Officers chat whilst playing very bad contract bridge. (From a 1964 movie with James Garner, Julie Andrews (Americanized Emily) and other notables of the era)
A favorite movie of mine and a great scene. The military commanders arguing about the PR implications of the upcoming D-day invasion and Julie Andrews notes: "This going to be a blood bath.", in reference to the Bridge hand they are playing. Brilliant writing.
I saw this film while on active duty in the Army, in 1964 & barely remember the plot! Since I had actually met James Garner, in 1963, while he was shooting the film "The Wheeler Dealers, at Idlewild Airport, NYC, I looked forward to seeing this one! This film was obviously, mostly shot on a 'sound stage', in black & white & more like a t.v. show, than a major motion picture! The dialogue & actors were good, but the movie was lacking!
