River East reminds me alot of Camden, New Jersey who has been one of the most neglected areas in America for many years. The way the industrial area seperates it from the river and how the highway basically isolates it from the rest of the city.
I want to do a lot of freight yard stuff and accompanying industry, but since I consider myself a rookie at that - I am starting out very small in this episode! :-D
Every monday I have to do the ironing for my mum - being able to watch these at the same time makes it so much better. Love this series so much. The level of detail is incredible. Thanks for another awesome episode Infrastructurist.
Issues facing Amatsukaido: Slightly overzealous planning in the capacity of a bridge. Redevelopment of a poor neighbourhood, making it so nice that now middle class people want to move there as well. Issues faving Crescent: Race riots, stagnation, urban decay, mass eviction of poor neighbourhoods to make room for a Stadium, crumbling infrastructure, rampant violent crimes in the city's recreational spaces... and we're only on episode 4... I miss Amatsukaido...
You know, your intro really got me thinking. I don’t think that the small town is doomed, but heavy industrial. The issue is small towns are unable to adapt because of budget constraints. The best way I can say it is we have switched from a producers paradise to a consumers paradise. A prime example is Detroit, not because it is so run down, but because of the comeback it is currently experencing caused by more residential development downtown instead of industrial or commercial.
20.32 Those houses look quite out of place here since it is supposed to be a very run down area. Maybe the shotgun houses by king Leno would look better
I really like this series, and I know it's still early, but next time you do a U.S. city, I'd love to see somewhere more positive xD Look at Dallas, Phoenix, LA (well, LA is positive and negative), Austin, San Antonio..... Basically Texas LOL I just say Texas, because there's lots of HUGE highway systems, it's growing nicely, the economy is doing great, and it seems pretty simple to build. Anyway, just a suggestion :)
Damn, the intro so dark man, I mean these newspaper headlines in the back... with the music, phew. Still makes me shiver a bit every time. Anyways, love your work, keep it up
I absolutely love this, I don't live in the city but I was shocked to see how fast the sorta nice looking downtown goes to run down bad neighborhoods and failing industry (Jacksonville Fl). In a blink of an eye you go from nice well maintained 4 lane roads to 2 lane roads that haven't been paved in like 20 years. Most UA-camrs that play this game doesn't really show this, they think the cities are always beautiful and clean, but in reality its quite bad.
I don’t know if you saw my comment on the old video. I said : that it will be cool that there is a lot of tourism and therefore a lot of museums, parks, monuments and also lakes with beaches! but ,very good video! it’s a city similar of the north of the USA (subscriber from france🙂)
alx_ gbln I'd love to see him build a newer, more economically positive American city that's seen lots of recent growth, instead of decline. Mainly the sun-belt, and within the sun-belt, mostly Texas. Dallas is a great example. Phoenix and Miami too.
I'd say Austin would be a better city to model than Dallas or Phoenix (because they are pretty bland in my opinion), and Miami isn't quite the typical American city due to its Caribbean influence.
When you get to the burbs it would be cool to see a complete high school campus! big school, football and baseball stadium, track and field, etc. Your typical nice, rich, suburban high school.
Your art direction is phenomenal. I really enjoy your choice of music, the intro, the snippets of commentary. In a run down neighborhood, from my experience servicing gas meters on houses in north Minneapolis (the bad part of town), you're going to see a lot of chain link fences with several cars parked in the driveways with litter all over. Excited to see what you got coming out next!
Really good work so far! I really hope that you’ll start building super-nice suburbs farther from the city for high middle class citizens. This is where I’ve lived my entire life and I’d love to see your adaptation of that to crescent!
I'd like to propose an idea: What about installing an old streetcar system connecting the suburbs and land around Cresent? Most American cities had some form of an old streetcar system left over from the 10s to 30s and some of the old railroad ROWs (right of ways) are still available or converted.
I have played Cities XL (and XXL) for a while, and now when I see these videos, I'm thinking What the fuck have I been doing all this time?! I know that this is heavily modded, but still. It looks much better, and extremely more flexible than Cities XL. When you just grab the road and adjust it a bit, or move stuff around, or combine several elements into one block that you can move around or copy - seeing this and being used to Cities XL it just looks like good old magic. Everything there is difficult, there so many workarounds you have to know. This just looks easy. It looks like an actual playable game.
Now that I have to go buy the game, would I want to have all the Snowfall, After Dark, Mass Transit expansions and what not, or should I just buy the deluxe edition?
Impressive as always, the decay, the desperation, the unfortunate result of city development in the USA. Infra, have you considered to make river-east look like a half of an older community separated from the other half by the highway?
Yo, Infrastructurist. This has been pretty accurate so far, but where are all the corner gas stations? Where the hell are the Carter residents supposed to get their swishers?
I wonder who tf decided back in like the 20th century that a super tall building next to small buildings Must be a great place with the location next to the highway You could later in the series turn the highway once built to divide the city underground like in many other cities mainly in the us
In the South, it was mainly racism that decided the highway placements when they were being built (remember that the US highway system was built in the 50s and 60s). In other places, it was general stupidity and lack of planning.
"River East Park is a nice place to get shot or robbed."
Thats just so fkcin hilarious.

can you build buildings under construction and a swimming pool please
What's the intro theme song / background music? Must have missed it somewhere.
You should do some first person tours if you get the chance
Every monday I have to do the ironing for my mum - being able to watch these at the same time makes it so much better. Love this series so much. The level of detail is incredible. Thanks for another awesome episode Infrastructurist.
I can't wait for the Middle Class, newer suburban sprawl! Great video :)

Great wasteland areas and top-notch city construction!

Never seases to amaze me. That looks a lot like a neighborhood in SC I used to live by on Beaufort Island.
Looks sweet. The building states mod is super cool.
Man, the Kendrick series had a significantly more positive to it than American Dream.
Finally a new part of this amazing city! Keep up the good work, buddy!
Love this series! Cheers from Sweden!!!
Lovin this series. You always do a nice balance between build size and details :)
Kinda thought it would look more like Kansas City, Topeka, or Wichita (My city) but this is turning out really nice, love the content you post.
Great Video I love how you tell stories with your videos.

Спасибо большое за твои труды!!! ты лучший!
Damn the music you have for all your videos is soooo good!
As ever, incredible detailing work. Reminds me a lot of the great Tekindus T on Sim City 4.

excellent work as always. the east section of river east could use some services - an elementary school and a clinic maybe
Your work really is impressive

moi aussi je suis français alx_gbln
That ain't Georgia. The South don't do tourism, lest your interested in American Civil War history I guess.

One of the best projects in the game
Hey man! So in order to get a very gritty feel in Crescent, I'd suggest using more of King Leno's residential props in your builds.
You must create a big industral sector with high density industry like a raffinery or a gas factory or a metallurgic factory!
I get so happy when I see these pop up, but I wish you posted more lol
Please continue the project japan, nb: your build is super awesome 🙌🏻
Damn with the detailing!

In 21:22, I like the Skyline and it almost aline in Empire Drive I think.
YAAASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for a episode!
Never come to a complete stop in eastside Crescent.
I have played Cities XL (and XXL) for a while, and now when I see these videos, I'm thinking What the fuck have I been doing all this time?!

You should make some of the inner city suburbs have more abandoned buildings and urban prairie
Impressive as always, the decay, the desperation, the unfortunate result of city development in the USA. Infra, have you considered to make river-east look like a half of an older community separated from the other half by the highway?
so amazing
good work as always
It's amazing
Can you please give us back the Japan Series? Thanks...
I would like to see a real-time video soon, currently it's all just time lapses and cinematics.
Infrastructurist - The cities of parking lots.)))
U should build London next
Yo, Infrastructurist. This has been pretty accurate so far, but where are all the corner gas stations? Where the hell are the Carter residents supposed to get their swishers?
Do you have a collection on steam? I would love to grab some of the assets used for this project.
Do you have a public album of photos you take of project progress?
Reminds me of East st.louis
wish you can get them buildings on ps4 and I love your city's your really good at them
I wonder who tf decided back in like the 20th century that a super tall building next to small buildings

just my input, but since you're doing a large American city, i really think you should be more open to alleyways and stuff like that
Any tips for someone wanting to something like this?
The Crescent Cougars
How do you find the music for these videos? I absolutely love the feel and would love to use it in some of my stuff
Sounds like some Future Garage and some "old-school" style Dubstep. Not sure exactly the artists though.
