1st AIR RAID SIGNAL of HIGH-POWER-SIREN after many years 👍

  • This pneumatic high-power-siren (called Pintsch-Bamag (short PiBa) built in the 60ies) awakes after many years. It was repaired by some very professional expertise guys. This siren has a malfunction last year (Oct 2016). But now this historical siren is back with a strong exceedingly voice. It is only a trial operation, but with a big and very rare premiere: the test-signal here in the video is "warning" which wasn´t triggered over many years.
    The typical sound of this PiBa-siren is similar like sawtooth-sound, you can hear the difference to a pneumatical siren typ HLS273.
    Important for the future it is neccessary to warn the population in case of possible danger e.g.: natural desasters, chemical accidents, fires of great extent, etc. . Let´s hope this very loud pneumatic high-power-siren will do a good job for many years, but only in peaceful times of course.

    I love these! The technology is amazing that the noise is those very tiny disks on top that high pressure air is forced through. its a shame that they aren't as dependable as they once were and are being phased out completely. I got a notification in my email that you uploaded figuring it was going to be an HLS 273 or something but MAN am i happy that it was this Pintsch Bamag that failed on you last year!

      It is basically a Chrysler, a Model 120, and Thunderbolt combined lmao. Basically it has an air compressor under ground which is either powered by a gas engine or an electric motor which pressurized a large air tank. Whenever the siren receives activation tones, it causes a valve to open and release air into a pipe which goes all the way up to the top where a small 24 volt DC motor spins a 4 port disk chopper similar to the one in a Chrysler to chop the air and create the sound. The sound goes into a diffuser after going past the chopper and out the 4 horns. There is also a time delay relay that shuts the valve off after a certain amount of time after the chopper started spooling down. Search up a restoration video on an HLS-273. That is a different siren but it works the same exact way, in fact these sirens are literally HLS-273s in a tower

    How does a pneumatic siren work

    • @jubberdunkus1496
      @jubberdunkus1496 3 роки тому

      This one in particular is a bunch of tiny, packed in disks that a shit load of pressurized air gets shot through. They all vibrate and make that sound. Kinda like how a human makes elephant noise

    • @dangerousnoodle3730
      @dangerousnoodle3730 3 роки тому

      @@jubberdunkus1496 so it's it kinda works like a klaxon horn but in stead of a motor it's pneumatic

    • @SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL
      @SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL 2 роки тому +1

      @@jubberdunkus1496 actually no. It works just like the Model 120 siren. It has compressed air tanks that shoot air into a 4 port chopper, which has no vanes making it rely only on the air pressure to create the noise. It would spin and chop the air from the tanks, and the 4 tubes on the stator holes guide the sound into the 4 large horns. If it DID use a vibrating disk, then it would basically be an air horn as air horns use a diaphragm or a metal disk to create the noise

    • @TRKaliFoxxo
      @TRKaliFoxxo Рік тому

      @@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL You're pretty spot on! Except the Model 120 used a blower to provide the air unlike this siren that got its compressed air from the tank (which is the whole tower!).

    This wail signal is too fast isn't it?

    • @Glockengiesser_Nbg
      @Glockengiesser_Nbg 6 років тому +1

      Tzadik #1 - No, it's the original 1960 wail speed with 15 wail sequences per minute! Newer sirens sometimes have a slower wail speed with only 13 sequences per minute.

    • @giborisrael4229
      @giborisrael4229 6 років тому

      Well I remember that in the F71 sirens the wail was slower, In Israel we have a lot of them in really good condition and maybe even in operation condition! The last run of the few pneumatic sirens in Israel that still were in use was back in 2012 and now they replaced by the hörmann ECN 3000 and with some ATI hpss32 sirens, Those new sirens are low and bad sounding! The ATI works with some Taiwan made drivers and Shamrad control panel and so the hörmann is a little bit better than the ATI but still I prefer the old electromechanical and pneumatics, By the way some of the sirens that installed in the late 1940s in all the Kibutzs and the villages in Israel was made by IDF together with Motorola!

    • @giborisrael4229
      @giborisrael4229 6 років тому

      For example, If you turn the speed to 0.5 you will hear the exact wail speed of the F71
