      I have had rotator cuff issues and tears for years, limiting my progress. I have tried years of 'classic' PT and they never got better.
      Will I be able to progress and gain mastery of the pushup (and my body) with your method? Given these issues?
      I am at the end of my rope.

    I have done push-ups that help with flexibility and strength like the scorpion, hindu, bakc bridge, (duh), ninja pushups and more. I'm also focusing on flares as well.

    I love working on my one arm pushups by doing wall pushups and working up by slowly lowering the incline.

    I'm almost 70 and have been working out at home since March and still haven't managed a full push up from the ground. I do inclines from as high as the wall to as low as I can go, I do standard planks 3 x 1 minute with a 30 second rest and I use free weights and resistance bands etc. I'm interested to know what kind of plank you're recommending here to progress? Thank you.

    • @dexaler9008
      @dexaler9008 Місяць тому +2

      Just throwing this out there but based on the video he doesn't recommend doing planks at all to achieve pushups. Instead, he suggests getting into push up position and doing micro pushups at the top. Or getting into lowered push up position and doing micro pushups at the bottom. The wall push ups are the part where he talks about "changing the angle" so that seems like something you should continue according to the video. If it were me trying to get my first full push up from the ground I would do that pulsing at the top of the pushup and and the bottom of the push up for a couple of weeks and see if that helps! Good luck!

      @@dexaler9008 Thanks. I did some research since posting my comment and it seems that a Push Up position PLANK as opposed to the normal elbow plank can do more for your triceps. I'll give them a try or at least mix them and see how it feels. I reckon that the partial ROM is also going to be a winner.

      Look at forming the top position of a pushup, listen to Lee descrbie the Turtle hollow, then do reps downward until you reach collapse point. Then do reps from bottom up, until collapse point. Your collapse points will move toward the center, from day to day, until you complete a pushup.

    I've been doing micro movements for pull-ups because full range pull-ups hurt.

  • @proverbalizer

    6:22 anyone who can do this can do multiple reps of push-ups,
    and anyone who can't do a single push-up can't do this either, they will be flat on the floor with a quickness

    • @recbo
      @recbo 29 днів тому

      Lee covers that, "flat on the floor", when he says start at the top, do mini down to fall point, start at bottom, do mini again to collapse point. Bring those ends together, to one whole pushup.

    • @proverbalizer
      @proverbalizer 29 днів тому +2

      @@recbo if you can't do a push-up, then there is no "start at the bottom" it's a non starter, you will simply start at the bottom and remain at the bottom
      for example I can't do a 1-arm push-up...anyone who tells me I should fix that by doing mini-1 arm pushups with my arm bent at a 90 degree angle sounds crazy....it's 100% impossible, and it would only be possible if I already had the strength necessary to do a 1 arm pushup

    • @recbo
      @recbo 29 днів тому +1

      @proverbalizer For some, start at the top, take the turtle position Lee describes, do mini reps down toward collapse. Days, weeks, months, later, that will develop strength to start at the bottom.

    • @recbo
      @recbo 29 днів тому

      @proverbalizer Also as far as 1 arm pushup, or 1 leg squat, dont start working on that before you can do quite a few two arm or two leg reps. I'll leave out a specific number, because this is Lee Weiland's yt. I will say I get to a point on the way up, and lift a hand or foot, or start down on one arm or leg, then engage the other arm or leg. That may not be as good as adding a variant like Lee mentions, or adding a static hold like horse, snake etc.

    • @proverbalizer
      @proverbalizer 28 днів тому +2

      @@recbo i can max 90-100 clean full ROM pushups, but the going gets really slow after 50. I can max 50 in 1 minute, but getting to 100 takes almost 6 min
      Pistol squats are easy already. And shrimp squats are pretty easy strength wise, but the hip mobility is harder, and my ankle mobility is absolutely maxed out, by the time my other knee gets all the way to the ground my heel has to come off the ground slightly
      I'll work on 1 arm push-ups at the top. But I also don't see anything bad about trying them on my knees ..It's a a good benchmark for me right now because it takes a max effort to complete a full ROM 1 arm knee push-up. On a good day I might get 3, but on an off day it's 0
