Will the Cleveland Guardians make a major move at the MLB Trade Deadline?

  • The Cleveland Guardians are sitting pretty right now with a comfortable lead in the AL Central, and Stephen Vogt's squad has all the makings of a playoff team. But are the Guards a championship team? That remains to be seen, but roster improvements could answer those questions definitively. With the trade deadline approaching later this summer, do you get the sense the Guardians will be aggressive and make a move, or do you think they'll lay back and let the season play out in front of their faces? It is almost the middle of June, and the Cleveland Guardians sit atop the American League Central division with a 43-22 record while holding a 5.5-game lead over the Kansas City Royals. While they have been carried by their offensive resurgence, their starting rotation is clearly in need of some help, and a potential arm to add to the mix was recently identified by Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer.
Rymer put together a list of White Sox SP Garrett Crochet's Top Landing Spots amid MLB Trade Rumors, and this includes the Guardians. Cleveland comes in as the number four landing spot in this list, ahead of division rival Minnesota, who is ranked fifth. The proposed trade from Rymer, which sees Cleveland receive Crochet, does include one of the Guardians' top prospects, Chase DeLauter.

Luis Severino is the answer. He is a rental. Should not have to give up much. With Williams returning, this would be our two starters.
Don't forget how well Rocchio is playing defensively.

Deals that help the guards get over the hump dont focus on just a random plug and play piece
Luis Robert Jr/Garrett Crochet Chicago Whitesox (Prob pay the juice for a division team)
    Bo Bichette/Vlad Guererro Toronto
Frankie Lindor/Pete Alonzo New York Mets
    Randy Arozerena Tampa
    Trarik Skubal Tigers (Juice)
    Brent Rooker Oakland
    Jazz Chisinholm Jr Miami
    Christopher Morel Cubs
Oniel Cruz pirates (Might be untouchable today market)
    Christian Walker Arizona
    No interest in any rockies
That list is all available teams who are out of the season and or have pending free agency, we can make a run to the ship vs the yankees depending on who we went for, DONT FUCK THIS UP

I am not an expert; however, in the past it always seemed to be that they needed one more big bat because of their frequent anemic offense. That doesn't seem to be the case this year and offensive production is pretty good. So would it be worth it to give up some key pieces for that big bat when it may disrupt the amazing chemistry they seem to have? Maybe. They would definitely benefit with pitching help and in general their front office has a good track record finding pitchers.
Either way, an exciting team to watch and root for.

I don't understand why they are so worried about SS. They don't need it. They need a starter more than anything.

agreed... I think SS and catcher are positions where you can trade offense for defense provided you have hitting everywhere else. If this team wants to compete with the Yanks for the pennant, they need another starter. If they are happy with making the playoffs and getting smoked by the Yanks, they don't need to anything.

@@damerey5232 It's Schneeman. Not being an internet editor and assume it was a typo. I bring it up just because the name is great because it is pretty close to the German word for snowman - Schneemann. What a great nickname opportunity.

@@rccollins1456 Everyday they talk about Bichete and upgrading the SS position, but barely talk about how horrible Allen, Carrasco and Mckenzie has been. The offense has bailed them out too many times. all of the focus has to be getting 2 above average starters.

@@fury19k28 Thank you, thank you, thank you. Well said. Here is my summary on the rotation... Bibee... the best "stuff" on the staff, but a 2nd year guy who is more focused on strike outs, than just getting outs and can't get through 6 innings... Lively... the most consistent starter on the staff, but this is his first year of pitching really well, will it continue in the 2nd half or will the league figure him him out... McKenzie... hurt, can barely hit 91MPH, consider yourself lucky if he makes it through the order twice and through 6 innings... Allen... a soft tossing lefty who can also barely hit 91MPH, again consider yourself lucky if he makes it through the order twice and through the 6th inning... Carrasco... great feel good story, glad he is in recovery, and wish him the best, but as a starter, he is similar to McKenzie and Allen. Thank got for our bullpen. This team is really good, but this is baseball and you don't know what is going to happen next year. That same bullpen that is great now, can fail us next year. The organization needs to go all in and focus not on winning the division, not on winning the first playoff round, but beating the Yankees and winning the AL pennant. Take another look at our rotation and ask yourself, what would the Yankee lineup do to that rotation in the playoffs? Answer, batting practice. Do we really want a repeat of Civalle in a game 5 in Yankee stadium not being able to get through the 1st inning. As you said, at a minimum, they need another starter and Williams to come back. Unless of course, this organization, media, fans, are good with an organization who is too cheap to do anything at the trade deadline, gets bounced by the Yanks in the playoffs, and repeats what a "well run organization" they are.

Bo Bichette from the Blue Jays
Frankie Lindor/Pete Alonso from the Mets, but the Dolans being so DAMN cheap makes this unlikely
Fernando Tatis Jr from the Padres

Don’t need another defensive SS that doesn’t hit (at like $40 per). I wouldn’t mind going after Alonso but that may be the only major bat to go after. Can’t see the Sox giving up a 24 y/o potential ace to a rival. Go after Gausman and another arm. Maybe Severino but you’re pretty much out 4-5 solid prospects for those two.

I think Bo Bichette is still an upgrade. I think Brent Rooker or Jazz Chisholm Junior would be a guarantee. They'll also go after a pitcher and probably give up a lot to the Marlins in a trade for a Starting Pitcher with Chisholm.

Yoo brother, it's not about we need changes........ we like our team and what they are doing, so much soo that we are contenders this season that we (SHOULD) plug in the weak performing spots, we need a SS Bopper and Starter, to compete in a best of 7 scenario
Yankees come to town for a playoff split they would most likely knock us out of the game as we are currently sitting, the goal is to match up against them

    • @stoneyoutdoors8819

@Rerpesentz your wrong tho. We have literally one of the best offensive teams. We don't need to trade for an allstar we don't need a "bopper"🤣 we are a small market team who promotes within, we invest in different ways. Last couple seasons we "needed to trade" certain players like cal quantril who is lighting shit up in Colorado. Sometimes keeping your guys together who are playing well together is more important!!!!
