This is unbelievably exciting, a new continent, a new country, a new city. Welcome to Santiago, Chile. We have just over a day to explore and show you the best things to see and do in the city as well as exploring the taste of Chile through Pisco Sours & Empanadas. Two of the best things in the world lol. We are in the continent to start a 17 day cruise through South America down to Antarctica with Princess Cruises and we cannot wait to share our adventure. Chile...let's go!

@@Juancarlos2001Chile Me siento malo!
I'm from CHile but have lived in Scotland for many years. It's so awesome to see you guys enjoying the food in Santiago! It brought me amazing memories, need to go back to CHile for some nice completos!
Thanks so much for watching!♥️🥹
Scotland must be one the most beautiful countries in the world. Been there once 🖤 How did you get to go live there? Also from Chile. Saludos!
I am from Santiago Chile as well…
@Blahblahblah_420 I guess around the touristy areas will speak some english. and you could survive pretty well. I would learn some words, expressions if possible, to get more of the experience, though. Today there are these instant translators apps you can install on your phone and work pretty well.
@Blahblahblah_420In Santiago mostly in Las Condes and Lastarria you can find people who speak English, also in wineries.
In big cities in both north and south are tourist destinations and speak English.
If you go to Chile travel you can find the most popular destinations (it’s the government official travel page)
Lovely first impression of Santiago, Chile.
thanks for always watching!
@@dabbleandtravel 😀
Chile in South America is from another universe, a big hug from Santiago de Chile 🇨🇱 much success!
Big hugs back! Thanks for watching
my favorite country in latam, Chile
Excellent, 1 hour away there are 3 ski centers, La Parva, Valle Nevado, El Colorado, you can also enter the mountain range called Cajon del Maipo to eat, bathe and have drinks like in Europe and visit the Pacific coast two hours away and visit the vineyards and their mansions. This city is one of a kind.👌👌
Amazing. Will have to try it next time. Thanks for watching
Santiago looks amazing
It’s a really cool city!
@@dabbleandtravel yeah it is amazing!
Chile is such a wonderful place to visit. Have a great time!

Good to see you guys
Brilliant just brilliant, chile is calling us massively and if honest our first day we would have been on it like yourselves food local beers untill we are smashed lol the city looks spotless and beautiful. I was so excited to rush home from work to watch this and well worth it , brilliant cheers the both of you
cheers mate we appreciate it, you'd love it, can't go wrong with beers and food lol!!!
@@dabbleandtravel we have booked Mexico City for end of October for the day of the dead festival which the wife has always wanted to see . Now your cruise which again I can’t wait as since a tiny lad in Bermondsey then Watford South America has always been my number 1 destination
Hi!! Chilean native here hahaha, if you need any recommendations or have any questions, I’d be pleased to help you!
Sadly chile, specially since 2019 has been on a state of decay. The housing market and the state are not able to accommodate all of the population, specially the huge number of immigrants that have entered the country illegally, so irregular housing has become a huge issue, it's everywhere, in the hills, under overpasses, besides highways... Also we were a very safe country for LATAM standards, but crime, homicide rates, drug trafficking have gone up substantially. We see torture and kidnapped on the daily, Wich was a very unusual thing before. The worst part is that it's linked to international drug trafficking bands that operate in the country now(Tren the Aragua for example). They use chile as a gateway to Europe. This also ties with a horrible economic situation that has left the country in not so good state.
Cities as a whole are dirtier, uglier, less cared for, less invested in. The slow death of the country that was constructed has been specially true since the social uprising of October 2019. The country is now a shit hole for the most part. The center of santiago (tho today it's a lot better than a few years ago) is the biggest example of how bad things are... Informal commerce has taken the streets and buildings, offices and restaurants have been closed or shut down for good. The rich and middle classes have scaped the center and fine only to the richest part of town, making the city more segregated than it was.
Our local beers are amazing! Lots of beergardens with great varieties have been poping around the city lately. You have to try our wine too, which is worldclass top tier! There are lots of vineyard tours around Santiago, with amazing food too (a little more expensive, but really awesome). Santa Rita, Vik & Casas del Bosque have amazing food and and some of the best wines in the world! Cousiño Macul, Concha y Toro, Tarapacá are really cool too! If you love champagne, you have to visit Viñamar! Hope it helps :)
It make me so happy to have foreigners people that have a first good impression of our country. You have to visit the south of Chile (Calafquén, Lago Ranco, Pucón, Villarrica). Good luck with the rest of your trip!
Hello, is it easy to find a job in Chile? Is it expensive to live in Chile? And also I would like your oppinion about Punta Arenas? Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
@@clearskycirrus hey, yes it’s easy to find a job, but not everyone here speak English so you have to know at least the basic Spanish, and also is gonna depend on what area you want to work. And yes, Chile is expensive but not crazy comparing for example with England or Switzerland, with a job you shouldn’t have a problem. And tbh I never been in punta arenas, but people say that is a nice place to live with beautiful landscapes, but a little distant from the rest of the country
@@crescenteprieto5755 Thank you for your time for answering on my questions and giving me all those informations. I don't mind that is Punta Arenas far from other places. Anyway I like small, peacefull and quiet places and also mostly I like winter so cold places are big plus for me.
@@clearskycirrusPunta Arenas is an amazing city, really clean, if you love cold, penguins, you can loved, also this place want to make use green hydrogen fuel, the combustible of the future, also, you can go to Antarctica, Punta Arenas is an small city (mid size for Chilean standards) like 140k, and is the capital of Magallanes Region.
Santiago looks really nice and I can't wait to see more thank you Matt and Molly !

Congrats! You did your homework, this is a very good one day walking tour of Santiago. I'm a local Santiaguino and I totally approve the route. If your planning a day in Santiago, this is a pretty good reference.
Some footnotes in case someone is interested:
1. From Apoquindo/Las Condes to downtown I would have take the Subway. It's safe, modern and on weekends not very crowded (I would avoid it workdays from 8am to 10am and from 5pm to 8pm).
2. La Moneda is a few blocks away from Plaza de Armas, it is worth a visit.
3. You went to a very traditional and familiar Café con piernas, some santiaguinos would say it isn't really a café con piernas. "Real" café con piernas have tainted windows (I'm not saying you should go, but if you want the real café con piernas local experience, that's what you should look for 😂)
3. Antigua fuente is THE place, but you should order LOMITO italiano, not hot dogs. Bourdain was misslead on that by his guide.
4. If you want hot dogs ( we call them completos), Dominó is the place to go (chilean sandwich chain, not the pizza place). Ask for "completo dominó".
5. In Providencia, walking distance from cable car station you can go to El Baco, great place for a dinner and one of the best places to taste chilean wine (you can order by the glass and taste different types).
Santiago is a wonderful city! Pisco sour is my new favorite drink! You should absolutely go to the Atacama desert, most beautiful place we've ever seen
We’ll save it for next time!! Thanks for watching!

Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much
Technologically and financially, Chile is a very developed country, due to its free market capitalist system, the most developed in Latin America and I could say one of the third most developed on the American continent.
thanks for watching
Free market for life!!!

First time watching your videos and that was because of the title.
I love that you said "I don't know what I was expecting ?" Which is pretty much what a lot of friends say when arriving in Santiago for the first time. I lived in Santiago for 9 years and I recently visited Greece and like you guys said Athens reminded me of Santiago so much!!. I really hope you enjoy your 3 week trip in South America!, try as much food and drinks please. Looking forward to more content ❤
It's always exciting to being a new country and continent. Definitely can't wait to see more of the South American series.

Beautiful walk!! I love my city!!! Walking around a hot summer day, a little bit drunk off the pisco sour, just wondering over to la fuente alemana for a nice Austral Schop with, in my case, a lomo plata Mayo chucrut… then some ice cream at emporio la rosa , see some art in GAM and MNBA, and lay down in parque forestal and Watch out girls play and kiss and snuggle with my wife in the shade.
