I have chronic fatigue syndrome too and have been recovering for the last year or so. I am not sure if it's helpful in any way but here's what has really been helping me so far:
    - *fixing my gut* : I did a microbiome test and turned out to have a couple of bacterial strains out of balance
    - *eating mainly whole foods* and limiting refined sugars, caffeine (def cut out all caffeine because it taxes your already overworked adrenal glands) and gluten.
    - *prioritising health over ANYTHING* : as someone who looooves to work and be active this one was a hard one because it's hard for me to 'turn off' and take a break when i know i still have so many things that i want to squeeze in my day. I actually stopped working all together to focus on my health and it's been really helpful.
    - *having a set evening routine* : dinner at the same time every night and after that no more work related things, and then going to bed around the same time. The first few months of recovery i slept about 11 hours a night because that's how much i needed to feel somewhat decent in the morning. Now I am doing fine with just the regular 9 hours a night.
    - *limiting stress as much as possible* : at the beginning of my recovery that meant even cutting out all scary movies because those would give me heart palpitations 😅
    - *taking regular breaks during the day to either nap or meditate* : this will give you a mini reset during the day and give your body and nervous system a chance to catch up and re-energise just a little bit.
    - *meditation* : as I just mentioned, giving your nervous system a break is soooo vital. Meditation really made me aware of my anxious thought patterns and how they were contributing to my symptoms. Taking a few minutes to fully switch off in meditation has been one of THE most important things in my recovery.
    - *identifying unhealthy mental patterns* : It could also help to talk to a therapist because so often our bodies get out of balance because of the thoughts and beliefs we have. For me, I felt like i alway had to be on my A game, my whole self-worth was tied to my productivity and work. So working on finding myself outside of work has been so pivotal.
I know all of these sound like very basic things to do, but they really do work if you stay consistent with it. Your body knows how to heal itself you just have to create the right environment around you to allow this to happen.
Also a really good book to read is 'When the body says No' from Gabor Maté, highly recommend it! I had so many lightbulb moments reading through it.
    xx

I really think you guys need to chill. You need rest. You’re new parents, renovating a house, just did a huge clothing campaign basically twice and had loads of stress with that and on top of all that you’re putting your life out to thousands of people daily on UA-cam and Instagram.
I’ve had an anxiety disorder for years and I know all the symptoms Kurt described.
You guys really need rest and time for yourselves. It’s not shameful to do that and it’s not shameful to admit that you need time off and change things about your lifestyle.
As Kurt said, his blood results came out super healthy, so a change of diet probably won’t take care of the problem.
I wish y’all the best and hope that you can find some time to rest and recharge.

Hi Sarah and Kurt! It seems like you are getting hundreds of internet diagnoses from internet doctors, but I felt like I just had to say something on the off chance you hadn’t considered this. I’ve been watching your channel since you got pregnant with Fox and it felt like you were a friend throughout my pregnancy with my little boy :) I’m a clinical psychologist, and all the symptoms Kurt has shared with us in this video are extremely common anxiety symptoms (Chronic fatigue, dizziness, heart palpitations). Anxiety often manifests as physical symptoms, some other common ones are gastrointestinal problems, shakiness, headaches. I just wanted to highly recommend considering this if you have not already. I saw someone mentioned you had tried meditation, anxiety like this would likely require a bit more than just meditation such as working with a CBT therapist. Anxiety can cause havoc on your digestion so even if you have the healthiest diet digestion can still be an issue. Anyway, feel free to ignore the advice if you have already considered this. All the best from a fellow boy mama!

Licensed therapist here as well, but I see it a bit differently. Physical symptoms can produce anxiety, and anxiety can go away once the physical issue has been treated. Both your statement and the one I just wrote are both true. It's not one-directionally causal. They mentioned in the video he has been diagnosed with SIBO. While CBT *might* help his stress-related anxiety, it won't get rid of the anxiety being caused by SIBO. Even if our physical manifestations are caused initially by anxiety, they can't be treated with just a mental health approach.

I was going to mention the same thing! I had the same symptoms for over 1 year until I had a full on anxiety attack where I literally thought I was dying. One of the things that really helped me is to stop drinking coffee. I was super sensitive to the caffeine and it would make my heart beat super fast, i would hyper ventilate etc..

You don’t have to have this big, amazing, planned wedding. You can have a simple wedding and be happily married forever. Stress is the silent killer. Stress will kill you faster than heart disease. The glorification of “being busy” is soul crushing. Having the content worthy wedding of your dreams won’t necessarily make your married life happier.
Give yourselves some grace and take the pressure off a little. Belongings are worth nothing when you’re on your death bed, you won’t look at your stomach and say “I’m so proud of my abs”, you will look into the faces of the people you love and hold their warm, loving hands. You won’t look at your real estate portfolio and pat yourself on the back. Look below the surface, beneath the material objects and shiny new things and excessive emails and deadlines and remember that it isn’t meant to be a “hustle”.
You already have that deep, beautiful connection with your fiancé and son and your loving family. Those are the truly happy inducing things one needs in their life. No one needs a hero. Fox won’t care if he has famous parents, he’ll care that mum and dad were truly present in his life and didn’t become overwhelmed and out of control with simple, daily tasks because stress and anxiety took over.
Take the pressure off. You’re already amazing parents, I’d love to see you all thrive and be happy. Some of the happiest people I’ve cared for in their old age are the ones who chose the simple life x

I know you’re probably sick of hearing people say this but from the symptoms you put on your story and this vlog it really seems like clinical depression/anxiety - not just doing surfing to cheer up kinda anxiety but more chemical imbalance in the brain. A lot of people don’t realise the physical effects it can have. Obviously no professional, purely speaking from personal experience.
Idk could be worth seeing a psychiatrist🤷🏼‍♀️ Whatever it ends up being I hope you guys get some closure and help and I hope you feel better soon Kurt, sending strength!

Yeah, I had a depressive episode for the first time recently and I honestly thought there was something physically wrong. I cannot explain how tired I was. And all it took was upping my meds (I was taking them for anxiety) and instantly everything was fixed. I couldn't believe I suffered for so long when the fix was so easy.

Harri Foley so true - Same for me and medication worked wonders. I was utterly incapacitated for no reason (awesome life, career, husband, health etc) for YEARS and often couldn’t get out of bed. Was exhausted beyond belief. A lot of this sounds like depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. He looks in this video like a classic case.....it’s not weakness.

As someone who’s suffered from a chronic unknown illness, depression, anxiety and those sorts of mental illnesses are often comorbid with those unknown health problems. And just putting that label of mental illness on a multitude of symptoms won’t solve the problem a lot of times. Granted being on those medications to treat depression and anxiety can serve useful, it can almost be a cop out for doctors who have no idea what’s happening with their patient. I’m not saying this to be rude, and while I think there’s truth to what you’re saying, I think it’s also important to validate those who are suffering like Kurt and I :)

This video was an amazing reminder for all of us to slow down and enjoy life! I was diagnosed with SIBO a year and a half ago. From the beginning of mild symptoms to the point where I couldn’t eat 2 bites of food without running to the bathroom and getting sick was three months long. I finally went to a gastroenterologist and had to go on a very restrictive diet as well. Mine was not fixed by diet alone, so I had to go on 4 antibiotics at once for 2 weeks. I was taking a different medication every three hours almost and was getting sick every morning bc my body was trying to get rid of the bacteria. After about a month my bacteria was back to an “acceptable” level. I still have sensitivities to certain foods and flare ups if I don’t avoid those foods, but I am doing much better. Sarah’s channel is full of recipes and other info that has really helped me improve my gut health and my overall health. I am so grateful for this channel and so grateful that Sarah and Kurt are willing to share so much!

Im never active in the comment section but I just couldn’t help myself to write this down in a hope that you guys can read it. I’m practicing psychologist and psychotherapist and to me it looks like Kurt’s symptoms are due to his mental health. And I met so many patients experiencing similar symptoms and didn’t realize that they were struggling with anxiety, depression and other issues. People that are going through this kind of stuff can live like a ‘normal person’, you don’t need to be ‘sad’ to have a depression, you don’t have to feel ‘frightened’ or ‘weak’ to have an anxiety attacks. You can be highly functioning person and despite that (or because of actually, cause the pressure that you put on yourself is that high that causes some of disturbances) STILL doesn’t recognize that you’re struggling with stress, anxiety or depression. I have patients that are so successful in so many areas in their life, and mainly happy for what they have, and what they do but it is not a boundary to mental health issues to occur. You can feel ‘normal’ and don’t have any clue that this is something your mind and emotions telling you but even that is partially unconscious it is still real! Please, look for someone that is certified to work with mental health issues , meditation and eating balance diet won’t be a cure, it can only be a part of the healthy lifestyle. Seek a PROFESSIONAL help, like CBT. Psychotherapy changes life forEVER and for GOOD. Find someone that you can trust and take this opportunity to know yourself better, to grow, you won’t regret it! Take this into the consideration, please.

Especially if he underwent so many tests including CT and heart investigations, if the doctors can't find anything that seems to be the source of his problems, it could be mental health issues. I don't know if you guys had a consultation with a rheumatologist, but it may also help. Lots of love❤️

It honestly sounds like Kurt might have anxiety? I thought I had brain cancer or MS or some neurological disease for years, but was too scared to go to the doctor. Turns out, I have anxiety! I'd get dizzy, feel sick, have heart palpitations, had weird headaches, my limbs would feel tingly sometimes, all these weird non-specific symptoms. The scariest was definitely the daily stomachaches and lightning zaps I'd feel in my head. I didn't think it was anxiety, as it didn't feel like I thought anxiety felt. It felt too serious to be purely mental. It wasn't fight or flight and it would happen when I wasn't stressed out. But anxiety is weird... and very treatable, thank god.

About Kurt's health: I had the same symptomes as Kurt around age 25! Bloodwork scans etc came out fine. After a long search one doctor finally decided to test my hormones...my levels of cortisol where extremely low and other hormones totally out of balance as well. Turned out I had a huge burn out. Unfortunatly I've been too deep and live with chronic fatigue now. Haven't been able to get back to work for 5 years now. BE CAREFULL PLEASE. Chronic stress can lead to chronic illness and changes your life forever. We are also renovating and I know how stressfull it is. Please seriously slow down before it's too late. And I don't mean taking 2 weeks off. I mean big changes in terms of workload and daily stress levels. Just an advice, I don't want to sound bossy or anything. It just hits me cause I live the consequences and I wouldn't want it to happen to u❤️
*About exercise: Heavy exercises uses up your corisol. Which is bad idea if u are low on it...very low corisol can be dangerouse. Walking outside and light movements are what your body needs now, do not put any form of stress on your body with cardio training etc. Love and hope things get better!xxx

When you talked about our cultures glamorization of the grind I literally said “yes yes yes” out loud. I don’t know you guys, but as a health professional (particularly in mental health and how it impacts your whole life), it made me so so so happy, proud, and excited for you two to be learning this hard lesson. It’s so hard to put blinders on when everyone else is running themselves into the ground and calling it success, but when people say to me “I have three jobs, I’m in school with a 4.2 gpa, have a partner and volunteer 15 hours a week” I say to myself “yes but I’m happier”.

I always felt so inspired of your positive thinking and acting - even knowing that no one can always be positive and happy... I feel really sad now because I feel like there are so many people in this world hiding behind their virtual names and judging, blaming others for everything. I wish they would just stop and we would be protected against taking stupid comments right to our hearts even if we are pretending that we are able to handle. Hey guys! I’m so sorry to hear about Kurt’s health struggles. I suffer from ME/CFS and recognise a lot of my symptoms in Kurt. I felt “off” for five years with constant low energy, brain fog, dizziness, heart palpitations, gut issues, etc... people kept telling me that I must just be “burnt out” but it felt so much deeper than that. My blood tests consistently returned “normal” results and I was told by doctors that I was just unfit, depressed, or overworked. I knew that none of these things were true. In January this year, my body finally crashed and I was forced to resign from work because I couldn’t take care of myself any more. I was later diagnosed with SIBO and POTS among other things, and with months of deep rest and very careful management, I’m finally starting to improve. I would love to help out and offer tips & advice so that Kurt doesn’t end up crashing like I did. I know how painful it is to feel like you’re losing grip on yourself, so please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message 💓 I hope Kurt has a good health day soon!

YES! Low cortisol and testosteron, dizzyness, extreme fatigue,...this is adrenal exhaustion due to Chronic stress and high levels of cortisol for a long period! It's clearly a burn out! His story of tests that come out fine is like a stereotype when it comes to burn out. Many doctors are not educated on this. I see many comments suggesting 'anxiety'. But that's only a symptome between many symptomes. The source is burn out. No suprise, being a father of a toddler, big renovations, running a UA-cam Channel, working long days,...It's a lot and very normal to get a burn out from this. At one moment the body says "enough". I hope all the best for Kurt and that he finds a doctor with the needed knowledge about burn out and the looong list of symptomes it brings. It indeed can cause that your whole body isn't working properly anymore. It's all connected. The inbalanced hormones, bacterial growth, sugar levels, the heart, infections in the body, jointpain and body aches., headaches etc etc.

Hi Sarah. As a person who has mostly recovered from chronic fatigue. I'm about 90% recovered at this stage. I can tell a lot of Kurt's symptoms are the same that mine was at the beginning. CFS is so complex, it involves the gut, anxiety and mental health and overall lifestyle. If there's one thing I've learnt from healing myself, it's that sickness is not a punishment it's a sign that something is not working anymore in your life. It calls us to change. Everyone I've watched and researched over the years with CFS and who have healed, not only that but other auto immune diseases, have always focused on not fighting with yourself, it can be so easy to feel angry with your body and your circumstance, I realised that when I let go embraced the fatigue, the pain, and just gave myself that ability to breathe. I started to recover. My intuition opened up and I was able to tap into that and figure out the next steps. We live in a culture of same-time fix, this kind of issue can't be solved that way. You can solve a disease with the same energy that created it. You can't go into overdrive and use productivity to fix yourself, that's counter intuitive. Slowing down is the best thing he can do for himself right now, a more spiritual path is calling him. All the best

Hi! I know you’re getting so many good replies on here but just wanted to throw mine in from a medical standpoint. Stress can play a MAJOR role in our health. I see it all the time and even myself personally have experienced the negative effects. For 2 years I was training several days a week, eating well and loved my job. But I had gone through a traumatic assault and even though I was working through it in therapy I experienced so many of the same symptoms as Kurt. I would highly recommend he speak to a psychologist (the stigma is something we should all work to break) and also a health coach. He’s renovating a house, had a baby unexpectedly, is dating an influence, an influencer himself, working like crazy and the world is falling apart. Bloodwork and scams can’t always show the psychological effects but I urge you (and truly hope you see this) to find a way to achieve balance. Best of luck!

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments saying Kurt may be experiencing anxiety/mental health struggles. I notice that you didn’t mention any mental health professionals as a part of your diagnostic/treatment team. I really hope you look into including mental health professionals as a part of this healing journey! No conversation about health is complete if it doesn’t include mental health. I LOVE your message at the end of the video to slow down and stop hustling, and I really look forward to you including more mental health content in this healing journey! I come from a family who struggles with mental illness and works in mental health care. I know first hand how the right mental health treatment (be it therapy or medications or both) can honestly work miracles! ❤️

Couldn’t agree with you more! I see a psychologist even though I am not diagnosed with a mental health illness, but I still think it is such an important part of my health when I am feeling stressed and overwhelmed. I can’t even imagine the stress they would both be under and even though you may not have a typical diagnosis, taking some dedicated time, even if it is once a month to speak to someone can make the world of difference. It is so true that a problem shared is a problem halved! I have learnt so much in a short amount of time from my psychologist and couldn’t recommend seeing one enough if you are able to ☺️

    • @SydneyConnectsDots

@@ChannaUrchill Because most MH 'Professionals' try to fix things with drugs - they don't even know how these drugs work properly, how to discontinue them properly or how they interact with other drugs - it's all a big guessing game that comes from reading the DSM (which keeps adding labels to every edition). The gut produces 95% of the body's Serotonin and an out of whack gut can produce symptoms that appear like mind issues, anxiety or depression, people are getting misdiagnosed as having 'mental health' issues and are given mind altering neuroleptics which produce completely new symptoms which are then 'fixed' with new drugs. Do your own research and read the side-effects! Always best to get to the root cause of symptoms and HEAL which is exactly what Sarah and Kurt have done. Sydney Diva please don’t over generalise. A good GP will refer a person to see a psychologist for therapy, in my experience they don’t always give out prescriptions for medication at the first step. Perhaps you’ve had this experience, which sucks, however your comment could influence people not to reach out to their doctor if they are having a mental health crisis and that could be hazardous. To anyone reading this who is struggling with mental health: reach out to a GP and get on a mental health care plan so you can see a psychologist. If symptoms don’t improve then you can look at medication. Being on medication isn’t a bad thing, it’s helped millions of people and you don’t have to be on it forever! Much love xxx

His symptoms sound exactly like when I struggled with anxiety when I was younger. I didn't know at the time that it was anxiety, but have realised it was afterwards. I only had physical symptoms, but felt fine mentally, but it was still a kind of anxiety. I was constantly dizzy, struggled breathing sometimes, had chest pains, felt sick constantly, got headaches etc. Literally just felt overall like crap. The dizziness was the main symptom though. When I found out it was anxiety and got help for that it went away and today I only feel it certain days and then I know what to do about it! Could be worth checking up, because sometimes it can be because of a chemical imbalance in your brain, like it was for me, even though you have nothing to be anxious about. Good luck!! xx

I just have to say how lucky Kurt is to have such a caring invested partner who truly is so compassionate and empathetic taking on his health issues and working at it together as a team to solve it. I myself have been struggling with my health the past year. I’ve slowly realized That when you don’t have definite answers from doctors people are really quick to chime in on their opinions and think they know exactly what’s wrong and analyze your lifestyle and what you need to change. Strangely it opens up a space from criticism instead of support unfortunately. It’s crazy people think that you don’t spend all day trying to solve it yourself and thinking of all the possibilities! So when someone suggests something like “anxiety” like that hasn’t crossed your mind after 2 YEARS of trying to figure this out I’m sure it’s beyond frustrating. I’m so sorry Kurt is dealing with that truly. Don’t give up and don’t listen to all the neg people here. keep on fighting to get to the bottom of it. So sorry to hear about this situation but happy to know that you have some clarity on your health and having answers must feel so relieving!
I’ve recently been diagnosed with SIBO, and honestly I went through similar symptoms to Kurt. Originally for months, I’d feel fatigued, I didn’t have as much energy as I used to and always thought there was something wrong with me. I became so frustrated because as a foodie and obsessed with health I was trying to troubleshoot everything and couldn’t find answers. Blood tests, ECG results which were clear, I had a gastroscopy, gastric emptying test and showed small results of inflammation and slow gut motility but they put it down to just anxiety. After months of crying, feeling so lost and sick I went in my own limb and went to see a naturopath and she helped me understand and realise that I have SIBO after doing breath tests! Such a crazy thing to learn how it all happens but there’s always a way up and right now, Kurt this will be an uprise for you! It may require a bit of inner work and shifting but things will get better! Anxiety and stress play a HUGE part in SIBO, I suffer from it chronically and crazy to think how much it impacts this diagnosis. Wishing you all the best to you Sarah and Kurt, health is such a complex thing sometimes but I hope we can be on top in the end and come out stronger than ever! Xxx

I would definitely suggest getting your hormone levels checked! Also, in terms of treatment, I would look into frequency therapy. Each body has an individual frequency, kind of like a thumbprint. And each system (I.e.., gut, heart, hormones, etc.) has an individual frequency within YOUR frequency. My mom was diagnosed and has since been treated for a super rare form of lymphoma, but still struggles with her thyroid and lymphedema. We have both been using this device that tunes in to your individual frequencies that administers a similar frequency to stimulate each system. If you would like to know which part of your body needs the most help, you can run a resonance analysis and it shows you which system is hurting the most. I can personally attest to this, I used it once, every day for a month and the day I started my period it told me that I needed to run a menstrual program (which had never shown up before). It’s been a life saver for her energy levels, digestive system, and weight management. I started using it and my eczema has completely cleared up and I help my gut when I do decide to eat dairy or gluten (I’m also dairy & gluten intolerant). The device we use is called he Healy, but I’m sure there are other methods of frequency therapy out there!

I experienced similar things and just generally feeling unwell with dizziness and headaches and weird aches and pains etc. Could also be related to blood pressure changes, or sinus issues... As a mental health counselor and someone who experienced very similar symptoms (when to gastro specialist, blood work, heart work) I came to terms that it was anxiety. The “not knowing” was just playing into all my symptoms and it became a vicious cycle. I’ve come to terms with it. When I feel symptoms I take it as my body’s way of telling me “take care of me.” I hear it, I name it and I do something. It could be reassuring me that I am okay (relaxing my central nervous system), enjoying something I really want, talking to others about it, etc. Also, important to note that gut and anxiety issues have a very high comorbidity. So I wouldn’t be surprise if attending to gut issues will make Kurt feel better and/ or attending to (possible) anxiety deep related issues will help his (possible) gut issues. In my practice folks that are high “producers” often struggle to come to terms with their anxiety because for a long time that anxiety was a driver of them delivering a lot of work. Hope this makes some sense and sending best wishes for Kurt to feel better

Hey Sarah & Kurt! I really enjoyed this new video and your strength to open up about your personal lives and struggles. I know this message is one of many and might be a bit repetitive but you mentioned that viewers might have more insight on what could be going on with Kurt's health. A little info about me, I'm a nurse in the states. I'm currently dealing with similar symptoms that Kurt's going through and was recently diagnosed with anixety/depression. One thing we're taught in school is that poor mental health can manifest into physical symptoms. Heart palpitations, upset stomach, fatigue, etc. Two months went by where I just didn't feel like myself and couldn't figure out what was going on. I'm normally an efficient, energetic, people-loving person. But i started having to remind myself to take a shower or making myself go out to see friends. Please don't take this as me trying to diagnose Kurt. Obviously I only see a small fraction of your lives and there's so much more behind the scenes. Just something to think about. I know the internet is full of lots of opinions and the negative voices can be very loud. Please know I'm praying for your family. Best wishes ❤️

Listening to his symptoms I would be willing to bet anything that he has Lyme Disease or Co-infections. Not a doctor, but I have been working through some similar symptoms myself over the last handful of years, so I really feel for Kurt. Everyone's body and and health history will be unique, and more than one condition can share the same symptoms in common - so I am by no means diagnosing or treating. But in case my story helps anyone, I was experiencing severe exhaustion and stress over a prolonged period, which eventually led to the manifestation of full-on panic attacks. And the things that probably helped me the most were: PRIORITIZING SLEEP, minimizing stress (as much as humanly possible), taking Magnesium and Vitamin B Complex supplements, avoiding alchohol (this one made a serious difference for me), reducing or even eliminating caffeine, eating whole foods, while also NOT consuming things like refined sugar, gluten, processed junk foods, or alcohol (mentioning alcohol again because I really think it's that important).
In my case, I do also know based on tests I had done that hypothyroidism and low iron are/were involved. But after making some diet and lifestyle changes, my symptoms have been getting much better over time, and the episodes becoming much more mild and less frequent. So just know that it is definitely possible to heal and change the situation! It is what our bodies naturally want to do and are always trying to do - we just have to support that process and provide the things the body needs to do its job (like nutrients, stress management, and restorative sleep, as simplistic as that sounds) and avoid the things that are going to cause inflammation, leaky gut, vitamin/mineral mal-absorption...and stress.
    Sending all my best!

I had something similar, found out my thyroid and cortisol were both low. Also had low iron levels. At my worst I couldn’t get out of bed and my blood pressure was so low I couldn’t stand up sometimes, gut problems, skin problems, had to take sick leave because I couldn’t physically do anything.
After some treatment, I got pregnant, started taking it easy on myself and focusing on not putting so much pressure on myself physically and mentally.
I have been on maternity leave for 3 weeks and have felt soooo much better than when I was trying to juggle work and pregnancy. Looking back, I think I was super super exhausted and chronically stressed due to all of the changes and stress over the past 2 years.
I agree that our generation has an unhealthy obsession with achievement. It’s hard not to though, due to cost of living being so high and needing to constantly change/improve skills.
Also, cancel culture needs to end. The most toxic and irrational expression of people’s own issues onto others.

I’ve typed and retyped this so many times at this point because I want to make sure that what I say is received well. I really hope this comes across okay. So, here it goes:
Kurt, I went through SO much of what you seem to be going through. For me it was three years of severe stomach problems (even though I ate an incredibly clean, gluten/dairy free diet), light-headedness, heart palpitations, exhaustion (literally no energy for ANYTHING), having low bone density (aka, I got cavities all the time even though I was super on top of brushing my teeth, flossing, etc.) lack of focus/mental clarity, forgetting my words, forgetting why I walked into a room, losing my menstrual cycle, having normal testosterone for my age but having the estrogen and progesterone levels of a middle aged man, getting shingles as a 24 year old, the list goes on. I spent about two years trying to figure out the problem. I went to doctors, specialists, my naturopath, etc. I was tested for everything from H. Pylori to Crohn’s and everything came back negative. On the outside, I was a super fit, 20-something with a busy schedule, but nothing too stressful, who ate really well and trained hard. But I felt SO sick. I honestly felt like I was dying. I was exhausted trying to figure out what was wrong with me. After about 2/2.5 years of trying to figure this out, I read an article about Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). I don’t want to go into it too much because I’m obviously not an expert on your scenario and I can only speak to my own experience, but this completely changed my life. I spent the next year researching and working to come up with a plan to heal my body. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. I had to re-educate myself on topics like weight set point. I had to gain weight, work on my mental health, and slow down A LOT. But it worked. I sobbed on my bathroom floor this time last year when I got my period back. I’m 26 now and all of my symptoms have been gone for about 10 months. I can’t imagine surviving the way I was and I’m SO grateful I figured it out and was able to heal. I hope this helps you and maybe points you in the direction of something you might not have thought of yet. Feel better soon!
p.s. some great resources I found were on Dr Gaudiani’s website and also the Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast

I experienced something extremely similar to what it sounds like Kurt is experiencing a few years ago. It started off mild and got worse over the course of 2-3 years - intense heart palpitations, nausea, floaters in my vision, dizziness, fatigue, also anxiety and depression. I spent thousands of dollars on CT scans, abdominal ultrasounds, bloodwork like 5 times, even an endoscopy to see if I might have Celiac disease. It was so upsetting to me when people told me I must just have anxiety or depression because I KNEW something was physically wrong with me (and I was and still am super against taking medication for mental health - to each their own, but it's just not for me). Then I went the natural route, desperate for answers. and saw both a holistic, functional medicine doctor and a doctor of Chinese medicine. I finally started getting slowly better after the doctor of Chinese medicine suggested that I start eating animal foods after having been vegan for about 6 years, and limiting red meat for many years before that. It was so hard, I was dogmatically attached to veganism and so wholeheartedly believed that fruits and vegetables were the healthiest foods in existence. I was also supplementing with B12 (methylcobalamin sublingual and injections), iron, and a slew of other supplements that vegans are "supposed" to take. Now I take zero supplements, eat tons of red meat, very little plant matter, and finally feel like myself again. I truly thought I was dying and I am so sorry that you are going through this Kurt. Sounds like you're on the right track with a low fodmap diet that involves lots of meat and limited veg, I hope it helps you. Please don't let anyone tell you that you just have anxiety if you know something is wrong beyond that, or perhaps even causing the anxiety to some degree as it was in my case. It took a year or two for me to fully get my life back. I am so grateful. Check out the carnivore diet for lots of other people who have healed mysterious chronic illnesses by limiting or completely eliminating plant foods. Best of luck, I hope you get your health back!

Hi guys, you may not see this comment but I just thought it might help to share my health story just as some food for thought because it appears to be very very similar to Kurt's.
I have had pretty severe health anxiety for a few years now, and from that, I can confidently say that the human mind is so powerful that you could literally manifest any physical symptom as a result of anxiety. Over the years I have experienced nausea, bloating, dizziness and feeling like I am going to pass out, heart palpitations/racing heart often seemingly for no reason, tingling/numbness, random pains, very bad headaches, muscle tension and soreness, extreme fatigue, bad memory, trouble breathing, shaking, insomnia, hot and cold flashes, brain fog (!!!), loss of sense of touch at times - it took me a long time to realize and accept that anxiety has caused this. I can not begin to describe the number of times I convinced myself I was going to die because of these symptoms, eg I would have a pain in my right abdomen and be convinced that my appendix had burst even though it was just a sore muscle. Or I would get chest pains and be convinced I was having a heart attack.
Often, even if I was not 'feeling' anxious, I would still feel sick and tired all day. Anxiety does not always manifest itself purely into panic attacks, sometimes it is like a dull ache on the back of your mind that sometimes lasts days or even weeks or longer.
Anxiety has also led to me getting sick more and increased gut issues such as IBS/leaky gut, and chronic fatigue is known to pair up with anxiety as well
If you would like to know more, research other people's experiences with hypochondria as it is actually quite a common form of anxiety. This goes for anyone who may be experiencing this - first and foremost trust your intuition, you know your body more than anyone else, and I am not a doctor or therapist but if you feel like this could be at least minorly you, it is really worth learning a little more about. Going to therapy has helped majorly for me, as has figuring out my triggers - in times of increased stress and workload it definitely gets worse and googling mine or other people's symptoms is bound to be a MAJOR trigger for an anxiety attack, exercise helps heaps even if its the last thing I want to do, I also went to a naturopath for some time to heal my gut issues. I follow @health_anxiety on Instagram too, which has really really helped me.
I really hope you find out a way to feel better, and if it does turn out to be this, I hope this helps you or any other person going through something similar (I'd also like to reiterate that I am in no way a health professional so feel free to correct me on anything or take this advice with a grain of salt, I am only speaking on my experiences)
    All the best xxxxxx

Hi! I don't know if you'll see this but after hearing Kurt say he thinks it could be something with his gut I think you should check it out. I struggled with nausea, vomiting, shivers, heart palpitation, and exhaustion for 6 months. It had really started earlier but I didn't pay much attention to it because it wasn't debilitating to me. I got an endoscopy, blood test, allergy test, parasites everything. Everything came back negative and healthy, but I wasn't okay. I ended up going to a holistic doctor where she discovered I had SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) which is a gut disorder. These types of illnesses are hard to find because there are very specific tests you have to do. For the SIBO test, I had to do a breath test. I am finally getting back on track with a lot of changes to my diet, but guy health is very often the root of so many issues!!

I don't normally comment on videos, but these symptoms sound really similar to what my father had. My dad is an extremely healthy, physically fit man who is careful of everything and works hard and his 'leisure time' is going and playing sports. My dad slowly got exhausted, dizzy, couldn't train anymore, had headaches, chest pain, and soreness, and I suggested anxiety at first (which can contribute) but eventually docs figured out his adrenal glands were swollen and completely depleted. He had to do a health overhaul, rest TRULY REST, and flush out his system medically. It's been about 6 months since he started to do this and he is finally feeling more normal.
Maybe look into this? I had never seen him so exhausted in my life and he was not himself for somewhere close to two years. He hit the wall in August of 2019 and got treatment in November 2019. It's June 2020 and he's happily rowing and training and enjoying life again. I really really really suggest looking into adrenal gland depletion + chronic fatigue in addition to SIBO.
Overhaul of diet helps too ! I'm glad you guys found it. It's important to rest.

I think it might be worth it to try a “mental health overhaul” to see if it helps with some symptoms. Give yourself a week or so off from house business, work, news, etc and focus on nourishing your mind and soul. Get plenty of sleep, gentle exercise like yoga / hiking, do things that fill up your soul, practice meditation and maybe some therapy and see if those help at all. I feel for you so and know how hard it can be to struggle with something unknown

I had bad digestive issues and I would feel dizzy and light-headed. Turns out I'm just depressed.. so I'm on antidepressants now and have seriously never felt better. Hi guys! So sorry to hear you're going through this. I've had SIBO too, it can affect you in so many different ways and the symptoms can seem super unrelated. It's crazy to think how little modern medicine knows about the gut. Feels like everything stems from there! I went on a similar diet regime to Kurt but my SIBO was also spurred on heavily by H. Pylori, a very common gut bacteria. My functional medicine practitioner put me on a 30-day treatment of drinking Matula tea, twice a day. This got rid of the H. Pylori and my SIBO started to get better naturally. The Pylori was causing chronic constipation (which I suffered from for 6 years), causing good bacteria in my stomach to get stuck & grow & nest, which is what SIBO is essentially. Every SIBO is different so definitely listen to your God of a naturopath, but even if it takes a year to fully kick, it's worth taking the steps because absolutely everything in your body will start to function better once you've kicked it. Best of luck & please do let any of us know if we can help in any way - we are part of the Sezzy fam and we love you both lots! x

So these symptoms started happening to me two years ago and I swore I had an illness or chronic disease and every time I would go in for tests they all came back healthy (bloodwork, sonograms, x-rays, thyroid levels) but I felt so ill. It was so defeating to feel like I was dying or sick and be told everything is fine (I feel ya Kurt!) I was just getting so depressed from feeling out of breath, dizzy, nauseous, weak, and shaky and I swore it had to be something. I was finally diagnosed with anxiety disorder which was really weird because I’m not a typical anxious person. I saw a specialist that put me on a lose dose of medication and got my body out of fight or flight mode and somewhat back to normalcy. Anxiety can make your body feel so ill and unfortunately when I do have it those are the effects I get. I encourage you guys to talk to a specialist because it could maybe play a part in this too! Omg I totally sympathise with you Kurt - I experienced the same, feeling horrible all the time for 2 years..I started to notice too that when I ate unhealthy food (that SIBO loves) I felt better, and when I ate healthy I felt utterly horrible. Every doctor says I was fine, all the tests came back fine, they said there is nothing wrong. I felt sick almost every day so I knew it wasn't fine...I just had to get mentally tougher because I couldn't stay off work because I was "fine".
Doctors really should test for this sooner. I am not even sure mine is totally cured, as they weren't so specific on the diet, but I can assure you it gets better after treatment too. Sending you all the strength and good health

I have had the same thing happen to me as Kurt is struggling with. I’ve been struggling for a little over 2 years as well. I went through a phase where I could barely get out of bed and walk to the kitchen most days. I too went to multiple Drs. and specialists and all of my blood tests, stress tests, and everything came back normal. Tachycardia and palpitations, fatigue and severe loss of appetite were my biggest issues and I was diagnosed with Raynaud’s phenomena. My cardiologist told me that if I continue to try and exercise that It could possibly improve my tachycardia. I am currently able to maintain my symptoms to where I have more good days than bad, but I cannot go more than three days without working out, without having a relapse. I have always been very active my whole life and I am very conscious of nutrition but none of that seemed to help me. I have had to decrease my cardio and focus more on weight training or my body does not tolerate it well. It’s a terrible feeling to know that something is wrong with you but all of the specialists’ continue to tell you that it is nothing or that it’s just anxiety.

Sarah said doctors have said it could be anxiety and although they didn't believe it could be they reluctantly agreed to put Kurt on an anti-anxiety program which involved surfing everyday and not being allowed to do housework or look after Fox. Apparently it didn't work so they are both even more dismissive of an anxiety diagnosis. But the fact so, so many people are still suggesting it tells me there's something to it. Possibly anxiety/depression along with chronic fatigue. I hope they look back into it.

Mental health issues can be shown in so many different ways for different people. Kurt could be having some issues with anxiety for example, just that it does not work out for him to not being able to take care of fox and housework like dishes and laundry. If not, being sick from something (like SIBO) could cause some anxiety or stress itself.

Congratulations on your diagnosis! It is HUGE to have name for your problem and therefore something to work to heal. Not knowing what is wrong with you is a terrible experience, and I'm sorry it went on for so long for Kurt. I also want to point out something about all the comments on this video. People are divided saying it's either a gut problem or a mental problem, and it's so important to remember that these things are directly connected (aptly referred to as the "brain-gut connection"). One thing will absolutely create or aggravate the other. In my case, the stress and anxiety of having a baby led to ulcerative colitis (which not so coincidentally manifested when my son was Fox's age). This particular age that you and Kurt are at is particularly stressful. It's when life is really getting going (marriage, babies, careers taking off). It's no surprise that more and more younger people are getting sick with the illnesses in the gut.
I could go on for days about this, but I just want to say I'm really happy that you shared your story. These diseases are relatively new to our social consciousness, and it's important that people know about them and recognize possible symptoms, because, as you've seen, the longer they go undiagnosed/untreated, the longer and harder it is to recover. Wishing your family the best as Kurt recovers. Take care and be well!

Only saw a neurologist this year and they diagnosed me with vestibular migraines and told me to try bioceuticals migrainecare. I haven't had a single symptom or felt dizzy since starting it in March. Its all natural and I take it twice a day, at night and in the morning.

After watching this I highly recommend the book “To Hell With the Hustle” by Jefferson Bethke to an viewers as well as Sarah & Kurt. It matches the whole vibe of balancing ambition with other important parts of life like family, friends, faith, etc! Helped me a lot, so I thought I would put it out there :)

My chronic illness is quite different possibly I was sick from the time I got pregnant with my now 6y.o. And could not get a diagnosis throwing up all through my pregnancy I was so tiny when I gave birth she was tiny as well. Long story short someone I knew one day 4 1/2 years later said you have gastro paresis, the symptoms were uncanny but I wasn’t a diabetic, I had so many revelations after this, like dairy 🥛 obliterated me, whole vegetables uncooked and Not chopped destroyed my gut. I started my fitness journey and found your channel, I learned so much online about gut health and how dairy and gut health could cause acne, fatigue, vomiting would occur over time as my stomach could not break down foods properly and eventually it builds up and my body has to get rid of it. I started taking Pearl probiotics and fiber which saved my sanity. Best of luck to Kurt I hope you find what helps you and that you can have the chance to function like you need to! For your young family I don’t wish what I went through on anyone! There were so many events holidays and apts. I would wake up sick and miss, my kids in the other rooms of the house while I’m vomiting in mine for days. It also takes days to fully recover afterwards. But the miracle is after taking my gut medication for months Now when I do get sick Some times I can keep myself from vomiting and only have a sick to recovery time of 2-3 days where as it used to be weeks at a time! Xoxo 😘 I hope this helps and you’re not alone!

This reminds me so much of my anxiety. It absolutely manifests into physical symptoms and it can be unbearable. I know you may not want to try anti anxiety or anti depressants but it just made me feel even and 100% my normal self. Good luck ❤️

As someone who struggles with health issues, this vlog is SO important. Thank you for showing that life isn’t always perfect and that’s its okay to be sad and frustrated. I am so grateful that Kurt has been diagnosed, although it’s an awful condition to have at least you no longer have to search for answers. I will be praying for your family especially during this time, Sarah you are an incredible partner and person. You are so kind, intellectual, loving, compassionate, hardworking, and devoted. This video meant so much to me. Thank you for being so candid with your viewers, I believe that is so important and you are helping more people than you could ever know. I pray that Kurt begins feeling better with his new diet.

I am by NO MEANS a doctor or expert but when Kurt described his symptoms I immediately thought it could be anxiety/stress/mental health related.
I have had similar symptoms: extreme exhaustion, heart palpitations, tight chest, stomach problems, and intense dizziness (to the point I was on medication for vertigo). For years I was CONVINCED it was just vertigo or some mysterious disease or illness.
I realized later on that my symptoms are most likely caused by stress and anxiety. Its amazing how the mind can affect the body - I'd look into that as a serious potential. At the time I didn't think I had enough to be stressed or anxious about but looking back I had taken on a lot and I was in a bad place. My mind and body revolted.
Hope you get more answers soon!!

People can also have anxiety because they’re simply not feeling well. Before I went GF doctors thought I had issues with anxiety but it was because I needed to change my diet. Everyone feels anxious don’t get me wrong. But it can also be a symptom of what you’re going through. I hope he feels better soon.

I have the same Ayla. Im 33 and have severe panic attacks when I get vertigo. I recently went to a vestibular physical therapist and it changed my life. I was taught maneuvers to fix the vertigo and I haven’t felt this great and like myself again since 5 years ago. Ask your doc about seeing a specialist that deals with BPPV vertigo. Check out the Epley Maneuver on UA-cam videos.

Just reading your comments made me feel less alone! I have the same. BPPV and some permanent damage to my left balance mechanism. My baby is 15 months and this has been going on for 17months. It definitely makes you feel down and exhausted!
I also feel sick from it. I’m 35 and was a massive gym bunny before all of this. It’s horrific and only other people with vertigo can really relate how awful it is. Residual dizziness too! Which I’ll suffer from for a week or two if I (or docs) attempt a manoeuvre :( I used to be the most positive person In the world and still try to be!! It’s so unfair for anyone who suffers from this. Good luck to us all ❤️🙏🏼

So I have SIBO as well and found out a couple years ago at a naturopathic doctor. I went on the restricted diet for almost 3 months and unfortunately it did not help me. I was also supplementing and spent all kinds of money to push out the bacteria, but I know exactly how Kurt feels. I lost sooo much weight and I looked so sick. I couldn’t even manage every day functions because I was so tired. I had to quit my job even and my husband had to work more hours. The diet is so unrealistic and honestly I barely survived living on that. Months later I eventually went to a gastroenterologist and did more breath tests. They found loads of methane in my breath and also wanted to see if I had celiac disease because my skin started even changing. I broke out in rashes and hives all over my body. I literally felt like a vegetable and like I was dying. But then I got pregnant with my husband and I couldn’t do further testing. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I just wanted to share my story. I’m not trying to be negative and say the diet won’t work for you but the most important thing is to completely get rid of the bacteria. Otherwise it will continually grow back. So my next option that I was going for was the antibiotic that the gastroenterologist gives.

I think Kurt may be having some anxiety/DP/DR symptoms. I've been living with derealization for seven years, and it makes you feel like you're spinning, not alive and present and so tired. It stemmed from extreme anxiety; I was having panic attacks which made my brain "shut down" in order to protect itself. It sucks out all the life in you and it's a literal nightmare.
I really think Kurt should see a mental health specialist and also practice some CBT

    • @emmaswirkowski
      @emmaswirkowski 4 роки тому +2

I was also going to say this! My depersonalisation made me feel so ill and like I was out of touch with reality, once I knew what it was and taught my brain to try and move past it, the symptoms went away. It's hard when you don't know what's wrong to try and get yourself worked up about not feeling 'normal'. So sorry to hear you've both been going through a rough time. X x x

Last year, I suffered from constant migraines and dizziness! I couldn’t walk straight. I was living in a nightmare. My vision changed as well. The year before I had heart palpitations. Recently I’ve been having heartburn. Every test I’ve done is normal (brain CT, blood tests, EKG, ultrasounds). I never stopped to figure it out. This is depression/ general anxiety which I’ve realized from therapy. I know it’s annoying to hear, but I’m slowly realizing this is the problem and working slowly and surely toward mental wellness. I assure you, diet and fitness is only one component of it. If you’re searching for the test numbers to confirm a diagnosis, it’ll drive you crazy going from one thing to next, believe me it happened to me. Work on mental health as a priority, disconnect from UA-cam, focus on family, distressing, mediation, whatever floats your boat. Also, medication helped me get to a workable level. Just a few tips but to each their own 😁 I’m sorry Kurt is going through this awful time.

In my personal experience, I’ve went through very very similar symptoms for years if not more. Every other doctor thought it was just anxiety or depression when I knew for a fact it wasn’t the sole reason, however it could’ve been an occasional symptom from ALL of the other symptoms, ha funny that. Anyways, I had an imbalance of good and bad gut bacteria, H pylori (tested & treated, which helped along the way), my naturopath had mentioned a possibility of Lyme, or SIBO, and so on from taking too many antibiotics over the years or eating lots of carbs/sugary food, stress etc. but I never tested SIBO or any of that, he could see from my tongue colour that it was likely, we began treating my root cause/symptoms straight away. I also did a hair test showing that all my minerals were at an all time low. I was so happy but also defeated that it could be so many bad things, because I was scared that it couldn’t be treatable but it finally gave me a chance to. I had to go on that strict diet that Kurt is now on, it’s pretty tough but it helps that your diet is most likely already good because of your healthy lifestyle. I had to start taking teaspoons of garlic (diced) daily to help kill the bad bugs, ACV mixed with water, herbal remedies, supplements to support my immune health and I started feeling soooo much better over time. I also then incorporated going to the chiropractor (I chose the gonstead method personally) which was recommended by my n.d. which then was also wow! Really helped too. Life is pretty much good again, majority of those symptoms are just gone, if anything it’s not to the point where any of it really affects my life anymore. I just keep up my healthy lifestyle, supplements, I still take herbs for the health benefits, but it’s just a part of my routine. I know one day I won’t be anymore but for now I’m happy with it. I never ever thought my health could do a 360° so just trust that there’s hope Kurt!!! Wishing you the best health and believe you will get through it! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
(P.s. like I said this is just my personal experience, I don’t want anyone trying anything without proper research or consulting a doctor) :)
