Just finished my first Log store build using this method and I have to say i'm super pleased with the result. Pretty straight forward to build and the results are great. The best part for me was that it was fun to build - Good Job Craig!
Just finished this project quite straightforward to follow.apart from the Side angles for the roof. Which I didn’t understand how you work it out. Had to get the angle from another UA-cam video. Apart from that good project. Came out well.
Very good video Craig , start to finish info on the roof subframe would have been more helpful , ie : is the subframe square or constructed at the same angle as the roof sides ? This hasn’t been explained , I know what you were doing but remember you are talking to people that have never attempted it , any minor details missing could stop some one trying ?
Brilliant video, I'm an average diyer, it took me the weekend to do it but it looks great, I came back to the vid a few times to check things, measured twice cut once and all that. Some stuff was a bit of a challenge like the angles for the roof but i worked it out myself and I'm well chuffed. Where would I get the liquid from that you painted it with at the end please?
Thank you! This video is so clear co pared to others I have watched AND it's edited for speed to get to the nitty gritty of what tool to use and where to use it.
Craig i followed the instructions but when i cut my timber i followed the instruction and did what you did and held my timber like you did 1:21 but i slipped and cut my hand off because you didn't use the clamps provided so now a can only hug my children with my replacement hook hand... i hope you are happy, i get called captain hook when i pick my children up from school... this comment is a troll but for some individuals its a reality. Be safe people. use the clamps provided if you don't want to cut your hands or fingers off.
Can you explain your roof frame a little better? You just popped it on there and we didn't get to see you take any of the measurements. How would I tackle this part?
Any chance you can give me the exact materials use and lengths I need to order to make sure I have enough. Going to be my first build so want to make sure I order enough materials
Is there a specific drill bit you should use to drill the pilot hole? At the moment I just use brad point drill bits. I'll be attempting to build this, this summer (just had a log burning stove fitted)....as I don't have a great deal of tools there will be a LOT of sawing!!
Good video - bit confused by your dimensions though - 900mm high, 600mm wide and 24mm depth - it is far wider than 600mm and assume you meant 240mm depth - but it looks far deeper than that
Might be a wise idea to mention that you need to let the wood season and dry first before using it, if not done already. 2-3-4 years is ideal, depending on what firewood you'll be using (hardwood, softwood,....) and how thick the logs are (splitting it will help them dry faster and more evenly). Otherwise, nice idea, one that I'll be using! I have some good chunks of left over pallet wood that is laying around. Gonna make one, but a taller one, for my 84 year old mum, bless her soul. That way I can stack her firewood nicely next to her front door (that is protected from the overhanging roof of her house) and she doesn't have to walk outside thru snow, rain and storms and drag logs of wood all across the backyard. ;) Cheers!
Some continuity problems and lack of precise explanations The side panel he starts with is different to the one he ends up with ! If you are are DIY newbie, a bit difficult to follow....
When using a compound miter saw hold your piece of wood down with the provided clamp, don't use your hand like Craig Phillips unless you want to have no fingers afterwards. 1:21 Safety first kids
If the pitch was down toward the closed backside of the rack, you wouldn't get to see the roof slats from the front. Just wouldn't look as nice up against the house. So I guess its a matter of what's more important to the builder: looks or function. Me? I favor function and probably a majority of the guys do. But we've got wives too, haha.
design for the side panels changes half way through the build - or did i miss something? - look at far end of side at ua-cam.com/video/JqoGX-z7Ehs/v-deo.html ... then when he stands it up.... ?
Since I read “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), I do think nothing will ever surpass it as a great woodworking book. The text is easy to read and the pictures and drawings outstanding. I look at this book a "must have" because it gives a wide range of information on just about everything coping with wood working and does it very well.
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Hyezmar is giving his collection of woodworking plans on his website. There’s an excellent alternative for this project!
Because some people have no idea on how to assemble basics, thats why youtube is rammed with how to videos. Everyone is different, even down to their skill level, whilst someone may not be able to assemble a wood store, they may be genius at brain surgery.

Think I'll base my design on this. But with maybe a 6" overhang on the front so the water isn't likely to drip down on to the logs underneath
Are there plans for this somewhere? Like a cutlist?
Excellent Bro, am living in Napier NZ and will make a smaller version for my decking fire pit... easy as... cheers
Awesome, send us some pics! we'd love to see how you get on!
@@SilverlineToolsTV Have taken two pics how do I get them to you? Cheers Lawrence
Really easy video to watch. Sod the sawing though it's a mitre saw for me!!!
Thanks, let us know how you get on!

What angle did you determine the roof should be?
And might be a good idea to inform on how to make sure the angle on both side panels is equal. Looks like it's done by eye

Great vid. Thanks. Accents are always nice too.
Brilliant vid… Craig lad,
Nice design, thanks. The layout of the floor means you aren't having to screw into end-grain, which is what I was about to do with a different design!

Are there any plans 4 this one?

Excellent vid, roll on the weekend 👍
He’s great and really creative is Neil Buchanan!
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad this young man is now doing something useful with his life
Hi, would you mind letting me know what size diameter the screws that I should use? The video is great!
Doesn't mention the dimensions of some of the timber used, only that of the side panel frame.
Useful video. Lots of negative comments below. What's not to like. If you can't build it from Craig's description, you maybe need to go and buy one.
Just completed my first log store based on this video (different size) but very helpful. Thanks!
Can you explain your roof frame a little better? You just popped it on there and we didn't get to see you take any of the measurements. How would I tackle this part?
I suppose it depends on the size of your log store
Hello Craig. Good video. What is the wood preserving did you use. Thanks Steve 👍
çok güzel bir anlatımla iyi ornek bir ahşap çalışması olmuş çok teşekkürler öğretici Gideon için.
Any chance you can give me the exact materials use and lengths I need to order to make sure I have enough. Going to be my first build so want to make sure I order enough materials
Would rain get in through the gaps and fall on logs?
Sure would do mate, plus no over hang on roof means useless logstore😉

You screw the slats in flush to the ends of the sides at the start, but when you asemble there's a gap?
Do you have bild a loft bed ?
is it best to use treated or natural timber? thanks

What size is the log store please

is that saw blunt?
This is the easiest ever!
Anyone else think he should use the 18v for the holes and the 10.8/12v for the screws
No
Could live in that ..
Some continuity problems and lack of precise explanations
The side panel he starts with is different to the one he ends up with !
If you are are DIY newbie, a bit difficult to follow....
Super !!!
Confused on the bit when he saws the side then add another piece on top :(
Same here ?????

I thought that. What a numpty.
Like this design. Was disappointed to learn one can’t easily find the feather-edge boards in the US :-(
Wonder how many tools he went through making that. Silver line are like toffee
How come you made the roof tilt toward the front. The snow will come off and pile up in front of the the wood then you digging out.
If the pitch was down toward the closed backside of the rack, you wouldn't get to see the roof slats from the front. Just wouldn't look as nice up against the house. Don't get that much snow in UK!
so, 24mm in depth? Is this a match box?
he ment inchs

And then you lay some “unsplitted wood” in it ?
Looks okay but he put the roof frame on upside down lol..........
Sod the hand saw, use the circular! 😂
Will definitely save you some time
How can wood dry when exposed to rain (especially, wind blown) here in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State, U.S.A.?
Get video thank you
If your 3ft tall (tiny person) it's an ideal logstore, obviously needs more over hang on the roof as water will just drip and soak all the logs
I do receive for groceries from Humana sorry
Great video but would be easier if measurements were metric for those of us not still in the 1960s!
"top secret idea and perfect line included in thi guide"? Haven't they taught bots to speak English yet?
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Hyezmar is giving his collection of woodworking plans on his website. There’s an excellent alternative for this project!
He's not even a tradesperson
OMFG.. how of a big deal is to make what this guy just did in the video? :))) Is just a box with a side panel removed.. :)))
Because some people have no idea on how to assemble basics, thats why youtube is rammed with how to videos. Everyone is different, even down to their skill level, whilst someone may not be able to assemble a wood store, they may be genius at brain surgery.
You may go to woodprix website if you'd like to make it yourself guys.
I check a lot of woodworking handbooks. These one from woodprix are the best.
Im using woodprix instructions to make it and I do it already :)
Useless video with no cut list or plans available
I have spent months researching into building sheds and discovered an awesome resource at Wilfs Shed Formula (google it if you're interested)
