Wrong! Actually California is like central Chile. South of Chile in Patagonia is similar to Alaska and north of Chile is most very most similar to South US.

I would have been disappointed if you hadn’t mentioned the Andes. And at number 3 I knew they were coming. When you consider that Aconcagua is 2 hours out of Santiago. For those not in the know, Aconcagua is the tallest mountain in the Americas (almost 23,000 ft), and tallest in the western and southern hemisphere’s. The Andes are the longest mountain range on planet earth. Me, I’d go for 2 weeks with 1 week exploring the Andes.
    Thanks for your video. 👍🏻

Chile is amazing!!!...has absolutely everything to do and everything is so close just a couple hour driving, if you want ski is right there, if you want to swimming or fish is right there, vineyards are near too, even Santiago city has a lot more park as Parque de Los Reyes,Meopolitano, Parque Ohiggins, so many restaurant and pubs, also there so many museum to visit with free admission, is a peaceful place to enjoy, and during the summer time you can be part of free tours and a lot cultural activities, you will never get bored in Santiago or any other place in Chile you will find fun in the entire country

A little late in the day but time to pay tribute to the guy who uploaded this video. The reasons I like it are two:
    1. Thank you for pronouncing the country's name correctly CHEE LAY not Chilly/ 2. I've been to Chile a few times, but always on business, never had time to explore as much as I wanted to. However did spend some wonderful days in Valparaiso and Veenya. First visit many years ago while Pinochet was dictator. Country under martial law. Historic connection with country of my birth (note you never touched on the history of Chile - an oversight I must say). Bernardo O'Higgins, great grandson of an Irish soldier of fortune in service with the King of Spain, grabbed up the long narrow stretch of land extending the length of South America and that is Chile. Bernardo is the George Washington of Chile. His picture is on the currency (you did not mention that). Big statue to Bernardo in city center. When the folks realized I was an American of Irish birth they took me to their hearts. If I ever decide to retire in a Latin country it will be Chile. Ah! Concha y Toro and wines of Chile. Fond memories.
    Thanks again.

Iván thank you so much! I certainly loved my time down there and would love to explore more of the country. Hopefully I can again one day!

Imaginer!

I'd like to understand French...I'm a chilean and I've never had French classes at school.

Thanks for all the great advice. I'm going in less than two weeks and this was very helpful. But one friendly word of advice, do you really have to do 5-6 jump cuts in one sentence? It makes you look like you can't speak a single sentence correctly in one recording and I'm sure that's not true. No offence really.

Thomas appreciate it man, and glad I could help! I made this around the time where I was still figuring out how to edit so that’s why there’s so many jump cuts. Won’t be anymore like that from now on 😂😂

Hotel noi is $180 US per night. What you spend in a week will last a month of travel for a person actually interested in the country, counting airfare. We heard people like you coming a block away, embarrassing.

And even the hostel he picked is the most expensive I've seen in Chile. Even a bed in a dorm room is more than twice the average price (and I doubt they chose that option). He might as well could stay in a mid range hotel.

I'm a chilean and I don't see wrongdoing in his "advertising". He did say that the Hotel he stayed in is expensive. I think he might fail to give tips to a cheaper option to stay but if he's making money from it or "showing off" it doesn't really matter.

cwb0051 not at all! I prioritize travel more than any type of spending. I make a lot of sacrifices to be able to see new places. I made a video on ways to afford travel that goes over how I save money to go these countries

I really want to learn more about Santiago but your editing is just making my head hurt. Cuts every 1 or 2 syllables is just painful. I made it just past 2.5 minutes and I can't take it anymore.

ZKT XO most of these tips are from my friends who lived there in exchange for 9 months and my buddy who lived there for 5 years who were there with me. A lot more into it than somebody who was there for a week
