Stage 4 colon cancer is not the same as 2a cervical cancer and can easily be cured

@@juliadevlin7815 yes I know that they are completely different, but the experience of having cancer, chemotherapy for 6 months was a hard journey for myself and my family, I stayed positve throughout and I found this helped alot. I am sure Mandy and John will stay positive as this horrible illness can be beaten back and they can have a happy and fun filled life together.

Hey guys x I was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer in November 2023. So I know the shock that you are going through. I think it’s great that you are sharing your journey on here, awareness is key! I am doing radiotherapy and chemo and plan on exceeding the prognosis the Drs have given me! Sending you positive thoughts, and healing energy. You got this!!! ❤

You can do it…your strong, your together facing it,helping each other.
Make sure you write everything down you want to ask….
Treatment, timings, waiting for results is draining but just deal with things one thing at a time….

Mandy & John, firstly sorry to hear you are having to go through this. I have just been given all clear after 10 years. I was stage 3&4 cervical cancer. I had a fantastic consultant at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. I opted for surgery (radical hysterectomy) as if it came back as I understand once you had radiation you can’t have it again. I had extra parts removed as well as repair to bladder and bowel. Looking back I don’t regret my choice. I had a daughter that I wanted to see grow up and she is nearly 28 now. Going through a forced menopause was no biggie in comparison to what could have been. Don’t be talked down to by doctors, just remind them you are the patient and you have the final say…they have nothing without your consent. I wish you well, listen to your body, rest when it needs rest and sleep when it is tired. Much love from me and my family in Lincs

When I had my radical hysterectomy I found getting in and out a van a lot easier than a car as your not bending so much and can just slide out ❤, you will get tired and need rest time I do think I would have been better in our motorhome than in home ,no steps and much nicer to be able to just ride out and see something different if you feel up to it ❤❤❤

Hi hope all goes well for you Mandy and just for information I've been through leukemia myself and had loads of chemotherapy I don't know if it's the same for you but I was advised not to be near lots of people and advised not to go into supermarkets and that due to chemotherapy giving you low amune system. Also I've not heard ov don't sleep with someone in same bed as I did anyway years later no worries and also stairs can be a problem depending on how tired you are after treatment ( I don't do stairs now) hopefully this helps you and not worried you

Guys, huge hugs to you both... my only comment is to suggest you make a written list of questions to take into doctor's appointment but don't ask your questions until the doctor has told you what they are going to - then, when they are finished, ask what hasn't been answered. If you ask your questions first before they tell you what they plan to they may just answer your questions and not tell you other things they were going to tell you that you might not have thought of. Again, love and hugs, G xx

I would suggest from a comfort perspective and seeing my mum go through a similar cancer, Mandy, you will probably want your own space, bedroom to rest/sleep. I personally think it would be tough to stay in the vans. Even if you just do that at the start and see how you get on, then adjust as you see fit. Xx

Your on a conveyor belt to them. I find it on the whole an impersonal experience these appointments .
I have a catch up once a month with the head consultant who is by far a more personal experience. 20 years ago went through the same thing doesn’t seemed to have changed a great deal. You have done the right thing by openly talking about your personal journey with cancer well done to both of you. Xx

You two are both amazing. I just can't imagine what your emotions must be like going through all this. John. Just keep doing what you are doing to support Mandy as her health will alter going through her treatment. I think the reason Dr's seem so flippant is because they see hundreds of patients and it becomes like a production line. I'm sending you both such a big hug. And hope you can both stay positive. But there will be days when it feels so hard to do. Lots of love. Sue ❤❤❤

Hi John and Mandy 👋🏻 Firstly happy wedding anniversary, I’m so glad you had a lovely meal to mark the occasion 💞
I don’t often comment on YT but as soon as I heard about Mandy’s diagnosis, I like many others, booked my smear as I was a few months overdue because we’d relocated and therefore I’d changed Doctors. So thank you for highlighting how important it is. We will be following you as you navigate dodging this curveball life’s thrown at you.
Both myself and my husband are behind you all the way, we think you’re handling it really well and are exactly in the right frame of mind to enjoy ‘normality’ until you have to get off at the station and wait for the next train. Sending positive thoughts, prayers, hugs and love ❣️Liz & Gray xx

Firstly, I am really glad you both enjoyed your wedding anniversary and got to celebrate your special day. This may sound weird but I’m so happy that the diagnoses is 2a & that you don’t have to have radical surgery. John don’t feel at a loss at not being able to fix this, just being by Mandy’s side taking care of her will be the most important help that you can give.
On a practical note, maybe it would be worth enquiring about a short-term apartment, house let or static home, speaking from experience with my Mom and cousin both having had breast cancer (thankfully now all clear), they were both quite poorly & very tired after treatment and just wanted to get home and straight into bed because it took quite a bit out of them.
Sending you love 💕 & positive thoughts from Caroline - part of your online family 😊

I am having a laugh at the hospital parking part of the video. It was mayhem at our local hospital the other day with people having no idea of how to park and pay. There was a cue of 20 cars trying to get out while a person left their car at the barrier and went off to the pay station to pay. It was carnage.
I have been looking after my wife, following heart surgery and she has been getting very frustrated that she cannot do what she normally does. She has a 12 month recovery ahead of her, but it is tiny steps at a time.

And recently got informed it has returned, I have had my PET SCAN and MRI and today have been in theatre for my biopsy so currently feel like someone has kicked me so had up my backside but it is wearing off.
Positive thoughts work wonders and you seem to have that in abundance,my advise for what it's worth is, your journey is a marathon not a race you will become tried so don't burn yourself out at the start doing unnecessary things that in the overall picture will wait.

Hi both thanks for sharing your progress. If it’s any consolation family members who are going through cancer treatment experienced the same attitude at there appointments and were left feeling the same way as you did. A lack of awareness to the patient trying to adjust to their diagnosis for the first time. Also a lack of answers meaning a lot of waiting which can have its toll on mental health.
I hope you find plenty of nice things to do to help pass the time. Big 🫂stay strong one thing you have bundles of is each others support and love. ❤

I know this may sound weird, but when you start chemo and radio therapy, you kind of get into a strange routine, in my wife’s case 5 days on 2 days off for 5 weeks. It was incredibly hard. But, John, I am sure you will be a rock and make sure Mandy is as comfortable as is possible. We ended up staying in a little flat on the grounds of the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, directly across from the Maggies Centre (they are wonderful). It was at the back end of Covid so we isolated as much as we could as we didn’t want any bugs interfering with the treatment. Our crazy regime included a streamed episode of Death in Paradise each night. Crazily the flat only had one picture on the wall which was a cutting from the Guardian of a Great Dane dog in a sidecar. We now have a motorbike and sidecar (a Ural). There’s no nice way of putting it, it will be hard, physically and mentally, but we met so many amazing people on our journey. Mandy I’ll be thinking of you ringing the bell when your treatment is finished.

Sorry you got brushed off by the consultant and didn’t receive the information and empathy you deserve folks. Sadly this is fairly typical through the NHS, especially at the moment when the whole system is creaking at the seams. As a nutritionist myself could I suggest you support yourself with a high protein, fruit and veg diet with plenty of water. I know it’s boring but chemo is hard on the body and a good diet and adequate hydration will help you very significantly. If you’d like a free consultation please feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to offer you a zoom call to help you out or I can recommend a good professional nutritionist who has experience with cancer patients.
In better news, stage 2a is relatively good news and quite an early diagnosis so that’s a positive. Thinking of you both 🙏❤

God bless you both. I’ve heard cutting out refined sugar is so helpful to stopping any cancer growth. Eat clean! Feed your body with the best things you can, full of veg. Sugar can feed cancer growth. And importantly surround yourself with love and family and friends. Prayers for you ❤❤❤

About 18 months ago i was diagnosed with cancer in a number of parts of my body, they wanted me to have Chemo Therapy but i refused so they suggested Immunotherapy, Treatment is similar to Chemo but with Chemo it attacks Cancer but reduces you immunity to anything about leaving you vulnerable . Immunotherapy Turbo charges your Immune system to fight off any infection or disease. There is side effects if you have strong double treatment but i have been on treatment for over a year and am almost clear of cancer and back to normal, have seen some patients have Chemo then switch to Immuno after so you should look into it. ps one side effect i had was all my hair including eye lashers turned white. It can also effect your Thyroid Gland, wish you well.
