Baloney. Me and my son are both autistic. His is more severe than mine. But they TOOK AWAY his SSI disability a couple years ago and have refused to allow him to have it reinstated. They will not let me help him get it fixed because he's an "adult". They won't even speak to me on the phone. They took away his SSI, his Food Stamps and his Govt phone. So I've been supporting him and feeding him on MY SSI and food stamps. I could not afford all that and ended up not being able to pay my mortgage. NOW my house is up for Sheriff's sale in mere weeks, we are both about to be HOMELESS and no one even cares or will help. I've asked and begged and asked and begged every agency I could find. All of them just give me another number to try. Nothing... no help from anyone. It's a horrible nightmare. Horrible. Our lives have been ripped apart and destroyed because SSI MADE A MISTAKE and won't let me fix it for my son. Now I'm losing my house. We're both losing everything.

Note: on July 11th, Governor Shapiro and the general assembly announced a final state budget deal, which included a REDUCTION in the amount of the ID/A funding compared to the budget proposed in february. Families and service providers are waiting to hear from the PA office of Developmental programs how it will absorb this reduction - e.g, will higher reimbursements that providers desperately need be Cut or will Fewer people languishing on waiting lists be served? We're waiting to learn.
