@Brandi Guarion hugs to you, and I agree I love people and different cultures. I live in Cambrsige MA usa - so we have tons of students and it 's music to my ears passing by and hearing an accent, I love hearing different languages too, though accents are just so "musical" to my ears. : ) I love seeing the children holding onto each other's hands and walking down the street and the different coloring of skin, hair, their clothing..we are all connected. 🧡☮ 👩🏾👧🏻👩🏽🦰 👩🏽🦼🤞🏽💖 🧑🏽🧒🏻👩🦱
I wish people like her would be the real social media influencers not the fake ones we have. A normal girl, with a normal life, and an amazing attitude.
Are you trying to say she's not a social media influencer? She sure has enough subs and I'm sure she'll get plenty more. But I know exactly what you mean, lol
Home is where the heart is. With a beautiful and (by the look of her) healthy child and a husband who likes to give you flowers - that is a great home.
Yes, I lived in apartments very similar in NYC when in my 20’s and 30’s and didn’t like the less-beautiful and not-chosen aspects. Yet, was so happy to have found a place with more than two rooms, and near the subway and a park ...looks like it’s not so different between US city & Russian city
Dear Victoria, I am an American, born in 1948 so, I will soon be 75, a widow and newly retired public school teacher in Florida. Thank you so much for showing us your apartment and thank you so much for your positive attitude. A good attitude and making the best of whatever situation you are in will allow you to have a joyful life regardless of things not being just or even near to what you really want. Many people have really nice houses in America and many people do not. Lots of people who have great houses, cars, vacations, etc. are very unhappy and only want more. Some of the most joyful and positive people I know do not have a whole lot but they enjoy their pets, friends and just life in general. A good attitude is everything!! ♥Kathleen. P.S. Your baby is beautiful!!😊
I think many people do not understand a reality is that most people do not live in glamorous, ultra modern, luxurious homes. The important thing is not what your home looks like but the happy memories you make when you are in the home. ^.^
True. Every time I get frustrated about how my place is not up-to-date and shabby, I remind myself that I HAVE a place. Heating, bed, shower, stove, washing machine, internet. A lot to be grateful for, actually.
I agree, TV is unrealistic they never show how people really live, it gives everyone a bad perception, of what real life is all about. I moved out my trailer due to the sewage coming back up into my house, the smell was atrocious and dangerous. I also had to retire from my good paying job, since I couldn't afford to take care of myself or anything due cost of living. So I'm working part time, just to cover my bills. I also had to get medicade to take care of my health.
How very right you are! But I got to say there are neighborhoods so rough here in the US that I swear to you they can't give apartments away in those places! Oof!
@Babyhowdy233 I read an article on how apartment dwellings in communist countries are purposefully built to look dreary and alike as a form of mental conditioning aka to encourage conformism and discourage individualism. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the article though I did save it somewhere.
She's a breath of fresh air. A normal woman showing her normal apartment. Nothing fake and not bombarded by most people on social media faking a lifestyle. Good luck to her. She has a nice home.
Literally, and many affordable housing around the world looks very similar to this as well. Many of my friends live in council flats here in London that have a similar appearance, but people are mocked for it no reason.
I wish most people would realize this is how 90% of the world lives, this is real life. Apartments like this (not always as big in size building wise) are all over America, in every big and small city and suburbs as well. I think people watch too much tv and social media and have forgotten what is REAL. An apartment this size in America would be quite expensive especially if you could walk/take public transportation.
I mean... I don't understand what else do people expect. This is a pretty normal apartment, most of my friends and relatives that I ever knew lived like this. The most common problem in post-soviet apartments, just like shown in the video is, the building itself is old and the corridors are trashed due to poor maintenance. But apart from that, people have freedom to furnish their apartments and keep them in good shape.
Making a statement of “ this is how 90% in the world live” is REALLY AN INDITEMENT of the just bad QUALITY OF LIVING STANDARDS!! Just because so many people in your provincial life live like this- does NOT MAKE IT OKAY- at all!! My post is in NO way indicative of MATERIALISTIC IDEOLOGY!!!! Better BASIC STANDARDS ( yes- a STANDARD) is so important to what is a VERY IMPORTANT PART. - of physical AND EMOTIONAL - health and WELLBEING!! What I am watching here and what ridiculous posts about the “90%” - is NOT AT ALL- helpful in a “ basic GOOD STANDARD”!!! If THIS BUILDING is an ACCEPTABLE “ standard “ - this AND THE REST of the buildings NEED TO BE - TOTALLY DEMOLISHED!! I have worked commercial construction a LONG TIME - and I can say with TOTAL CONFIDENCE- there are HEALTH problems in THIS building with regard to LED AND the PLUMBING- that are not good at all! Just the hallways are a disaster! I have been to different parts of the EU AND SEEN THIS ABSURD acceptance of living space - ALL OVER THE EU! GO TO JAPAN- they have SMALL apartments- ALL OVER the cities- but they are SO CLEAN AND UPDATED!
This seems to be a Warsaw Pact thing, giving flowers to women for no apparent reason other than a display of affection :) In Poland you can find open florist's shops even in the middle of the night!
Don’t ever apologize for your home. There are millions of people who would give anything to have a place to lay their heads. You’re sheltered and that’s all that matters. 💕
I am Bulgarian and I live in a very similar apartment. Seeing this lifestyle shown online makes me a lot more comfortable with the way me and my family live. Not everyone can live in a million dollar house in LA
Makes me remember that a single family detached house is not the norm & I'm lucky. Even in my state/area, yes probably 55% live in a house but there's people in efficiencies/group homes/boarding houses. My house is old & I'm constantly doing work on it (invested in a LOT of tools) but it's huge, a big fenced in yard & I can have so many animals (the best part of it - my cuddlebutts).
Instead of “not everyone” I would say “the absolute minority of privileged elite” actually live in rich houses in LA. It is totally normal to have a small place to live if you are not a celebrity or a politician. Or Ilon Musk.
More people in The Netherlands should see this. We are so caught up in having the perfect house, a perfectly maintained garden, the newest kitchen, the biggest tv and WiFi MUST be perfect everywhere. When you don’t have solar panels installed, people will almost dislike you for it. It does not make any sense, chasing an impossible goal of the perfect life. This video puts things in perspective and shows that you don’t need everything to live a good life.
It is how people really live. It's just not shown in the media and the internet because people see it as shameful and poor. I grew up similarly to this is Los Angeles, California. I am proud of how I grew up 😊
Agree to disagree. In Russia 50 thousand people (mostly men) die from alcohol every year. And that just official stats on deaths directly connected to alcohol: poisoning, chronic alcoholism, cirrhosis. Indirectly few hundred thousand die from it every year. Living standards like these affect psychological health a lot, and since there's almost no treatment of depression in Russia, people use alcohol.
Wait what? A normal person on UA-cam? A regular looking apartment on UA-cam? Where am I? Now seriously, wish you and your family all happiness and success, you seem to be a good person and your English and modesty made the video special.
Right!!! Absolutely! Well minus all the empty storage spaces 😂 knowing me with all the crap I have they would be overflowing 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅😅 so I applaud her for being minimal! 👏🏻
Beautiful hair 😊 and beautiful HER 💅😍, but horrible "box houses" scenario... 🎄💙🏅 🥺🥺🥺Imagine a future of Islam Hamas Marxist fascism in Europe with similar houses 🏢🏢🏢🏥🏢and their hanging carpets 🧣🧣 and ... the silence 💀of oppression.
I live in an eastern european country that has been under russian opression from 1945 to 1990, and i have the "luck" to live in such a soviet-built apartment building-shithole. First of all, a big FUCK YOU goes to all the soviet party secretaries that ruled our asses for 45 years and made us build these shitholes instead of normal detached houses (which by the way literally could have been built everywhere in my country considering the population size of our cities, except maybe for our capital town) that would have been a gazillion times better to be living in. Secondly, the MAIN problem with these socialist shitholes is the total lack of upgradeability. Even plastic windows don't come standard that fit each type of these fucking buildings, not to mention each and every one of them has aluminum electrical cables, tin plumbing that always breaks down, ungodly smelling garbage chutes, rats in the basements (oh btw all of these older blocks have long corridor-like basements that go down sometimes even 2 stories below, and all function as air raid shelters with natural convection-type ventilation, maybe the only positive that can be said about these buildings, but if it's not wartime then i can stick all this shit up my ass), and if made from prefabs, and not conventional bricks, then it is impossible to heat because so much waste thermal energy goes right through the walls. Luckily some of them are already deemed dangerous to live in and they started to bring them down here.
I lived in a 12 storey apartment block in Warsaw and friends would say, 'ugh, these places were all the same, nothing was individual', but then we all bought our 'individual' furniture at Ikea! Those lovely tulips and your happy family make a home.
You have a roof over your head. You have a man who loves you, and a precious baby. You are blessed and have so much more than many. No apologies needed... ever.
Agreed. Best gift they can give her is their love, their presence, to keep her safe and to keep themselves happy and healthy. Where they live is second to all this.
I agree. It really looks like a nice and cozy place. I have a similar kind of place, and I wash my dishes by hand too, I also don't have a dishwasher. I live alone, which is the only difference between me and her, but I like it that way. But since she seems to be happy to have a boyfriend and baby (or was it husband, I can't remember), then she is lucky to have that.
my country makes me mad it is so anti Russia then you watch something like this and it warms your heart media is just propaganda to make you hate people well I see through all the bul sh it I hope other people do to peace out
That´s why I love the Internet. You get an insight into the life of a person you´ll never meet. It´s a really authentic way to learn about cultural diffrences :) liked the video a lot!
Apart from the fact you never get an insight like this - once I've read a story about a photographer, who went to the same place for almost 3 years just to take one picture of a very rare species...no matter how vividly it was described, one can never appreciate that determination/sacrifice/craziness/whathaveyou until going through something similar. So, though I know what you meant, only those coming from similar circumstances can really dig it...it works for a second or two, but then it wears off...I mean, so many of us have plenty of our table but rarely we feel ashamed when throwing stuff into garbage, despite knowing so many cannot even afford that little...
@@gipi23 of course a short UA-cam video won't make me part of those particular life circumstances. But that wasn't the point of my comment to begin with :) i just wanted to point out that i prefer this way to learn about other cultures. For example other peoples opinion about a culture might come from movies etc. But movies (in most cases) are very artificial. They are directed. But tiny bits and pieces of the life of a person just showing her Appartement on youtube for example will show you a much more authentic portrait of that culture.
@@amardegan There’s a sufficient amount of space throughout the home, if it was furnished differently you’d say otherwise. A lot of apartments in london are smaller than this
How very refreshing, a lovely young mum sharing part of her life. And can we really appreciate how good her English is? Thank you for giving us a glimpse into normal life in Russia
@@DrScarface74 I’m learning Russian and it’s not super difficult but it’s definitely hard to speak a language that isn’t your first to someone who is fluent like the poster of the video. Also if I wanted to type Russian I’d have to download a whole new keyboard to access the letters
In the US this apartment would be considered "ghetto" or one of those areas that's dangerous to live in. Nothing wrong with living in them. It's just interesting that different countries have their own definition of "nice"
You say ' why would anybody live in a place like that.' It's your home, never apologise for where you live. It's the people inside the house that make it a home. If you were to invite me into your home I would bring a gift and be grateful for your kindness and hospitality.🧡
I was raised in America. We live in the deep south. There were three of us kids. I grew up in a mobile home surrounded by cotton fields and rice fields, in a town of less than 200 people. I guess we didn't have lots of money or fancy things. I can tell you what I did have. I had love. I had parents who made sure of that. I had a beautiful mama who cooked amazing meals. I had parents who laughed and danced in the kitchen. I also had the smell of honeysuckle wafting into my bedroom because I slept with the window open. I had homemade ice cream and black berry cobbler when we went berry picking. I had fireflies. I had summers filled with friends, bare feet, popsicle mustaches. Those things are what kids remember, not the price of the house they grew up in. I'm 54 years old now. Both my parents have passed away. I cherish all the memories they gave me. To this day, whenever I feel sad or scared, my mind still goes back there. Those are my roots. That's who I am.
What truly amazing memories your parents created for you. I'm sure that anyone with a childhood such as yours would feel exactly the same. Smaller townships are also usually closer too because the whole town takes on the raising of each of the children so that none miss out on the good things in life, and also assist when the burden may be heavy. I lived in a village similar to that size during a period when my son was in his teens, and it was truly a blessing to share the raising of our children when one wasn't on the spot to deal with an infringement at the time. :)
90% of the world’s population lives like this simple life and they’re happy. Stress free and not medicated. Don’t have to work their life away by sitting in front of computer for 8 hours 5 days of the week 😁
As someone who as never seen apartment buildings that look like this , you may think it’s boring but it’s very interesting to see how different other countries are
I like your apartment. You have so much potential for anything in there and you can do it all on a budget. Paint and wallpaper are very easy and simple ways to upgrade and make it your own.
@WooPa DoWah One can live alone and still feel good about it.. and that kind of home also has love inside. It's what you make out of it. And as much as I like to think that families and friends make our world a better place, we have to start with ourselves and love ourselves in the first place.
You have a loving husband. You have a beautiful, healthy daughter. You have a roof over your head and food in your cupboard and clothes on your back. You are truly blessed. Many people live in large mansions with much money, but they don't have love - and that makes them much poorer than you will ever be. So - congratulations on being rich in love. You are one of the few truly blessed!
@@juliesprik9479 She seems quite OK to me. It could have been 1) an accident or 2) a punch out from the previous renter. I have 2 closet doors like that from the previous tenet. Waiting to have it fixed.
I was surprised to see that the apartment is quite large. Victoria keeps it nicely organized and very clean. And she has lots of storage space and a very sweet baby. Thanks for showing real life, it’s what real folks appreciate 🦋🌸
I know what she means about all that big furniture they are not using, and cant do anything with because it is the owners! some people dont need all of those big closet/armoire looking things, too bad she could not see if the owner would let some other renter haul them to their apt?? but then they could not rent it as "furnished" smh.
I appreciate comments from foreigners who don't judge, don't blame and don't make outcasts out of us just because of our nationality, citizenship or lack of heroism to change something. Not every one of us, humans, is a fighter and a hero, and it's nice to see those who understand that we are just trying to live our lives and experience the same hardships and happiness that any person on this planet experiences.
I couldn’t agree with you more! People may think that because we live in the USA everyone lives in palatial homes like you see on instagram, Pinterest and other social media, but the truth is most of the people live in lower income housing, you just rarely see that. We are a very materialistic and superficial society, and very class divided. I love my country but it needs a lot of work. So it’s very refreshing to see that people around the world are pretty much like us. We’re all trying to be and do a little bit better. Bless you.
Several thoughts. The baby is so precious, such a cute family. She has some of the best eyebrows I’ve ever seen. The apartment is so cool, so much storage and vintage items. I think it’s so interesting to see other cultures and the way they live.
Honestly, most of the famous UA-camrs are rich, so we see luxurious homes and we forgot that most of us live in normal homes, so when we see ordinary homes on UA-cam, we get surprised... that social media really play with our minds
I see all sorts of homes on You Tube; rich, average, poor, very poor, etc. That's one thing about You Tube. You can showcase just about anything you want. I've seen people cooking in the woods, on the floor, and in million dollar homes. There's a bit of everthing on You Tube. No sense in pretending that only the rich showcase and that somehow we are being deprived of a real experience.
Nice appartment it has everything you need to live your life with your family and your little daughter is beautiful and cute god bless you and your family
You are the first actual minimalist on youtube I believe. All these people with super expensive stuff calling themselves 'minimalists' really don't know what the word means.
I agree. However I never had much stuff I'm still a person who has to be prepared for all obstacles. So things are always there. And here in every room empty closets. That's refreshing. Time to de decluter my house :)
Minimalism and having expensive stuff doesn't mean you're not a legitimate minimalist or something. It's about how intentional you are with everything in your life (not only material things btw)
But how is this a minimalist home? She has a lot of stuff inside, lots of clothes, also apartment is not small at all. This is vintage apartment, not minimalist. We all live in apartments like this in Europe.
I love how she really appreciates everything she has and even though she could complain about things or be ungrateful shes not, shes very positive and real. Go you!
From the Eastern-European point of view this represents a pretty decent standard of living. I know families who share similar flats with their older generations, live squeezed into single bedrooms with kids, or whose kids of different sex share tiny bedrooms until they move out. Many people don't have bedrooms, they sleep on couches in their living rooms. So I don't think this video shows the "trying to cope with what I 've got in the best possible way" attitude, but a very balanced picture of what living in Russia means.
@@Q_QQ_Q I learned in depth about propaganda in school this year and every time someone say propaganda is all bad they prove that they don’t know what propaganda is.

ahhhh, a realistic video. No ridiculous music, no fancy houses or expensive furniture, just real life. I love it. Your simple life is perfect, and more importantly, it makes me feel that my simple life is also perfect.
I admire her for opening up her home to the world. Its a typical city apartment--tens of millions of similar worldwide. Like everyone's home, there's always something to do to improve and in the meantime, take pride and be grateful for the warmth and security. Stay cozy.
Growing up in the Eastern bloc, the best thing about these buildings were that when they were built young families were able to buy them (with mortgage of course) to start their lives. My parents were 21 and 23 when we moved in, I was born a few weeks later. Yes, my mom moved when 9 months pregnant. Who gets which apartment was decided on something like a lottery. Every family was young (80 apartments in one building) so all the kids were the same age. We had a blessed childhood growing up and playing on those playgrounds.
That’s true! We had a lot of children there on the playground when I was a kid. We lived in the same type of building and hanging out with all the neighbors was a very cool experience in the childhood☺️
So true. Summers were the best. All the neighborhood kids would come out in the morning and we would play until dark. So many friendships! So much drama! So much activity - climbing trees, soccer, badminton. Our parents would yell our names from the balcony to come eat lunch. I was never really hungry as a kid though, haha. Also, there was also a break at 5-6pm for an hour to watch Santa Barbara with our grandmothers. The happy days.
I love hearing Russian people speaking English. There's just something about it I like that makes me smile. I think Russian people are great people. It's so neat getting to know them through things like this. I wish our governments could learn to get along and help each other. Videos lile this show how we are all just regular people with goodness and love in our hearts. I loved your video and wish you all the best.
Your family is happy, healthy, and safe that's all that matters. A shame that so many of us forget this. Keep making videos about Russia, people need to see the other side that isn't always in the media.
It's so humbling and refreshing to see a house tour that isn't in a mansion with more expensive items than you could possibly use. There's something so cosy about it all 😊
You speak beautiful English. Your daughter is so very cute. And, please, do not apologize for your apartment. Life is difficult and prices are high in the best of times, let alone right now. Your apartment is very nice, and clean; and when you can, you will move to your dream place. Very few people start out their adult married lives in their dream homes. But your place is very nice. And you didn't say anything bad about the elevator - it isn't your fault that the buildings are not up to standard for handicapped access.
Your daughter is precious. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I, too would be very grateful for the elevator. I wish you many blessings for your family and hope all of your dreams come true.
Looks like a lot of apartments in America. You have a beautiful baby. Honey you have a warm , dry and safe place to live. Very clean. Thank goodness you also have family and love. Never apologize for your surroundings. We all have to start somewhere. My first apartment only had 3 rooms. My husband's feet hung out the bathroom door. LOl! You are a beautiful young family just beginning. It will get better. Believe me. We have all been there. I enjoyed your video. Big hugs.
First off, I really enjoyed this. It’s so refreshing to see a normal person talking about a normal life. I don’t think it’s a bad place at all, it seems to suit your needs and it’s a nice size for your family. Your child is absolutely adorable. And I agree with you, why focus on the negative? Russia is your country, be proud of it, and continue being yourself. I found your video very refreshing and look forward to watching more.
Looks like you’ve made a home here….may not be your dream home but you have the basics and a lot of people don’t. You and your husband are doing great and you have a lovely family….you look happy and I really hope you are. Actually there are so many people who have money and are still not happy or content… .looks like you are. You and your husband are still young so you can work on getting more of what you want. You have the most important right now…..a husband a beautiful daughter and a roof over your head….the rest will come. Take care of each other and love each other.
These apartment buildings have been there longer than Putan. Typical apartment, all built by the same design, building after building, not handicap friendly. Most are assigned to you for free if you apply once you start your first job. You get moved to a large one when you have children. 1st floor or 5th floor, not your choice.
I am American and your apartment looks like a good starter apartment for a young couple. I realize American media presents us as all being very materialistic, and some of us definitely are, but not all. Having what you need to begin with is the important part, you can accumulate luxuries along the road of life if you want.
Thanks for giving us insight as to how the rest of Russians leave in the cities. From a South African township I think u are still blessed. But for the purpose of growth, I wish you & your family the best for the future. May you finally have the house of your dreams

@@mentiquebakabila4254 Grew up in a small house where the "living" room was also the shared bedroom, with my parents. The toilet was in the back yard, outside, and no running water in the house, only in the yard, wich meant gathering it in bottles and pans to have some inside, and warm it up on the stove to have warm water. The kitchen was also used as the place to bathe in. It was all charming as a small child, but growing into my teenage years it became suffocating and embarassing (I did not want most people from school to know where I lived, because this was not the standard even then - so I even took side streets home from school, when I felt followed by curious friends)

@@bia_blossom I hope that you get to visit New York City and other areas of the U.S.A.. While many apartments in N.Y.C. are small, it really is a magical place in many, many ways. The abundance of lights and decorations at Christmas are gorgeous! That is also true of almost every city on the U.S. in December, even the very small towns. The scale is just very different. The architecture, museums, street fairs and outdoor concerts, for example, in N.Y.C. are accessible to all of the residents and visitors. The wonderful mix of cultures and foods of the millions of residents who's families immigrated here create a colorful and special environment. Most small cities have less diversity, but every town has it's own sort of attractiveness and the populations are are constantly evolving. Happy New Year! ~ Alison

It's not glamorising but the social classes and their division, emergence, changes and whatever related to that This very young woman with a kid is, well, in the lowest 15%
@The Darkness Came i just think of my hate for large spaces.. i like to be able to see everything in the room with just a glance.. if your house is a literal mansion i'd feel completely lost.. i'd much prefer a nice cozy place
@The Darkness Came yes that would be great.. it should also feel soft to the touch so you can just lie down on the floor and be comfy.. that would be amazing
You guys are so weird making it seem like you feel pity and she is so poor! Like Vika said, this is truly a typical and middle class apartment in Eastern Europe. Most people live in these apartments. Imagine it like a ranch house in the USA. It's actually a pretty nice place with the big tub and all the wardrobes. Thanks for sharing your home with us Vika!
Why the hell would anyone pity this life? Try finding an apartment that size in Paris or London. With a groovy modernist separate kitchen, a bathtub, a balcony, an elevator, a washing machine .... jesus, what bourgeois nonsense to look down on this.
In America we still have CHOICES.. Not for long though..in the future you will own nothing.and you will just be thankful that you are allowed to live it all.
I've done photoshoots of over 17000 houses and condos/apartments in the last 30 years, this is very common everywhere, even in Canada. It's REAL life. Love the video, it's refreshing as others have said. In my line of work I see the before and the after and what we see on tv and in photos is not REAL life.
Yes, I was thinking that as well! Because of trying to create a lot of housing and apartments in a very quick time during the Soviet Union, and that it has been a while since they were built, the buildings might not be in the perfect conditions, but where I live in California, an apartment this size might be a few thousand dollars a month, and the only difference from what I could see is that the ones here might have a bit of a better elevator, but the conditoin looked pretty similar to some of the older apartment complexes in LA. Honeslty, with how quick these kind of buildings were built in the soviet union, its impressive how long they are able to last. :)
Maybe don't apologize for your home but apologize for your COUNTRY!! It's great that you HAVE a home to go to and a family to care for! It's too bad that countless Ukrainians don't have that anymore because of YOUR DICTATOR AND HORRIBLE REGIME. I honestly don't know how you can sleep at night with a military that destroys cities, murders civilians, rapes women and children. I shouldn't hear any complaining! At least you HAVE a home. Try living in the streets in poor conditions because your apartment got BOMBED. Try giving birth in a train station because the hospitals delivery rooms have been burned to the ground!! I would hate being a Russian after witnessing all of this!
In the U.S. they didn't have standards for making buildings accessible for strollers and wheelchairs until fairly recently. Never apologize for where you live! I think it's fascinating. When I was a kid in the 80s, Soviet Union was very mysterious and hidden. I never would've imagined being able to see what everyday people are like.
Omg, we need more genuine people like you in the social media, so pure, so real, so close to us, no brands, no expensive fake unnecessary details , just real cute blessed human, greeting from Netherlands 🇳🇱
There's nothing wrong with your apartment. It's your home that you share with your beautiful baby and your obviously loving husband. You're very lucky to have flowers 💐 from your husband. I think we are too hard on ourselves because we compare what we have or don't have with the neighbors. You look like a beautiful family. ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
Agreed. It also reminds us how lucky we are where we assume we can grow up in Canada and one day have a home of our own. I realize that is a luxury that may elude current kids growing up big cities, but still, we don't have a lot to complain about.
It's interesting to observe how similar people's lives can be. I also want to point out (with out any ill intent whatsoever) that her particular home has extremely well preserved almost the original interior like chairs cabinets wardrobe etc. This shows how well people from the former soviet union take care of their homes.
I wish I could agree with this sentiment but unfortunately that's not true. If you live in a run down place it will likely affect you. The only saving grace here is that many of them live like this and to them this is normal.
I love her honesty and attitude. I think we should all think this way. Maybe things aren’t perfect but it is what it is and be grateful for what we have and make the best of whatever situation we are in. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us. 💜
As a Russian, I want to confirm that this is 100% true. There are blocks of flats that look literally like this everywhere, and most of people live in the ones like this one.
@@躺平专家 Money and the post-Soviet Union collapse vortex that Russians are still healing from. The funding and workload required to get plumbing and electrical to houses built outside the city is prohibitively expensive. Instead, it’s cheaper to construct apartments in undeveloped areas in or nearby the city, as they build upwards and can accommodate hundreds of people. It’s a simple socioeconomic issue - most people don’t have the income to afford new housing construction.
@@calebmcdowell9094 i know people have low income, but its cheaper to build house in Russia as materials and labors cost less too. Most houses in China 1h drive to city are only $100K, many people also build their own house in suburbs its very cheap
@@躺平专家 you are correct, the labor and materials are cheaper, but pay is also overall much lower in Russia. 1 Rouble in Russia is equivalent to 1 penny in the USA. The income doesn’t satisfy the payment in Russia and logistically, it doesn’t make sense right now. If they build houses outside the city, they need shops and groceries. It’s an exponential infrastructure issue - nations have overcome this by federal subsidies funded by taxpayers but Russia’s government is “kinda” (more like completely) corrupt and take a lot of money (from taxpayers) to oligarchs that threaten violence and civil unrest to the government. So people pay in to the government from their hard-earned money and can’t spare enough for their own personal fulfillment.
@@躺平专家 Russia is an extremely poor country. Average salary in Russia is about $400 a month (30,000 rubles). Official average salary is higher, but Russian official statistics always lie. Moscow is 10 times more prosperous then the rest of the country. Which is actually another sign of third-world economy.
As someone coming from a third world country, I think the apartment is nice enough. If the neighborhood is at least safe, then this is not a bad place at all. Your English is excellent, by the way!
Yess you could say that the building style of apartments where everywhere the same in the eastblock. This apartment really reminded me of our apartment in bulgaria we once had… And also all the storage cabinetts (ex. the little cabinet above the door) or the „closet-cabinet-walls“ where very typical. My parents had both in their apartments a whole wall with cabinets in the living room and theirs where quite unique because they where made of a different type of wood (lighter colour) and it was considered to be more expensive and rare to find. I think it‘s quite interesting to see that so many people where living or have lived the same way, even if they had cultural differences.

We have similar ones in Canada too
In Germany they are also very similar but the bathroom is mostly worse
Looks like the projects in America

So sweet
Beautiful.
You made me cry... but in a good way.
You are blessed 💞
What truly amazing memories your parents created for you. I'm sure that anyone with a childhood such as yours would feel exactly the same. Smaller townships are also usually closer too because the whole town takes on the raising of each of the children so that none miss out on the good things in life, and also assist when the burden may be heavy. I lived in a village similar to that size during a period when my son was in his teens, and it was truly a blessing to share the raising of our children when one wasn't on the spot to deal with an infringement at the time. :)

@WooPa DoWah One can live alone and still feel good about it.. and that kind of home also has love inside. It's what you make out of it. And as much as I like to think that families and friends make our world a better place, we have to start with ourselves and love ourselves in the first place.
Exactly 😍
What do the yellow tulips have to do with the love that lives inside their apartment?
You have a loving husband. You have a beautiful, healthy daughter. You have a roof over your head and food in your cupboard and clothes on your back. You are truly blessed. Many people live in large mansions with much money, but they don't have love - and that makes them much poorer than you will ever be. So - congratulations on being rich in love. I see all sorts of homes on You Tube; rich, average, poor, very poor, etc. That's one thing about You Tube. You can showcase just about anything you want. From the Eastern-European point of view this represents a pretty decent standard of living. I know families who share similar flats with their older generations, live squeezed into single bedrooms with kids, or whose kids of different sex share tiny bedrooms until they move out.

I would hate being a Russian after witnessing all of this!
bla bla bla
Aww "a home is a blessing" :') so true
In the U.S. they didn't have standards for making buildings accessible for strollers and wheelchairs until fairly recently. Never apologize for where you live! I think it's fascinating. When I was a kid in the 80s, Soviet Union was very mysterious and hidden. I never would've imagined being able to see what everyday people are like.
...and they are amazing, aren't they
The most important thing in any home is a loving, healthy family.
@Barry Allen, your comment, universal truth. You made me fill up - with love ~ thank you 💖
That’s honestly better then most flats in the uk haha! Such a lovely channel so nice to find a real person like yourself giving us these insights
Haha I was going to say, I live in Canada and my apartment is pretty much the same as hers, but hers is much bigger than mine! 😂
Funny that no matter where you are...everybody has a drawer for all the random stuff

Well stated!
What a lovely comment

Love from the third world country..Indonesia
It doesn’t matter where you live as long as you’re happy and healthy.
I could not agree more!!!
And safe
Let's be honest - this video is a poster for why communism sucks.
I wish I could agree with this sentiment but unfortunately that's not true. If you live in a run down place it will likely affect you. The only saving grace here is that many of them live like this and to them this is normal.

As a Russian, I want to confirm that this is 100% true.
There are blocks of flats that look literally like this everywhere, and most of people live in the ones like this one.
I dont understand, Russia is so big why dont you just build houses like the West?
This was nice to watch. I enjoyed it much more than the youtubers roomtours bragging with their overly modern houses.
Thank you!😅
These buildings have a character to them that modern buildings seem to lack
Totally!!!
These apartments look so much better, and have some feeling of history. Modern buildings are just boring, no history or anything.
As someone coming from a third world country, I think the apartment is nice enough. If the neighborhood is at least safe, then this is not a bad place at all. Your English is excellent, by the way!
thought the same thing!
In Argentina poor people don't have not even the half of that...
It would be a nice place here in Brazil too
I am from a so called "first world country" and I think this apartment is pretty nice. You can really feel at home there.
As an American born in 1975, I’ve always been interested in Russia and its culture. Plus the Russian language just sounds cool! Thanks for this interesting video, Victoria.
This looks 1:1 like East Germany before we destroyed the wall. The Russian influences was heavy 😳
whole east block looks like that
Yess you could say that the building style of apartments where everywhere the same in the eastblock. This apartment really reminded me of our apartment in bulgaria we once had…
And also all the storage cabinetts (ex. the little cabinet above the door) or the „closet-cabinet-walls“ where very typical.
@@yanarmv right? Since I'm from West Germany I never saw it myself but my grandma lived on the east and on the pictures I saw its all the same. As long people are happy it does not really matter 🤝🥰
@@AnnaBluelueluep I mean today there are still a lot of people living in these apartments, but the people mostly come from poorer sides because those apartments in these blocks are pretty cheap if you want to buy one. And then a lot of people decide to renovate them and i think that‘s great haha.

Have you been to NYC?? The same thing is happening. The owners carve up a three bedroom apartment into 6 one room apartments, around 320 square feet for like 9-1500$ a month.. ridiculous
@@celestebell9992 yup, I've been to NYC just to visit but since I'm psycho fan of this city I went online to check how are the renting prices and spaces to let and it was just ridiculous how bad is the standard and the space for such a high price. Also, when I was visiting NYC I slept in a hostel in Bowery district and it was the worst place I've ever slept in. There was a big space with wooden "walls", the "room" itself was just like a prison cell, only two beds and bed bugs, not even electricity available in a "room". Such a strange city in this term
