How uplifting to watch and learn how to prune a butterfly bush. Thank you, Olga. My neighbor gave me three cuttings from her butterfly bush last summer. I'm hoping that they do well. I love your channel, Olga!
I pruned my Buddleija yesterday. I got a new variety for my birthday, a lovely white one, and it’s tiny at the moment but in no time it will be as big as it’s friend!
I know your butterfly bush will flourish this spring/summer. I only ordered 1 David Austin rose thus far, Windermere rose. I have been purchasing Grape vines, strawberry plants etc . I pray there will be a few more roses available when l am able to purchase again. It was so difficult to limit myself to choosing only one. May God continue to bless you and yours.
Thank you Olga my neighbor loves butterflies and she make sure she plans anything that will attract a butterfly. I will Show her how to take care of the butterfly bush. Thanking about you and your family🙏
That is absolutely the most gorgeous tall Butterfly Bush I've ever seen with all those beautiful blooms top to bottom! I had just cut back our 4 first year "Dark Night" to about 2' or so, sat down at my computer, and here was your new video :) They say here in Zone 8B in NC Dark Night can get as big as yours but if you don't cut it back hard it will only bloom at the top. It looks to me like the BEAUTIFUL structure of yours after cutting back is the result of a few or more years, I don't really know, of well thought out pruning. Yours is inspiring. May I ask what you feed yours with to get things kicked off?
I will give my butterfly bush Espoma food and will cover it with compost. Butterfly bush has shallow roots. Last year I added a small amount of blood meal and saw good results.
Yes, I do, that is an old bush and it puts a lot of growth every year. Next time I do a video around that part, you would be able to see how quickly it is putting on a canopy. If you want your butterfly bush to be wide and bushy, do trim it in spring.
I live in zone 5 and probably get some snow. I’m worried about my butterfly bush might brake by the weight of snow. Should I prune now, November 12, 2022?
@@OlgaCarmody thank you, Olga! I recently found out your channel. I love how you showing your affection toward flowers and trees. I believe they are loving you back.

Amazing. I am planting my first butterfly bush this year. Do you trim your bush down to this height each year? It does look quite drastic.

Sure, prune your butterfly bush. Those shrubs are very forgiving. I take half of mine every year.
