  • Dr. Raj Persaud explains how this one factor of Matthew Perry's personality is what made life so difficult for him, like Stephen Fry, and what made him stand out from the other actors in Friends: Jennifer Anniston, Matt Le Blanc, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow. #matthewperry #friends #psychology

    There are MANY creative people who are NOT bipolar & the connection between the two is a stereotype about creative types.

    • @kr8882
      @kr8882 7 місяців тому +7

      The word creative covers many things including artists that are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum to comedians. However, if you refer exclusively to comedy, there are plethora of comedians that die early. Matthew Perry being the latest. Robin Williams, Victoria Wood, Caroline Aherne, Bill Hicks, Chris Farley, Norm MacDonald. There is an exhaustive list in the comedic industry. Of comedic duos it is the funnier of the two that die first. Eric Morecombe, Ronnie Barker. Graham Chapman of Monty Python died at 48. Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper even died in stage. The stress, the lifestyle, the reason people use comedy as a mechanism in the first place and their childhood background plays a much bigger part. It is much more specific than generalising to cover anyone that is “creative”.

      @@kr8882it’s the stress of pretending that kills them . Imagine having events in your life that cause grief , sadness , or despair and have to not only carry a smile while not expressing those feelings but to entertain and be expected to create sincere moments of happiness for others as well. Matthew beating up Justin Trudeau when they were kids, Canada’s Prime Minister, our Prime Minister as I’m a Canadian, doesn’t surprise me. Matthew has always been a good person, wanting to help people, and make their lives better. Justin Trudeau’s people, the Canadian Premiers of each province, just had a sit down the other day on tictok airing how they felt about him as their boss and that he needs to go. His wife just left him with the kids, and he is taking Canada from sea to shining sea to the grave, killing us all slowly. What I’m trying to say is sweet, sensitive, troubled Matthew stood up to a full on Bully when he was younger (Trudeau), who is still bullying and killing our people in Canada. Thank you Matthew!

    He stated he was never high or drunk on set, but very very very hungover. When I would drink a ton, I’d wake up miserably hungover and for me half drunk. When I was drinking every night, I don’t remember 6 months of my life. I have certain little memories. I don’t drink anymore. All it did was make me more anxious and more depressed.
    I am not trying to poke holes in your theory at all, as I agree. Also curious if you think these things change anything. I just wanted to mention these things I read in his book. I’ll double check when I get home to make sure I am remembering correctly. He also stated he was 1 year old when his parents divorced. I can’t remember which parent, but he said he felt abandoned.
    Thank yall for sharing. I really enjoyed this video! Bipolar is def associated with comedians. Hiding tears behind the mask of a clown!

    Matthew Perry has had terrible battles with addiction. I wonder if it’s caught up with him in the form of a heart attack or stroke? Or the other common way is that he’s been sober for a while then done a dose of something (the same amount he’d normally do) and his tolerance is down so it becomes an overdose?

    Interesting theory on early death of celebrities and bipolar. I had a very similar theory but with ADHD, where one of the most common misdiagnosis, especially for women is bipolar. Same insane potential for creativity whether it be for artistic endeavours or problem solving if they are interested with the addictive personality and potential self medicating if they don’t get a diagnosis before adulthood. Famous or not, I see it everywhere. I don’t think this applies to Matthew though.

    He was in school with Justin Trudeau, eldest son of a majority PM. Striking looks as a teen, black hair and very blue eyes, father was a majority PM for years, he was a member of the elite of Canada. Shockingly conceited, as always, but he did know how to box. St Jean Brebeuf school, Jesuits.
    Perry may have wanted to punch him and wouldn't be the first, but he said that the fight never took place. Possibly because his other was Pierre Trudeau's press secretary.
    "But now years later, Perry is walking back his bully beatdown claim. In a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, Perry told the host, "There was a big rumour about us. That I beat [Trudeau] up in grade school". When Colbert asked if he actually fought the pre-teen Prime Minister, Perry responded with a simple, "I don't think so!".
    Trudeau offered a rematch on twitter - and Perry declined, saying "you have an army at your disposal".

He wasn't drinking every day by 14. He 1st got drunk at 14 but did not drink frequently yet. By 18 he was drinking every day. Also his parents divorced when he was a baby (about 1yr). His mom is Canadian. They left America when he was 3mths old. They moved to Ottawa Canada, where matthew grew up. His dad left the family to act in California, when Matt was a baby. @@desireeretiree nope! I don’t ask for money! I just need a platform to get the information out! So sick of scams to! I’m also sick of the gunfire and other toxic violent trends that are shutting our towns down! Or We would have jobs and I would have equipment to generate the information! I’m sick of stupid illiterate weirdo’s controlling all of this! We discovered the trait and our hands are tied! But I have been in media and I don’t loose! I will continue to educate the trait for our self care! Next time ask instead of being rude! It’s not been a easy task with what we are facing in Mississippi! It sucks!

    I think it's more to do with loneliness and a sense of public failure since Matthew Perry didn't have a family. Imagine being seen as a leading 'popular' person in your social group, then having to deal with most of your peers and fans going on to have families and kids as the years roll by.

    Deeply disappointed in this podcast. I have enjoyed your previous offerings very much, but as a successful member of a twelve step recovery program for over 44 years, I have to object to your guest's ill-informed and ignorant characterisation of AA as a cult or a substitute, less harmful addiction. Despite his rather condescending compliments about AA's effectiveness, he obviously has no idea what he is talking about . In my opinion, he is a clown. He may very well have caused many people unneeded pain and suffering by offering his completely speculative opinion about AA and the reasons why we find helping others tackle the same deadly problem the key to our own recovery and well-being. I have always steered clear of those "experts" who market themselves as "celebrity" this or that. Here's another shining example of why I do so. I was also particularly offended by your tacit compliance with his statements. You pretty much lost me with this one. Maybe you should attend an AA meeting, read the AA Twelve Steps , or talk to someone you know who is in recovery before you make such ignorant remarks. Deeply offended, Dan K.

    You are disgrace in stereotyping “creative” people and generalizing. You saying they are bipolar 😂is a red herring. You need some inner work you seemed bitter towards “creative” people. They are those though connections are famous who are not truly “creative”, but they like to do creative things. There’s is big difference in people who are creative geniuses not many and most are NOT famous bc they do not sign weird contracts or prostitute themselves and their work. Now, sir you failed to mention that Mr. Perry had severe trauma and possibly very injured soul due to his conscientious, empathy, and compassion revealing a higher I.Q. Sad to say such impulsive not well thought things. Sorry but not everyone “ creative” is temperamental, crazy, or bipolar.
    My theory sir what if Mr. Perry in his youth was sexually abused by some individual in the industry? How that theory would impact any human being?
