Great video! Can you make a pipey using gunpowder from .22, .25 or .27 cal nailgun blanks? Sounds like a great option especially when they are pretty cheap. You'll have to open the crimp by squeezing them with pliers but as soon as you got a hole you can just dump the powder.

I was trained in explosives back in the 1970s (Rangers), but I was NOT an EOD tech.
If I remember correctly, it took 3 wraps of det cord for every inch of tree diameter. The point was not to blow up the tree, but to fell it, while trunk remained attached - for making tank traps.
Largest shot we made was 2 cases (48-pounds, if I remember right?) of C4 in a shape charge placed into a secured vertical 36-inch ceramic water pipe.
The resulting explosion was simply "AMAZING"!!
The formula we used was: P = "Plenty"

Hey Dustin, first of all DISCLAIMER: I am not a licensed professional, just an Army Trained Combat Engineer .. and I haven't "qualified" since 2009. But I do remember my training; which tells me that all that dirt you dug out to place the explosives? Ya need to put it back in the hole and tamp it down which contains the explosion making it bigger than if it were not tamped down. The it would have a better chance to up root the tree.
Same on the Det Cord, after wrapping it around the tree, wrap that with sandbags and tie it supper tight with lots of rope which will redirect the explosion inwards into the tree. Explosions, like electricity, always take the easiest path. Just my thoughts, which is not a criticism just a suggestion.

need tape, a shoelace, vinegar, dry ice and nitrogen chloride avalible at your disposal. You can find these materials at your local hardware store. For the first step you need to take a suitable container for your explosive. For this tutorial, i am going to be using a plastic water bootle as an example. Place about 50 miligrams of nitrogen chloride in the bottle then insert your dry ice carefully. Mix your contents with about half a spoon of vinegar in the bottle. Close and shake your bottle careffuly and allow the dry ice to impact the cap. The point of impact will become where you attach your shoelace. Tape your shoelace onto the impact point. Upon usage, the flame will transmit kinetic energy to the dry ice mechanism.

I could have told you it wouldn’t work. From Viet Nam Combat Engineer experience, with det cord. more doesn’t help. The blast was spread evenly all around the tree. Cutting with det cord works with 55 gallon drums because the inside is hollow. There needs to be somewhere for force to go. You spread it evenly around tree.
