- Hi and Welcome! I am Lily and in today's video I am going to do a flip through of 3 altered A Little Golden Book Christmas Junk Journals. Two of these are vintage Golden Books. I've given these LGB's a new life and they're now ready for memory keeping, planning and documenting. The special feature about these LGB junk journals is the Golden Spine which I have left in place and without removing it or cutting it out. One is actually red and that was a nice feature. The little golden spine is an iconic feature which I've left as part of the junk journal.
The Junk Journal has two signatures with approximately 80 pages front and back. The Journal measure about 8"x6" and the spine is 1 1/4".

Thank you! All I do is run it through the sewing machine and fold it under the presser foot every half inch or so. Sew over the folds to create a ruffle. I hope that makes sense. ☺️😊

Hi Lilian, i'm a huge fan of your channel. I have watched your video on how you preserve the golden spine. I have tried your method but don't have much luck it seems to take ages to separate and tears the golden paper.
Thank you I appreciate you being here. Some staples are stubborn for sure. Once you are able to locate the staple it takes a little bit of a wiggle wiggle or slight twisting left to right with a bone folder or something similar...twisting and wiggling until the staples come loose. Caution, you do need to be gentle so as you do not poke your bone folder through the spine. You've given me an idea to do a video where I share only how to remove the staples. I've several I need to work on anyhow. Thank you again!! :)
I just love your golden books!💗I have question. All your pages look like they are full page spread and even on the signature middle. How are you doing that? Do you have a large scale printer? Or are you gluing Scrapbook paper on legal paper to get the look? I am trying to make a little golden book but I’m finding it looks too choppy and too many half pages so if you could help me, I’d appreciate it.😁
Thank you! 😊 In these journals I sprinkled a variety of 12x12 scrapbook papers in coordinating colors. Folded in half the papers are the perfect width at 6 inches. As far as the length goes, I'll fold up to create a pocket or trim the excess to the length of the journal. Most of my journals are 8.5 inches x 6 inches.
If it looks like full page spreads then I've succeeded at matching things up. 😉
The center pages are the only full page spreads. I hope you find this helpful.
Hi all the golden books I have the Signatures are 6 1/2” . I see you have started to fold the pages back. I was trying not to do that but it’s making my signatures to choppy. So I guess it going be folded! Thanks !❤️
Hi Lily. Do you have a source for the gold eyelash trim? I love how you save the gold trim. If I come across a tutorial for Little Golden Book and maker chops off golden spine, I immediately stop video. I guess I am a purist and Little Golden Books need their trim.
