the funniest thing... I followed your structure here and ran duo on Madden. against a stout raven run defense... 34 for 168... and video game blocking is horrible .. they were shifting too .. I appreciate you ... never thought I'd see a QB teach a run game.. fantastic

I know this comment is coming super late, but hope someone sees this. Amazing video and could talk about it forever, but the O-line celebrating the 80yd TD run honestly made me tear up a bit. Just really brought back the pure child like joy of football for me in that moment. Awesome reminder. We can get bogged down in the weeds w scheme and things, forgetting about the basis for all of this. Teamwork and enjoyment. Love the content JT, would love to correspond at some point for some deeper questions.

SAB(severe angle blocking) meets GOD(gap on down). And dont be afraid to attack a safety with a linemen. As long as they get in the way thats usually enough

The giving them the double-deuce thing kinda reminds me of Lombardi.
They're going to run the Green Bay Sweep.
*Everyone* knew they were doing it.
But they did it *better than you could stop it*.
I like that. It speaks to what I'd want out of a team.
    ...
And yet, my favorite college teams run trick plays, so... \(._.)/

Against a Mint front, have you had issues at all with a backside pinching 4i/3? Wouldn’t he be the backside guards since he’s in his gap? Then backside tackle goes out to outside linebacker. Center and play side guard double the nose to backside inside backer. Sniffer and play side tackle have play side defense end to play side inside linebacker? Thanks for this clinic!

Not really. I think my initial answer would be 12 or 21+ personnel if it was an issue.

Hey coach what other Run play is great to run as a running mate with duo?

  • @AFreakakaAllLove

Hey coach I know it’s been awhile since you’ve posted this video but my brother who is a DC in So Cal (Palmdale/ Lancaster Area) I asked him how he would line up to your Tight Bunch Right Formation and he said he would have his backside DE in a 5 tech his DT in a 3 tech his playside NT in a 0i tech his playside DE in a 4 tech his LBs would be lined up stacked 3 yards off the ball over the DT, the NT and playside DE while his SS would be 6 yards off the ball directly over your WR that’s on the ball. I may have missed it or just am simply overthinking it but how would your rules apply, where do you see your potential double teams and would you still run this play out of this formation or would you swap out the backside WR for a Fullback?
Love the videos, the channel is amazing and hope to hear from you

Sorry I missed this live. Did you use motion with your sniffers to gain leverage and angles for the kick out block?

    • @TheQBSchool
      @TheQBSchool  2 роки тому +2

Experimented with. Much more often used alignment flexibility on kick player.

@@TheQBSchool I guess I kind of like the motion to add window dressing that help with other plays like play action and getting the sniffer moving to go into his route. As always thank you for what you do and your willingness to answer questions.

We block fronts its not prefect.
3 fronts - guards and center covered bear, guards uncovered center covered odd, anything else is even.
Center and rg= car, center and lg= cal, tackle and guard = tag, end and tackle = eat
      To right
      C- odd = car, bear= base, even= cal
      PSG- odd= cal, bear= tag, even= tag
      PST- odd= eat, bear= tag, even= tag
PSTE- odd= eat, bear= C gap not there base, even= C gap not there base
      BSG- odd= fan, bear= base, even= cal
      BST - odd= fan, bear= base, even= base
Under is the bastard look and we have the playside guard call under under under if he's uncovered to alert everyone to block an odd.
Even if we miss the under call and block even we get two doubles and the H on a down block on the 5 tech DE.
Remember Bob Wylie talking about solid look and doubling a 3 and 5 tech playside have you ever done that?
Duo is a great scheme but there's no hard fast rule for it it seems like it's a great way to get doubles on guys that can wreck a game. If Aaron Donald is the 5 tech and Suh is the shade you would want to run duo

I know this is late but based on some of your popular formations on film (12P 3x1 and 2x2 • 13P Tight Bunch) did you run any Duo Play Action where the line would slide like Duo, the TE responsible for the End would stay and the RB would take his Duo path and then bounce off tackle for the Extra Fit Player/Help the TE? What were your favorite route combos if you did?

Odds are slim you get back to me here but I coach a Middle School football team in South Carolina. Can this be implemented on that level? Defenses are crazy at this level, we see a lot of 3-3 Stack (or a 5-3 of some kind with wide wide ends/OLB) and some 4-4. Is this something you would consider running on such a loaded box? I'd imagine a FB or the bunch look can help a lot.
I have been trying to understand and implement this along with your pin and pull as my main run schemes. Would love to hear from you

Do you see Duo as solely an “A-gap” run that bounces strong or a strong side “A” gap run that can cut weak. Sorry for the acronyms in the previous question.

@@davidfantjr.5351 If you use pass blocking techniques on the backside and influence those defenders up the field, it can create a huge cutback lane. I don't teach my backs to bring it backside, but if they feel/see it, they can bend it backwards so long as they press the frontside double team to bring that BSLB to the Center. Otherwise, I tell them to stay frontside behind the double, or bounce it and beat the CB 1-on-1.
