I love that you said it needs to be same-side from the gun

The point of the run is to threaten inside to bring the second level forward then bounce outside if they do. Crossing face generally threatens off-tackle or wider, so it just doesn’t work for me to cross face on it.

@@WideZoneWarriors I know when we ran tim murphy’s gun double wing, our rbs took a behind-the-back crossover and plugged power into the a-gap, I wonder if Duo could work that way?

@@Airraid-pirate I’m not familiar with that! The Dolphins did some behind the back handoffs this year, but they were all on outside runs. I’d have to see some film of that handoff to see if it would work. My assumption would be probably not simply because Power doesn’t have the same LB read element that Duo has. Power just has to have the RB read the butt of the wrapping guard.

Thank you for putting this together. As a Rams fan I'm trying to figure out what this Duo thing is because we seem to be committing to it pretty strongly. How important is the strength of the interior line to the success of Duo?

Rams House! I've been pumped with how they are shaking out the OL this year, keeping Dotson, adding Jackson, and moving Avila to Center. The strength of the interior OL is vital to the play because Duo is designed to reset the line of scrimmage via double teams at the point of attack. If the OL can drive the DL backwards 2 yards, then the RB should be able to gain at least 2 yards, probably 4-5 by the time he hits a hole and falls forward. If the OL can't move the DL backwards, then it's on the RB to gain every yard past the line of scrimmage, if that makes sense.
