Thank you to Author Pavithra Mehta for sharing this wonderful story of Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy and the journey of Aravind Eye Hospitals. I am inspired by their wonderful work and now believe that anything is possible at any age, if the goals are truly about benefiting society.
I have had the privelege of visiting Aravind 4 years ago. It's an island of hope and humanity in today's harsh and sometimes deparate reality. Dr V is a modern day mahatma, a true saint and more importantly, a true human. To me he is greater than most gods of yore or godmen of the present. I can barely ever watch Pavithra's fantastic film without tears streaming down my face. Thank you for the inspiration and for revealing to us Dr.V.

We have been donating to your esteemed hospital, is there a way you can help a grandma with cataract issue who has no vision sitting on the outside grounds of Ramana Maharishi Ashram in TIrunvanamalai , who has no family. She used to sell flowers or make garlands but now totally helpless because of no family or kids. Vision will give her new lease of life. We donate to your hospital not one by one to individual as we know it will reach the needy. Counting on your help. Her name is Savithri patti and currently some free food handouts are give by one Mr Vinoth Kumar to her but no way to carry other work

I took my mother there 4 years ago who's cornea was damaged and can only see blurred images.That hospital was so crowded.They couldn't do anything.We came back desperate.I regret we went there hoping a miracle even though we have several eye hospitals around us in Kerala state.They may be able to perform cataract surgery and free treatment camps in rural areas.That is a different story probably they are making money from foreign countries like Canada and U S. For that they need pictures of those free camps with poor people lined up
What you should understand is every disease is not curable. There is a difference between what they tell they work to eliminate curable blindness. What they do there is hardwork and service to the underprivileged. They are not magicians/God. Blindness due to cataract is eliminated by surgery. But corneal diseases/infections takes time to get better. What you need to understand is Hospitals don't do magic/ miracles.
