      After the screaming girls of which most of them also pissing in their panties during the fifties till early sixties, crowds in the second half of the sixties were respectful to the performing artist(s); they listened first and applauded/cheered/screamed afterwards. Stoned? Some (probably most) of them may be. Respectful? Definitely!

    July 4th, 1970 he played Star Spangled Banner for us at Atlanta Pop. Shortly after, he left us forever. Thankfully, his music is still with us. The guitar strap he wore that night is the very same that David Gilmour now wears for most of his concerts. His wife gave it to him as a gift. Imagine what that strap is worth today!!

    Jimi Hendrix is my all time favourite musician and that will never change anymore. He passed away when I was a bit more then a year old. It ws my father who was a big fan of his music and as a child I was influenced a lot by my dad's album collection which contained the until then released Hendrix albums. Fifty+ years on I can still listen to his music and feel like it is the very first time I hear it. No artist has managed that with me but Jimi.
    If I imagine one could travel back in time for one day I would pick a day and see Hendrix perform live.

    • @rebeccabailey527
      @rebeccabailey527 Рік тому +3

      It's a right handed guitar upside down, but it's not mind blowing. After replacing the nut, adjusting the intonation so every note plays in tune, it's the same as any guitar, the only difference is the body shape and where the controls are.
      Back in those days fender did make lefty guitars, but they were as rare as hens teeth. It was far easier to just buy a right handed guitar and get on with it.

    Great reaction to Jimi, he never thought of himself as a great guitarist he was very humble about his skills. My sister went to school with his older sister in the early 60's, a few times he had come to our house to pick her up. He wasn't what you see now as he had just gotten back from the Army so he looked like a normal young man. He spent a few years in Seattle and then went off to Nashville to join in the music scene there. It didn't go too well and he took off to London where the British music scene was booming. Which is where he became quite popular and started his career. Back in 2016 the city turned my old grade school playground into the Jimi Hendrix Park. They have also put up a huge memorial at Greenwood Memorial Park and it is amazing. For decades people would visit his old grave site and chip away at his headstone as well as leave behind guitar pics among other things which they still do at his new resting place.
    Back then people usually sat and listened to the music, unlike today whee people get up and dance. Please keep looking into his music, he was truly advanced for the times and is still look at as one of the greatest.

  • @guillermojimenezcastelblan8456

    Jimi was a God gifted displaying all this killer technics, adopted for many others monster of guitar 55 years after him, the very beginning for many in rock music, Fender Stratocaster guitars, Marshall amps, high volume out doors and massive audiences gigs, sound systems, logistical crews, almost all that stuff we see now in present day. Even today, if he would be alive among us, he would be performing like its contemporaries, The Stones, Zepp, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, what a stage!!.. absolutely insane.

    Got turned on to Jimi just a few months after he passed (I was 13 yo). He'll always be my #1. So many greats to listen to, and really there is no such thing as "the best" - it's all subjectibe. That being said, Jimi stands tall as the prime mover, followed by (in noparticular order) Jeff Beck, Danny Gatton, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page, Bonnie Raitt, Clapton, and many, many others. I hope your guitar playing is coming along. Give a Listen to Jimi's "Night Bird Flying" from the 'Cry of Love' LP - it will blow your mind. Cheers...

    Yeah, wish I was there too. HOWEVER, I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan open for Joe King Carasco back in 1980 or so, right before he hit it big, at the Arcadia on lower Greenville. There were maybe 300 in the old theater, I was only 14 and 5 rows back. He was introduced as "Our Oak Cliff boy fresh from Austin with his new band Double Trouble". He broke into Voodoo Chile...and this was sacred stuff ya know, Jimi hadn't been gone 10 years yet...and Stevie not only played it but played it BETTER than Hendrix. We were absolutely stunned. Who is this guy??? Couple years later you couldn't get close to him even if you could get tix...I'll never ever forget that night. Ever.

    Having collected all I can of Jimi, it's hilarious to hear you say you've been listening to Jimi these last few months. You're in for a treat. In my experience the authoritarian communists' demand and expectation for classical culture closed that part of the world off to progressive thought and freedom of expression by individuals that the West has enjoyed, and enjoyed freely and for so long. Jimi is firmly at the top of the clown culture. Welcome aboard, Inna. You are a breath of fresh air. Good of you to join the debauched culture.

    In additional to being an innovative guitarist, he was the most sensual/sexual performer that I know of from that time. I don't think he was wanting of female admirers. If he had a "normal" life span, he may have had 40 or 50more years of being productive with sound. Selfishly, it still upsets me that that didn't happen. I'm happy to see your positive reaction

    Just wanted to address the whole thing about the audiences being rather mellow. This was the vibe (a sixties word, BTW lol) of the rock scene of the late 60s. I think the mindset was more about listening to the music than going nuts as we see today.
    In the 70s, between 'ludes, weed and other downers, you'd hear stories of whole audiences falling asleep haha. Not sure if that's completely true, but hey.
