we ran inside zone like a mf at Brevard College when I went. when we did it the back read play side B and could bend it back to the backside A based on the action and blocks. Also as a guard. if youre backside you arent reach blocking you are washing anybody in backside A into the pile.

I teach mine to try and get them cut off, which is similar to reach technique. Say we’re running it to a 3 and the BSG has a 1, he’ll get help from the C, but not much because the C has to combo up to the play-side LB. If the Guard can’t get the 1 cut off quickly, then that’s when he washes him down is what I teach mine. I really want the 1 cut off because the back-side tackle is climbing to the back-side LB, and we’re reading the back-side DE. If the RB has to bend it behind the 1, the read man can force a give and still make a play if the RB doesn’t read it fast enough and get downhill. That’s just my philosophy though, and I always enjoy hearing what others do! Thanks for sharing.
