Another funny counter I've found for this strategy: give literally any Sturdy Pokemon a Red Card. Red Card can screw over a surprisingly large number of strategies (hence why I run it on my Shuckle, typically forcing my opponent to play very awkwardly in the beginning of the match while the Shuckle sets up.)
Yeah, red card is amazing. Basically deletes setup sweepers as a concern. Unless you run into a weirdo using something with Suction cups to sweep I guess...
That only works if the setup mon isn’t a suicide lead, such as Screens/Memento mons like Uxie or Latios (which Temp uses quite a bit). Then Red Card never activates cause there’s only one Pokémon left on the team.
Lesson learned: You may technically only need one or two pokemon to win, but bringing a full team of 6 can only help make you more resilient if someone counters your main game plan.
I was going to use a double dancer Lucario set, but it didn't turned out so well when my opponent cleared 4/6 of my mons. And guess what? The Stealth Rock, 2 layers of Spikes and a Toxic Spikes I have set up from earlier, combined with my Skarmony's Whirlwind managed to stall, force outs opponent's mons and chips their health until the player was forfeited. (My strategy become from hyper offensive resorted to stall.) Never felt so good as a newbie whom is still new in Showdown.

Likely because malamar is used as a sweeper itself or to buff your team so you don't really expect topsy-turvy to be in its moveset as haze is usually used instead
Marshadow works better I guess. I don't think there are a lot of situations where Topsy-Turvy works better than spectral thief. Except if the target mon is normal type, but there aren't many great normal mons either.

i forgot all about topsy turvy, imagine if this happened to a super salty legendary spammer that then calls you lucky for winning and then proceeds to lose 2-3 more times in rematches
It occurs to me, 2+ months later, that something like Taunt would've shut the clefable down turn one. He was allowed to get his "Ultimate" Rayquaza just so he could be shown how very little it was worth.

I had to look up topsy-turvy and I found out that it is a guaranteed hit to invert stats. Regardless of evasion stats Pretty much a sweep strategy is useless if the pokémon team is prepped.
Technically he might have still win if he just switch back to his clefable and see if he can be those buffs on his rayquaza again. Malamar can't survive another attack so tempt would need to pray that without the weakness policy is enough for him to survive Rayquaza attacks. Instead, he gave up without even trying to make a comeback.
A few days there was this who was incredibly cocky and kept trashtalking (bc my team was mono bug ,i reverse sweeped him with volcarona tho Very satisfying.
I've seen temp do a lot of sweeper setups similar to this but never using minimize to boost evasion too. That was a nice touch I have to admit. It helped the support pokemon stay alive then really boosted the sweeper. I didnt even know volt switch fails to swap pokemon if it missed.

Sash Topsy-Turvy has to be one of the most galaxy brain anti-sweep strats I have ever seen. How come I've never even heard of it before?
Sweepers usually have stealth rock or spikes to fuck with sash. It's not completely infallable.
