A name for the district: Freeplaats was originally called such by sailors and captains, particularly those hailing from Holland, because of its very low berthing rates. A popular place to keep your ship during hurricane season, the area quickly got a repuation as a lawless area. Freeplaats was used as a port for ships running the blockade during the Civil War. Freeplaats was incorporated into Crescent just after the war, but the area only stabilized after the railroad and industry came, and the ships moved to ports further downstream. With the golden age of downtown industry apparently over, this reputation is set to return. City Council is rumoured to preempt this development by revitalizing Freeplaats and perhaps the entire river coast.
As someone who lives in the southeastern United States you are really starting to capture that southeast feel. The poorer inner city areas look so much like what I've seen and grew up in in Little Rock.
Well now you have learned a lesson which you can willingly ignore for the rest of your life, thus requiring a philosophical decision of yours. Not bad i'd say.
I want to just throw in a suggestion for a future project. A city like Berlin shortly after the wall fell, so you can clearly see that both parts developed very differently.
That name out of nowhere gave me a heart attack. But I love the story, and I really love those rowhouses! Thanks, man. I just have to wonder what the company did that it needed all those workers- but that's for later on.
I could see a strip mall going in near the interstate. Could include Kroger, Planet Fitness, Gamestop, and Bed Bath and Beyond, to name a few. Also, an neighborhood bar would be nice in the eastern neighborhood, along with a railroad classification yard, located possibly west of the city.
Definitly, got plans for stripmalls, some from the early wave of suburban shopping and some more modern ones as we get further away from the core and the building style switch to post 1990's and McMansion stuff
@Infrastructurist, Wonder if your going to do any historic upscale neighborhoods with older early/mid-twentieth century mansions mixed in with upper class suburbs? North Carolina has a lot of stuff like that in Durham, and especially Raleigh. Also a run down antebellum district would be cool, but that's more of a Louisiana, gulf coast thing.
I think it'd be cool to showcase a common issue I see in Jacksonville, where older (especially Black) neighborhoods were founded on streetcar routes, and when those were removed, the streets were widened for cars, removing streetside parking and forcing churches and larger stores to buy the buildings next to them and demolish them to build parking lots. In some cases, the streets were widened enough that the sidewalk near good building stock is too thin now for wheelchairs, and can't be widened, rendering the property useless.
Awesome build. The song in the background that starts at 18 minutes resonates with me. The announcer talked about giving up sleep in order to be successful. "You got to be willing to work of off 2 to 3 hours of sleep or go 3 days in a row without sleep without sleep. You got to want to be successful so bad that you forget to eat"...This describes exactly how I was in Architecture College to a T. I can vouch for the truthfulness of this statement. To be able to sacrifice what you are, for who you are able to become". Oh the Memories...Such a powerful powerful message. Great Song pick, who is the artist?
And in addition they change the lod generating technique (to make it look worse) and change it from a smooth radius of activation to clumpy activation.
Guys! This works very well for me; steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1349895184&searchtext= No performance changes. Our calls have been heard. DEUS VULT
Those rapper names.... I wonder how many googled those names. Lol love this episode! You and Pres with the New Windsor series.... You two get it. Love the old warehouse district. Looks like an are that could be renovated into a leisure district in the future, like a lot of American cities.
Haha, true! Thought my bus implementation is not dependent on the number of people, but by the spread of the city. A bit more expansion and the first routes should be justified! I just dont want bus routes that travel 8 blocks and then that's it :D
10/10 - You are one of those CS meistros/masters/gods who churn out these incredibly realistic scenes. I'm a boss at SC4 and I would be playing CS if it didn't overload by GPU... :( So you really know how to work this game.
Where are the suburbs? You need waves of suburban housing. The old houses, the some 1940s-1950s small tract ranches, some 1960s-1970s tract ranches and split levels, more 1980s-1990s-2000s McMansions in culdisacs because that's when more people started flocking to the south or at least Georgia. Then newer fringe suburbs built in the 2000s and 2010s in far away towns soon becoming crescent. You need to add malls strip malls schools and churches too and lots of freeway lanes
I just want some people to know that bot all of america is grid cities, like the parts of the northern east coast, but surburban sprawl is definitely still a problem wherever you look.
BattleSkorpion how is it a problem? It provides cheaper nicer houses to the vast majority of the public. I think like 70% of Americans live in the suburbs and for good reason. Cheaper prices, higher standard of living, nicer houses, bigger houses, closer to nature and amenities, less traffic than in a downtown etc
@BattleSkorpion and you are right, it is often dependent on the history of the city and how fast it's initial growth stages where and how centralized the planning process was or wasn't from the get-go.
ale haim i'm sorry, i think that i wrote this wrong. What i mean was, on steam where does he find the buildings that he uses, because i can't find they. Sorry for the bad english
Look up row house on the steam workshop. All of the buildings aren't Brooklyn themed some are made by someone else, cannot remember who, but the ones he used for the historical district are based off of row homes from my hometown Philly.

I like it! Great suggestion and a very unique sounding name!
Pretty sure that theres more parking spots than people in this city
markyguin that's what all cities are like you have to have at least one place to park the car and one place to drive to park the car
Funny thing is i actually have less parking than i initially "planned" in my thoughts for the project.
Lucas Fernandez thats what *most* cities are. In the US. Not everywhere
Lucas Fernandez thats what *most* cities are. In the US. Not everywhere
Plot twist his cheap housing is a cover-up for his secret lab
Unless Blujitsu denies this I will assume his guilt.

Oh god those rapper names!!!
Wouldn't wanna mess with these thugs, downvote the wrong asset and you're done homie
"The time spent on your cellphone could be used for your success!"
Me watching on my phone while I should be working: so true.
Well now you have learned a lesson which you can willingly ignore for the rest of your life, thus requiring a philosophical decision of yours. Not bad i'd say.
Infrastructurist I felt inspired to change my ways and be more responsible...for about a minute.
I want to just throw in a suggestion for a future project. A city like Berlin shortly after the wall fell, so you can clearly see that both parts developed very differently.
Oh, that could actually be super interesting!
That name out of nowhere gave me a heart attack. But I love the story, and I really love those rowhouses! Thanks, man. I just have to wonder what the company did that it needed all those workers- but that's for later on.
The cinematic, the detailing, the style, the LUT, the music.. aaaah perfect.. Thank you.

Interesting input. I have thought about the streetcar suburb scenario, and initially wanted to describe Carter (of episode 3) as such an area.

I'd totally buy one of those rowhouses - excellent work as always
The idea of the probably unused rail spur track is brilliant, I don't think I've ever seen it used before.
Mind to change that Ground-Texture of that lake you put into that park? Grass doesn't fit that well...
I am confused, what specific texture do you mean? Just the grass? :-D
yes, if you look at lakes, they mostly do not have grass or greenish ground at the floor, more like brown-grey mud or rocks.
I was looking at some southern towns and noticed they seem to have pretty large cemeteries (Macon, Savannah for example). Any plans to do a cemetary?
Yep! But thanks for reminding me, I often lose my ideas haha
Been waiting for townhouses and public housing !
Man we really need a mod that fixes the ugly tree LODs....
I NEED THAT MORE THAN OXYGEN BY NOW
SAME. WHY DOES PARADOX HAVE TO KEEP KILLING TREE LOD DISTANCE
And in addition they change the lod generating technique (to make it look worse) and change it from a smooth radius of activation to clumpy activation.

Infrastructurist looks better than vanilla. Not perfect tho (atleast not on the picture). Ill try it ingame today

Alderney Industrial Park
I like that one! Where does Alderney come from? Or is it just random :D
Infrastructurist it's a district in the game gta 4
20 000 people and not a single bus line xP
That's America for ya :D
Haha, true! Thought my bus implementation is not dependent on the number of people, but by the spread of the city. A bit more expansion and the first routes should be justified! I just dont want bus routes that travel 8 blocks and then that's it :D
Infrastructurist plz make the lines realistic
wow i LOVE the row home district! looks so pretty :)
I love your series

I'm a boss at SC4 and I would be playing CS if it didn't overload by GPU... :(
So you really know how to work this game.
Dude what GPU are you using where CS would overload it? I was running cities skylines with mods on a GTX 660 until about half a year ago.
It's some 1GB ATI GPU. It's old, almost eight years and I save up money for other things: house, etc.
Lil' pdelmo one of my personal favs
And I would call the industrial neighborhood Port Royal, after a little rural suburb of Beaufort, SC/Parris Island.

Loved the episode
Wondeful....simply delicious
Call the industrial area in the downtown from this episode "skid lane"
I love your vids!!
How about Port Wilhelmsen after the Logistics company based on the riverfront in Savannah, GA?
Have you uploaded a video on what mods you are using.?
Do you'll had some public transport in further episode?
Good job
Hi. Do you have a playlist of songs you use? Or is it random?
lv the new intro
very cool! name the industrial quarter steamvalley
You should make a "pixelated" cinematic with an isometric camera look, so it looks like original simcity!
Didn't the original SimCity have a top-down view?
What mod are you using to get those trees on the road? I don't think those are the vanilla trees.
Build a similar rowhouse neighbourhood at the other side of the city
Sacrifice what you are, for what you will become!
I just want some people to know that bot all of america is grid cities, like the parts of the northern east coast, but surburban sprawl is definitely still a problem wherever you look.

@Lucas Fernandez the cons of sprawl by far outweigh the pros. If you are interested i suggest googling it.
@BattleSkorpion and you are right, it is often dependent on the history of the city and how fast it's initial growth stages where and how centralized the planning process was or wasn't from the get-go.
Why are there traintracks inside the roads?
Which mod is used to abandon buildings in min 4:06??
Please do a city with less parking spaces.i never seen so much parking.especially in northeast cities. Nyc,philly,boston,d.c.
It would be funny if a rapper named Yo Molly was over there
when are you going to make anather video
Previous intro was better
What is the map called?
howcan you make a profit of 140k, with a population of 15-20k, a mod?
Please, use more F0 music!
Maybe call it The District? ;)
Rip trees
I still don't think that intro is true
👍
Crescentko industrialdea
Public Housing? But thats Cormmeurnism hurr durr....
Some of the inhabitants even use a shared apartment for storing dope. Pure collectivism!
Where does he found this RICO buildings? I cant found any
He at least uses the brooklyn theme houses with the plop the growables mod so they dont despawn after they are moved
ale haim i'm sorry, i think that i wrote this wrong. What i mean was, on steam where does he find the buildings that he uses, because i can't find they. Sorry for the bad english

Look like Cincinnati
To many Parking lots
Pls build richer neighberhoods
Markus W we haven't got to that part, yet. American style cities don't have many inner city rich neighborhoods, unless they live in a downtown condo.
Loved the video but could have been without the capitalist “motivational” speaker
Crescent ROLLS should have won. you people have no fun or imagination. Crescent Cyclones? just sounds awkward to say it!
MotownCountry it's about the story behind the name.
The Rolls was a funny one, but i think Bandit's story just captured people very well, and the effort is unmistakable.
