!
This doesn't clump on my skin if I work in small amounts at a time until I have a proper amount and if I use it as my only product in the morning. It's quite hydrating for my skin but I notice a bit of warm was every time I apply. It's manageable for my skin but I expected more for the price
Interesting, I don’t get any issues with application with this product. I do prefer the Kinship zinc SPF over this though (newly available at Ulta). This would be nice for hands too though a bit pricey. I did see some mixed reviews from darker skin individuals, some said they don’t get a white cast but at least one review said they did get a white cast.
Has anyone tried the pipette baby mineral sunscreen and have any feedback on it?it claims to have no white cast?
I have! It does leave a noticeable white cast at first *if you use a proper amount*, settles a bit after a while. Depending on your skin tone, it might be acceptable on its own, though I would recommend assuming that any untinted zinc sunscreen will leave a cast. I personally use it as my base level, then go over it with a tiny amount of a tinted sunscreen (Suntegrity Impeccable Skin) for the iron oxides and to ensure no white cast. I've really been enjoying it on face, receiving lots of compliments. Applies well on the body too for me, and I find it reapplies very well without pilling (though I don't use silicones in skin care so if you do, that might change your experience). For the price point versus size and performance, I have yet to find anything that comes close to it. It will definitely leave you 'glowy' if you use a good amount though, so if you like very matte sunscreens - this is not the option for you. I just reordered some more and see they have a 1 oz travel size so that might be something to look into? Hope this helped :)
My daily learning from Dr Dray! 😊
I have the cerave tinted. Too dark for me but I mix it with a little of their regular spf 50 mineral and it is perfect.
Dr Dray, I have sensitive skin and I find physical sunscreens more irritating and pore clogging than chemical sunscreens. Is there a reason for that (given what you said about them being less irritating)? I use fragrance free sunscreen so it's not a fragrance allergy.
I use both a regular mineral Sunscreen & a tinted mineral on top. After my morning routine I put on Walgreens mineral Sunscreen. I then have coffee & breakfast, let out m fur baby. Make my bed. I then apply the tinted and since we are masking. I simply focus on my eyes & brows. If I'm not going out it's the simple one step process. Even though I have invested in UV filtered windows in my home.
I don't know how my mother knew, she was German and an avid swimmer as was my great Aunt who was a champion swimmer. They used baby bum cream which was pure zinc oxide. My German grandmother, never entered the 20th century. I never saw her outdoors without a hat and a long sleeve hat, gloves, a dress never above her calves. She had skin like milk. She had a very intensive bathing habit the water was full of flowers she dried & exfoliated with. She never used harsh soaps. She was a true lady of another era.
I was thinking about getting this! So glad you did this review! Happy Friday! 🧡
thanks for watching
Thank you for saving me time and money!
