Your explanations of what all of the different settings are for have been invaluable. I really appreciate your having taken the time and energy to teach us "noobs" something new. Thanks!

Thank you ! i learned how to set my DX5C...failsafe / frame rates (11ms) i use it for 3-nitro cars using the new press down bind button receivers & the rest are basic .I use the buttons A-B-C-D for assigning functions / say- A=steering /B=throttle /C=brake ( Nitro car)..i did the timer as well. This is very helpful..Thanks !
Dude, you do an awesome job of explaining the functions of the RC world keep up the good work I have watched several videos on how to use on UA-cam and you are the best you got my subscription
Brother, thank you SOOO MUCH for this video!!! I just got back into RC after 30 yrs and man, stuff is waaaaay different then when I was a kid/teen. I just picked up the Arrma Typhon 3S and this exact remote with the 6100AT receiver. Ran it one time after installing receiver and upgraded steering servo, changed battery after 1st run and receiver stopped working. And you're right, I set up the receiver in a different position after initial launch lol. But thanks, this video was exactly what I was looking for!!
I want to thank you very much for the fantastic and calm and very understandable way in which you explain everything. you have helped me fantastic to set up my new arrma infraction truck together with my spektrum dx5c .. really fantastic ...
This was a great video, I have a Typhon 6s with the 6100at receiver and found that if I mess with the AVC setting in the remote/transmitter it conflicts with the receiver factory set AVC so I had to turn off any input to stop the transmitter and receiver from fighting each other. When in conflict with each other the receiver tries to straighten out the steering when the steering wheel on the transmitter is almost back to center which creates a crazy zig zag RC.
I have a limitless with the 6100at...are you saying you basically put all numbers to 0 in the AVC portion on the remote? or did you just set AVC to Inh on the remote?
Thank you. Been having “drunk steering” problems with a scale truck. Also had assigned aux 1 and 2 to E and F. Cutting the plastidip off and starting over. Disabling the AVC all together.
I purchased five spektrum SR6100AT to fit them in my cars and use them with the DX5C but they are not good because I couldn't use the AVC and had to make the settings to the lowest possible from 3 to 5%. I realised this when one of them wasn't binding and I replaced it with the SRS6110AT and I could adjust the radio settings around 75% and could also use the throttle AVC with the DX5C and the cars moved in a perfect straight line without wobbling. I tried to make contacts to see if they can replace them or give me a good offer but up to now nothing! We spent thousands of euros on this hobby and we should be treated better in my opinion!
For AVC to be disabled the second bind plug ( aux4) must stay in after binding... for the same reason you mentioned ...in competition it easier to prove its deactivated just by glancing at the receiver and seeing the plug
Your a very good teacher. You helped me immensely. Thanks, I’m new to the sport would you tell me what brand and model of vehicle you used on the table during your video?
Concerning what you said at 33:39-43 on your video (about the necessity to re-bind after changing the steering travel and/or the throttle travel), before I watched this video, my Hobby Shop had already performed the BIND for my Spectrum DX5C transmitter while the STR TRAVEL and the THR TRAVEL were both set at 100%. I re-set the TRAVEL for both the STR and the THR to 70% (without RE-BINDING, because I didn't know any better at that time) yet the RC CAR continued to work perfectly (with the AVC) at the 70% throttle and the 70% steering without re-binding.
Thats great, keep using it then . The book from spectrum says to rebind after adjustments changing the travel, reverse setting, or want to use the receiver for a different model memory. If it and the Avc are working properly just go with it.🤘
Thank you so much for your video. Helped me way more than everyone else. I was forced to set up the dual servos on my e revo 2.0 with the first steering servo in steering port and the second steering servo in AUX 3 of the AVC 6100 receiver. I set the transmitter with the dual servo mix. And have AVC transmitter setting to ON. Throttle and dual steering servos all work when using steering wheel and throttle trigger. But for some strange reason , only the one servo responds to the avc gain. The other steering servo has no avc active. Both steering servos work perfectly when I turn the steering wheel, but avc only works on the one steering servo and not the other. ( I tried using a Y lead to make the servos use only one channel, but was almost impossible to get the leads to fit under the receiver cover ). Any suggestions how to get avc working on both servos ? Should I try plugging second servo into aux 2 maybe ? ( I did read that aux 2 is for gain, so chose aux 3 instead ). Once again, your video was excellent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you adjust the Sub trim to make it drive straight - Any recommendations would be greatly appercaited?!
You could add a point or two to the sub trim , but there are other ways to attack it. if you watch #2 video on this, I explain it pretty good around 6 mins in or so. but, make sure all your bearings and caster, camber, toe in and out etc are dialed in before you go to far out from center on trim points. I have a great video on adjusting camber and stuff also. Good luck brother!!
I bought a used one since I can’t afford a new one. Well so far I can’t get it to bind. I did fix my DX3c but the steering wheel spring I replaced is a little too stiff so I got the DX5c but it won’t bind.
Hi there. Hopefully this message gets seen. So a strange thing happend. I turned on my kraton for first time in maybe 6 months. So Dx5c on, car on… now usually you have the common 5/6 beeps the car does before its ready to go. But now it does like 2 beeps then the fan slows down and its just idle. But check this… if i turn my steering full right lock it ramps up the fan again, the beeping resumes as normal and then its ready to go. It will actually drive (but only in full lock to the right😰) when i let go of the steering wheel the the fans slow down again and the car is idle. Any idea how to fix this bizarre problem?
When the AVC thing came out I got my pants pulled down with an AVC receiver and Spektrum/Horizons usual small print bs. What they basically mean with their AVC receivers is that you can have the number of channels advertised, or AVC, but not both.

I have the Bronco and the blazer I installed the DX5C into the Bronco and to the Bronco and the Bronco is slower than the blazer in both gears could that be something that has to do with the radio?
It's probably different motors, gearing, esc, etc. But, there are rates that can be turned up on the radio. All the rates are at 100% default when you un box the radio. The video explains it well, just watch both parts all the way thru.
#UPGRADEDRC - Many thanks brother for the in depth Tutorial on this complexed Transmitters!! I was able to bind my #6s #Notorious / #6s #KRATON with SR6100AT receivers along with AVC Technology w/ no problem!! You made it a very easy to understand all of the options and menu's that can be a bit confusing if you never have owned one! I have a question since I went with the SR315 DSMR 3-Channel Sport Receiver for my 3s Typhon which would be model # 3 on my DX5C receiver. Instead of a bind plug for the SR315 DSMR 3-Channel Sport Receiver you just hold a button which i did and completed the bind mode and name the model TYPHON and everything worked perfectly for my 1st session ok!!! Now before i WENT out for my second speed run I went to punch level to 5 instead of the default setting from the factory which comes at 3. Ok no problem, got it to punch level 5 and went to turn on the DX5C w/ SR315 DSMR 3-Channel Sport Receiver and for some odd reason I can not turn the steering from right to left. My servo seems to work just find but it seems like it does not have enough torque to turn the servo saver arm since it turns but only 20% instead of 100%! The Throttle works and forward and reverse W/ NO PROBLEM but cant get the steering to turn my wheels. You can actually hear my Savox servo trying to turn my HR bellcrank but it just seems like it does not have enough power to turn my wheels from left to right all of the way! i HAVE TRIED TO rebind it with a new model but still cant get those wheel to turn like the every first run! Could it be my servo horn but whats wired is everything worked the first time WHEN i FIRST BINDED the SR315 DSMR 3-Channel Sport Receiver w/ my DXC5 Transmitter! I am clueless and could use some help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I think I found why it won’t bind but I will have to wait till the morning. I didn’t set the frame rate since I’ve never ever had to do it. I’m old school and all my cars are over 10 years old and this technology didn’t exist for the common basher.
Hey thanks for the informative video. Just bought this transmitter with the SR415 receiver. For no.6 in binding, "move throttle channel to the desired failsafe position" is that just neutral? Or am I supposed to hit full brake?
I see, although the throttle channel was reversed so I had to rebind anyway So I set a bind for a full-brake failsafe to test if my Arrma Notorious would fly off in reverse if I turned my transmitter off. It enabled the brakes when the car was in forward throttle mode at the time I turned the transmitter off, however the car DOES fly off in reverse when you're reversing the car at the time of radio loss 😵😵😵 unlikely as that is Not the radio's fault, I'm guessing all radios have a failsafe that works like this because they can't differentiate between brake and reverse, but this is why I set the failsafe to neutral instead of full brake, I'd rather the car stop by hitting a wall than risk watching it from a distance going on a reversing rampage lol
@@upgradedrc3697 He is talking about the throttle limits...the DX2E Active control has a switch for 50/75/100.....I too am watching this video to see how to adjust these on the DX5C.

You know, thats a great question. Some people will say yes, and others no. I don't vuse it in my crawler. I found that a smaller pinyon gear will give way more control at slower speeds than AVC. So i guess it's up to you.
I do not use AVC in any of my crawler but my basher yes and my drift cars and if your racing drag car you shouldn't but if your just missing around yes
i am kinda newer to crawlers and surface vehicles. what brand of rx s are able to bind to this radio. i know several brands of rx s will bind with spektrum plane fadios. also lets say i buy another brand rtr vehicle and want to use this radio. do i have to change the rx to a spektrum?
I have the sr6100at receiver and can't calibrate the throttle. When calibrate steering R N L it's good but I can't calibrate the throttle. Pull back to full throttle nothing back to neutral nothing full brake both throttle and neutral say ok but motor won't spin.
There is no drag brake on this radio. The brake is controled by the esc being programed on some esc and others have pin that can be changed from 100% to 0% in increments
New to the group and have been having a bit of an issue trying to incorporate my winch to my radio system without having to get a separate control box. I'm running the spektrum dx5c with the sr415 4ch reciever is it possible to do what I'm trying to do and operate the winch off one of the 2 auxiliary channels open on the reciever?? Any help will be greatly appreciated
@@upgradedrc3697 can you please tell me how to do it with the dx5c transmitter? I acquired it with no manual and don't have the paper to print it out off the net
@@chadcheney7597 plug in you winch to an auxiliary channel. Then select that channel on the radio and assign a button or switch to operate the winch. That should be all you need to do.
I have a dx5pro. I am using lights for my aux1 and aux2. Your review I think just confirmed that it's not possible for me to turn the lights on and off upon demand. Is this true?
When you select a different model it has all it's own settings. Your setting will stay the same on each model the way you set it up. So that each model has it's own settings and will not change. Every time you add a new model it will start over with the default settings only for the new model, then adjust your settings for that model and save. When you switch back to the previous model all the settings will the same as you left them.

But everything else... is really weird. I was hoping I could set the throttle travel/rate to something lower so when kids ask to play with my RC car it doesn't haul ass but when I reduce either one I lose the ability to brake.

Did you turn off the AVC? It will not work with the sr315 and can cause problems usually with the steering.
Thankyou! Sir this saved me Thankyou so much!
I think I found why it won’t bind but I will have to wait till the morning. I didn’t set the frame rate since I’ve never ever had to do it. I’m old school and all my cars are over 10 years old and this technology didn’t exist for the common basher.
The DATA port makes for a nice Binding Plug storage...always have it with me...
Hey thanks for the informative video. Just bought this transmitter with the SR415 receiver. For no.6 in binding, "move throttle channel to the desired failsafe position" is that just neutral? Or am I supposed to hit full brake?
If the failsafe is set to full brakes, won't that risk my car from flying off in reverse if it lost signal? My ESC is set to FWD/BRK/REV
It is a little bit deceiving in the book, but it is preset for you already
I see, although the throttle channel was reversed so I had to rebind anyway
So I set a bind for a full-brake failsafe to test if my Arrma Notorious would fly off in reverse if I turned my transmitter off. It enabled the brakes when the car was in forward throttle mode at the time I turned the transmitter off, however the car DOES fly off in reverse when you're reversing the car at the time of radio loss 😵😵😵 unlikely as that is
Not the radio's fault, I'm guessing all radios have a failsafe that works like this because they can't differentiate between brake and reverse, but this is why I set the failsafe to neutral instead of full brake, I'd rather the car stop by hitting a wall than risk watching it from a distance going on a reversing rampage lol
The stock remote for the arrma infraction has 3 options for the speed, how do I adjusts those options after binding to my smart remote?
Sorry I honestly don't know
@@upgradedrc3697 He is talking about the throttle limits...the DX2E Active control has a switch for 50/75/100.....I too am watching this video to see how to adjust these on the DX5C.
did you ever figure it out mo Hawk?
@@LayneSteighlee ?
Can this version of the transmitter display telemetry data?
No
Damn, alright. Appreciate it sir
So I can bind my car and calibrate the esc but when I power it off and then go to run it again I have to re bind because the transmitter or my reciever doesn't respond.
What receiver and transmitter are you using?
I'm using the DX5C and the SRX200 reciever.
I just upgraded my reciever and it fixed the issue.
@@MetalModelMaster That's great to hear. Glad it's fixed for you.
I didn’t need a bind plug with my kraton?
how do i address my steering from the start after binding and calibration. its not going straight or should it be.
Adjust your steering trim until its straight.
My friend I need some help. I just bind my spectrum DX5C to my Outcast when I turn right it goes left. When I turn left it goes right need help
Can not believe the price has gone up so much.
Hi! How can i factory reset that thing? 🤔 I bought it used and wanna reset it completely.
How would this compare to the rugged version?
Almost the same except for the rugged case and the selector buttons instead of the thumb wheel which lots of people hate Lol!
what a perfect video, thx!
HELP! Just switched from the basic Specktrum tx for my spekrum DBX Pro. One feature I cannot figure out. Originally when you pushed foward for brake followed another quick push forward the reverse would activate. With the dx5. Pro its messed up.Push forward on tx and it immediately goes into reverse.😢
There is a setting on your esc for this. Usually you have a choice of fwd/rev or fwd/stop/rev
Thanks love it, awsome thanks again ❤️
Should AVC be used in a crawler?
Great video and it's a great alternative to stock traxxas. I have 1
Thanks brother 🤟
great video
I have the sr6100at receiver and can't calibrate the throttle. When calibrate steering R N L it's good but I can't calibrate the throttle. Pull back to full throttle nothing back to neutral nothing full brake both throttle and neutral say ok but motor won't spin.
It took me acouple of times also. I found that it was all about the pause inbetween throttle and brake. It's a littlebit tricky.
Thanks a bunch!
How do set up the fail safe on this remote
If you leave it centered it sets it self. Just forward, reverse, center, release. its automatic unless u change it.
Glad I got this one over the rugged one
Can I reverse my steering on this remote
Yes, go to reverse on the main menu, then just pic steering and click on it.
is there a radio that is not so confusing? was condidering futuba
In my experience Futaba is more cpmplicated.
I'm having a problem with setting up my aux option on my radio. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Great videos btw
What problem are you having?
I'm curious what are all the cans of ed and such used for are there lil trick uses they are used for ?
I'm sorry, i don't understand the question you are asking me?
How to I turn down my Brake since its set at 100%?
There is no drag brake on this radio. The brake is controled by the esc being programed on some esc and others have pin that can be changed from 100% to 0% in increments
@@upgradedrc3697 Thanks but I figured out how to turn down brakes on my Radio from 100% to 60% for my ARRMA Infraction ..
one comment, when dissabling the AVC the will blink when on to show that AVC is dissabled
I'm not sure, never disabled mine. I would assume that it just won't do anything.
@@upgradedrc3697 It does blink, the reason is so race officials can see that it is indeed disabled
My baby touched something now my throttle is reversed. Pull for reverse and push out for throttle how do I fix this
On the main menu select reverse, then scroll down to throttle and switch it back to normal. Super easy.😎👍🤙
whats range on it? does it have a anolog throttle limiter ?
No. Analog theottle limiter. Distance is around 1/4 mile
UPGRADED RC thanks , is it more responsive that SXT 2 and is there a throttle limiter at all ?
Yes, it is more responsive. But does not have throttle limiter
But, you could turn down the rates and limit the throttle that way.
UPGRADED RC EPA ? Lot of them have it now . End point adjustment
Yes, you should be able to use an auxiliary channel for your winch.
No, you should be able to.
@@upgradedrc3697 how would I be able too? Should I make a video to show you?
You should be able to plug lights into receiver aux, pick button and assign it to the lights.
How do you set failsafe on AVC receiver ?
How do I program a car and it stays programmed on that car and not carry over when I select another car
I got it after the 2nd video. I had bind after any changes. 👍🙏
Always rebind if you make changes!!!!
@@integrityrc7356 You don't have to bind after all changes . Only if you change the servo reversing after binding, or change the travel after binding or use a different receiver!
That is pretty much what I got from your video. Very helpful. Thanks again. Will definitely press on your button again. 🙏
Thank you
Great vid and have a question as to why when I Set my DX5C SPECTRUM in Aux assign i want to assign Aux 2 for my dynamite kill switch but it keeps going back Aux 1 for some reason...WHY is it doing the after i set it to AUX 2...Why
Do you have AVC. Is it on and automatically assigned to aux 2?
@@upgradedrc3697 I have been trying to disable it in transmitter and binding using 2 bind plugs my transmitter is also making a repeated sound when squeezing the trigger on my Dx5c spectrum or using the brakes
Should I just use Aux 3 which is not assigned to anything
@@kennethcombs4419 trying to disable what? and why are you trying to bind with 2 bind plugs?
Yes, just use Aux 3

Is it possible to run the dx5c off nimh batteries instead of aa ?
Honestly, i'm not sure
@@upgradedrc3697 I found out I can I just need to solder a connector on to the wires. Going to use a 4.8v 2000mah nimh pack.
Savox steering servo wouldn't extend all the way....100%-150% no diff....turned out to be frame rate. Was set at 22. Thank you sir.
Thanks.
just unboxed it, thanks.
I was really pumped to use this but I guess it doesn't do what I thought it would. Setting endpoints, what my TQi wouldn't do on my Stampede 2WD because my servo is in reverse, no problem. But everything else... is really weird. I was hoping I could set the throttle travel/rate to something lower so when kids ask to play with my RC car it doesn't haul ass but when I reduce either one I lose the ability to brake.
Use the exponential and servo rates to slow down the aggressiveness of the beast. Works great for my grand kids
I have all wheel steer rock boncer my receiver went out can I just use 3 channel receiver on the dx5c and if so will it work with off brand receiver
Honestly I'm not sure. But i would think so with some adapters maybe.
I like your vid it help me i just got one
since switching to this remote none of my cars go in reverse and have no brake.i cant calibrate any of my esc's, when I go into full reverse the esc wont recognize. how do I fix this?! ive only used stock transmitters so im totally lost
Check your servo travel and rates. Make sure their not all the way to one side having more travel than the other side. Does the esc bind well with the radio?
Yes it binds well I just can’t calibrate my esc
ahhh makes sense, and of course I used hook and loop lol
How do you delete a model from the memory?
Go to model select. Select the model to delete, then scroll down to delete and select it. super simple!
@@upgradedrc3697 Which button do you use to delete after you select the model?
Scroll down with the thumb wheel to delete and push the thumb wheel to select. Did you watch the video?
Does this transmitter read out telemetry?
Can this be used to turn off and on LED lights on my Gen 8 if I want to?
Yes
How much do they cost to buy and wots the range on it
I paid $129,00 @ the local hobby shop. The range is a lot farther than u can see. About a mile i think.
