I initially kind of zoned out during fighting game talk during SBFC/CSB but slowly got more into them. Now I've got my own GIFG snackbox and went to two local tournaments last year. Keep it up Woolie, it works!

In case woolie reads this, here is something for your "research": I don't play fighting games, except casual mvc3, skullgirls and dbzf (I think there is a pattern) Still like the fighting game podcast parts, when they are not literally 2 hours long, because its something I have zero attatchment to, but I like hearing people being passionate about stuff thats outside my bubble. (even if following the podcast and fisticuffs since 2011 has made it part of my parasocial-bubble) The podcast is still mainly to stay up-to-date on gaming industry stuff, at least for me.
I only got interested in watching fighting games now because of the podcast and Pat is right that the audience viewing experience is the priority if they're streaming it so fuck those training stages

For me it was the Fisticuffs and specifically the P4 video got me interested in FGs a little bit and then because I saw that the GG guys (Arcsys) were about to make a DBFZ game and I ONLY knew about them because you guys played Xrd in a fisticuffs as well, I went full in on Xrd to try to learn before DBFZ came out. Now here I am, having become a fairly well known TO in the BR anime fgc community XD

Got interested in fighting games because of Fisticuffs but never got into them until SF6 and modern mode came along almost entirely because of motion inputs. Also watching Pat play during the beta and realizing Jamie exists.
I love that SF3 is so busted that the Elena main who won every single match with her up until grand finals had to swap to Chun-li just to have a chance to beat the Yun at grand finals, making it the most box standard SF3 finals ever.
MOV is actually a Chun-Li main, and was for a good while one of the three best Chuns in the world (along with Nuki and Rikimaru). He mainly used Elena in Top 6 as a hard counterpick to Hugo (Healing Elena is one of his worst matchups) and as an unorthodox counter to Yun, but Issei figured his Elena out by Grand FInals so he had to go in on Chun.

I'm a data point, woolie. I never much cared for fighting games because of a sour experience with my older brother using me as a punching bag and literally teaching me wrong on purpose so he could get easy wins. I hated the genre and never touched it after turning like 10. Now in my mid 30s, you passionate ass individuals infected me with the hype and I pre-ordered sf6. I'm still garbage, but I brought my modern Ken up to silver and I still casually touching it every few months. I'm not fully in, but my foot is firmly planted in the door thanks to your efforts.

I looked over the HxH roster and... Honestly, they did pretty okay considering they were probably constrained. But holy shit, we are absolutely lacking some Chimera Ant hard hitters. Pitou not being there is criminal, and neither Knuckle or Shoot. They did a good job covering the spiders, but obviously we need almost all the spiders by the end. I don't like that the pink haired spider is there, personally. The one that really offended me though was the fact that the Bomber is in there. Like sure, he serves an interesting function, but get him out of here, he took up obvious real estate. In the end 16 was never gonna be enough, but they didn't balance the books right still. Valiantly effort though?

So, the problem wasn't that everyone couldn't get inside the arena on finals day. The problem was going into the weekend everyone was expecting to get into the arena. As bad as it sounds, the arena needs to be a separate charge and a charge for each game. That sucks but people need to know going into the weekend that they're not getting into the arena. Showing up Sunday to learn you're not getting in is way worse than arriving Sunday knowing you're not getting in.
Honestly if Initial D and Wangan didnt lock down their games to Japan only and had decent regular home releases, then yeah that alternate reality might have existed.
I finally tried SFV because of modern controls and confirmed I feel nothing for fighting games. I just get bored after a few matches win or lose. Although I really don't care what woolie and pat talk about as long as they are interested in it or knowledgeable about it. The only podcast topics that suck are when something is news worthy but nether really give a shit or are know anything about it really.

I like some fighting games, but im definitely not INTO fighting games. So whenever they start going on and on about them, i start skimming through the podcast until it sounds like they've moved onto a different topic.
EVO needs to dump Mortal Kombat for good and keep certain games like 3rd Strike as staples. The focus on only new titles despite most of them being boring to watch while 3rd Strike gave some of the most hype moments in recent EVO history needs to be noticed by higher ups. I'd much rather watch 3rd Srike/CvS1 or 2/MvC 2 or 3 rather than another Netherrealm game just because it's what's new.
I just wonder how many people are just tired of Woolie every time they're talking about fighting games stuff he has to acknowledge on how people are tired of them talking about fighting games stuff.
The SBF days got me more interested in fighters than I used to, though I’m still very much a casual “for fun” player. Like I definitely enjoy me stuff like Skullgirls, Mahvel, Garou, and Third Strike, but I definitely lean mainly to characters that have simpler inputs. Stuff like pretzels are too much for someone like me so if a character has those inputs in their move list I’m like “eh…”
Remember that on time Woolie got absolutely destroyed in skullgirls so badly that his opponent gave him a musical finish and had to quit the game

So, the problem wasn't that everyone couldn't get inside the arena on finals day. The problem was going into the weekend everyone was expecting to get into the arena. As bad as it sounds, the arena needs to be a separate charge and a charge for each game. That sucks but people need to know going into the weekend that they're not getting into the arena. Showing up Sunday to learn you're not getting in is way worse than arriving Sunday knowing you're not getting in.

I finally tried SFV because of modern controls and confirmed I feel nothing for fighting games. I just get bored after a few matches win or lose. Although I really don't care what woolie and pat talk about as long as they are interested in it or knowledgeable about it. The only podcast topics that suck are when something is news worthy but nether really give a shit or are know anything about it really.
Honestly, I'd love to listen to Woolie talking about evo, but 2 hours without chapters or timestamps is too daunting

I like some fighting games, but im definitely not INTO fighting games. So whenever they start going on and on about them, i start skimming through the podcast until it sounds like they've moved onto a different topic.
EVO needs to dump Mortal Kombat for good and keep certain games like 3rd Strike as staples. The focus on only new titles despite most of them being boring to watch while 3rd Strike gave some of the most hype moments in recent EVO history needs to be noticed by higher ups. I'd much rather watch 3rd Srike/CvS1 or 2/MvC 2 or 3 rather than another Netherrealm game just because it's what's new.

The SBF days got me more interested in fighters than I used to, though I’m still very much a casual “for fun” player. Like I definitely enjoy me stuff like Skullgirls, Mahvel, Garou, and Third Strike, but I definitely lean mainly to characters that have simpler inputs. Stuff like pretzels are too much for someone like me so if a character has those inputs in their move list I’m like “eh…”
