Chaka Khan is the real thing. she's incredible. This song is perfect, especially Stevie on harmonica. His tone is impeccable. You need to hear Chaka's duet with Steve Winwood on Higher Love, it's a must hear!
Prince loved Chaka so much, they performed together many times & he always made sure she was the focus, gave her a lot of the spotlight, which for Prince, means he respects her very, very highly!
Chaka Khan is a 10x Grammy winner widely known as the Queen of Funk. She is a solo performer who previously sang with the Funk act, Rufus & Chaka Khan. You should react to "Ain't Nobody" next. That Harmonica is Stevie Wonder, btw! So are the samples of crowd noise and the little boy saying "say yeah" when he was just 12 with his first hit ("Little" Stevie Wonder - "Fingertips, pt.1". (You should react to that one, too. It's nuts!) How cool is that, though? Stevie-freakin-Wonder! The rap part is Grandmaster Melle Mel (you should react to "The Message"), an icon in his own right. That fonky synth bass is by the white dude from The System (you should react to The System - "Don't Disturb This Groove"). It was produced by Arif Mardin, a world-class talent and longtime VP of Atlantic Records. He's best known as the producer who discovered Barry Gibb's falsetto. And it's a straight-up Prince cover on top of all that. So, this song is just legendary in every way.
I saw Chaka live in Atlantic City a few times. Her shows are amazing and she sounds excellent live! She is so personable during the show. She is and will always be a class act. Shes a beautiful person inside and out.
The one and only icon and legend, Chaka Khan! She is a force to be reckoned with! She first came on the scene in the 70's with the group Rufus. Check them out (Tell Me Something Good, Ain't Nobody, Sweet Thing). Solo Chaka had some hits as well (I'm Every Woman, Through The Fire). That's just a few, she has MANY hits! This song was penned by Prince. Melle Mel of Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five was rapping and Stevie Wonder on harmonica. This is a great journey for you to explore.
One of the most talented singers from the 80's. It's great to see you appreciate this song ! We dressed like this when we went out- (the gloves and hats mattered a lot). Thank you for making this.
She is a true diva. Her body of work with her band Rufus in the 70s plus her extensive solo work is truly impressive. You really need to do a deep dive into her catalogue. Sweet Thing, Tell Me Something Good w/Rufus, I'm Every Woman (that Whitney remade) and so, so many more.
CHAKA KHAN is a Whole Vibe and Experience a 10x Grammy Award Winner a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame and She's in The Rock And Roll Of Fame.Chaka is widely known as The Queen Of Funk
The white guy at 2:44 is Pop 'n Taco (Bruno Falcon). He also does the dancing in "Meeting in the Ladies Room" from Klymaxx. One you should def check out.
As soon as I saw the preview, I thought Shon is going to LOVE this track ! Simply put this is a ICONIC song by a legendary artist. Back in 84 it caused a big response, merging soul r n b with hip hop and rap. Exciting times to be a 12 year old for sure ! Love your reaction too, you get it.
Chaka is incredible!! You’d probably recognize her song “Ain’t Nobody”… it’s been in a ton of movies. Other amazing Chaka Khan “Tell Me Something Good”🔥🔥, “Sweet Thing”, “I’m Every Woman” and the list goes on. She was recently was on Tiny Desk….71 and still sounds unbelievable!!👑 She was also the lead singer for Rufus….another band worth checking out.
She was my 1st concert! Ready for the World opened for her (they did "Oh Sheila"). Rick James was sitting in the balcony across the way from us (this was in Buffalo, his hometown). Amazing show!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Chaka put her thang down on this fantastic cover of Prince’s original track from 1979. his initial 1978 demo recording of the song was released several years ago by his estate to the public. It’s just him singing and accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. I actually love that version even more than his studio version. But it’s really cool to hear Prince’s original recordings to appreciate the direction that Chaka and friends (Melle Mel rapping and Stevie Wonder on harmonica) took the song in 1984. Chaka’s cover was a major hit record and is still such a banger! She was, and still is the queen of funk. 👑 One of the best female vocalists out there in the game.
Yes, it's a Prince cover (wich I like a lot) and the harmonica here is served by another master, Stevie Wonder. Oh! the breakdancers are from the movie "Breakin'".
I remember when this came out...I was at school and this tune was MASSIVE!!! An absolute classic, as soon as that opening "Chaka Khan" kicks in, before the rap, you know what it is, this song is instantly recognisable. Love it ❤
Chaka is one of the best gals in the business. There was not a day that went by when she was not on the radio. It wouldn't be the '80s without her in your ears.
All the ladies clothing was courtesy of Norma Kamali. This video was incorporated by her label for advertising her clothing line in Norma Kamali boutiques in the 80’s!
Stevie Wonder on harmonica. He’s the master. Prince wrote the song! ❤ She’s so beautiful and talented. Famous breakers and poppers in this one like Shabbadoo and Boogaloo Shrimp
'I Feel For You' was a song on Prince's second album released in 1979 (just called 'Prince') and wasn't released as a single at that time. Chaka's version is one of the better Prince covers featuring a mixture of old school funk and the then new elements of Hip Hop with masterful harmonica from Stevie Wonder. The Prince Estate released an acoustic demo as a single a few years ago, but if you want to react to the proper version check out the album track. Btw Stevie Wonder played harmonica on a lot of other folks records at the time, including Eurythmics, Culture Club and The Beach Boys.
Like the moves Shon!..loved the music and vibe of Chaka Khan back in the 80s. So well constructed and choreographed song. Videos back in the 80s are the best. Loved the start, you cannot help but raise the shoulders straight off!.. I tell you Shon the 80s growing up was the best. S much love for the fum. It was the music ..all about the music, with the clothes of course. Happy days for sure. Love your channel!
True Story: working in schools in Louisiana setting up benefits for teachers. Met with a teacher in a school outside of Lafayette and this teacher got to talking about the craziness in the schools, parents, all of it. She told me one of her parents liked this song so much they named their girl Chaka Khan. The teacher told me they couldn't call the girl up to the chalk board to work a problem because if they did the entire classroom would start: Chaka Chaka Chaka Khan Chaka Ch Ch Chaka Khan.... One of the best memories I got out of traveling all over south Louisiana for a couple of years, and there were more than a couple of great ones.
First off Chaka Kahn is not a group but a female solo artist. She fronted a band in the early to mid 70s called Rufus who had a few hits-Tell Me Something Good, Sweet Thing and Hollywood-then went solo. The harmonica is played by Stevie Wonder.
In the video Chaka only worked w/the DJ. The dancers weren't in a music video. It was a clothes store commercial. 😊... That's crazy! Still 1 of my favorite videos. Chaka is still killin it.
Bro, I remember this came out when I was starting out 6th grade. This and Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" were the hits. Love the channel. Keep it up. Much love from SATX.
This is a great song, but it barely scratches the surface of what Chaka Khan can do vocally. Tell Me Something Good, Ain't Nobody, and I'm Every Woman are must listens!
Yes, This a a Prince cover and you should definitely check out the original from 1979. Prince’s is soft disco. Chaka cover is fantastic. With Stevie Wonder on it, how could it be anything but good? And the sound was more updated for the 80’s.
Shon, The 3 main breakdancers in this video star in the 1984 movie Breakin' which came out around the same time as this music video Adolfo "Shabba Doo" Quiñones 1955 - 2020 (yellow shirt and pants) Bruno " Pop N Taco" Falcon 1964 - 2022 (black shirt / plaid pants) Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers born 1967 (black vest / black pants / red shoes) *Find the movie and watch it. Rufus and Chaka had a banger back in the day called "Tell Me Something Good" it's a MUST bruv!
Couldn't agree more!!!!! Shon , " Tell me something good* is gonna wreck ya
Written by Stevie Wonder. :)
I just came here to say the same thing! I would love to see his reaction to that one.
I agree 100%, it's a MUST! ✌
Yessss
Chaka Khan is the real thing. she's incredible. This song is perfect, especially Stevie on harmonica. His tone is impeccable. You need to hear Chaka's duet with Steve Winwood on Higher Love, it's a must hear!
Prince wrote it, Melle Mel raps on it, Stevie Wonder plays chromatic harmonica on it… Eternal party banger
Right?! And Chaka Khan owned it.
We love Melle Mel!!!
Stevie is killin that harmonica, can't believe it's 40 years old ❤
Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody
I second this!!😊
Possibly her best and most fun song of all.
YESSSSSS
Definitely a must, her best for me ❤️
FYI -- Someone aired a latter year Live version of this, it was awful. But regular version is awesome!
I just love Chaka Khan
That is a harmonica and it's being played by Stevie Wonder.
I never knew that, but immediately I thought the harmonica sounded just like something I’d hear in a Stevie Wonder song. Now I know why…
Prince loved Chaka so much, they performed together many times & he always made sure she was the focus, gave her a lot of the spotlight, which for Prince, means he respects her very, very highly!
I love it when Prince sings sweet thing. You're so right. Prince loved Chaka❤
❤

SHE is Miss Chaka Khan, an institution herself. Love, love CHAKA KHAN. 👏👏👏🥰
Another Prince-written song! Love this rabbit hole.
I just learned about a year ago, that Prince had written a lot of songs for other artists. He was so talented ❤
How come people always say a rabbit hole??? Why not a gofer hole or a chipmunk hole??? Whats a rabbit got to do with anything???
Let’s go!!✌️😊🔥 not a group. She is Chaka Kahn. And this is from the movie Breaking from the 80’s….all the dancers was in the movie.
Shabadoo and Boogaloo Shrimp were the shit in the world of breakdancing in the 80's!
RIP Shabadoo. Greatness! Boogaloo Shrip still killen' it!
"Through the Fire" is where you will hear her vocal range. Amongst others, but this one is LEGEND!!!
Agreed. This one is amazing
I saw Chaka live in Atlantic City a few times. Her shows are amazing and she sounds excellent live! She is so personable during the show. She is and will always be a class act. Shes a beautiful person inside and out.
Yep, this is the ultimate version. Her incredible voice. She is Chaka Khan. Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Just an incredible song.
Yup! I was just gonna say Stevie on the harmonica, stole the words out my MOUFF! LOL but it's a whole jam right there

My most favorite song and video from the 80s.

One of the most talented singers from the 80's. It's great to see you appreciate this song ! We dressed like this when we went out- (the gloves and hats mattered a lot). Thank you for making this.
Chaka had the best pipes in the industry back in the day. Big soul from a small package. 🌟
&& ELECTRIC BOOGALOO!!! OMG this was a favorite!!! Good shit back in the day!!!❤ you got me groovin this morning!!

Written by Prince and Stevie Wonder on harmonica 😅
Still slaps after all these years.
The rap is printed on my brain. It had so much play time on the old radio.
Awesome reaction to a timeless song.
Saw her in the bay area. Amazing voice. She has a lot of hits. Will love to see all her hits reviewed by you. Thank you.

I am a 53 old white male.. this was my jam in middle school. I had the biggest crush on Chaka Kahn and Tina Tuner
Yeah, " Tell Me Something Good" Is a Groovy Song! 😊✌
I remember when this came out...I was at school and this tune was MASSIVE!!! An absolute classic, as soon as that opening "Chaka Khan" kicks in, before the rap, you know what it is, this song is instantly recognisable. Love it ❤
Chaka tore it up! Her song would start and the dance floor was immediately packed. So good ✌🏽
This is the Prince song. She covers it and gives it more of a dance feel. You should try the original just to compare.
PRINCE also wrote ANOTHER MANIC MONDAY for the 80s female group THE BANGLES which was super popular
I love that song
Prince also wrote, nothing compares to you. He wrote all of his music.
LIKE SUGAR, I'M EVERY WOMAN, AIN'T NOBODY - so many great tracks from her

Chaka Kahn 🎉thanks Shon!
The break dancers in the video are from the movie "Breakin" which was a pretty big underground hit among high school kids at the time.
Prince wrote this song 🎵🎶
Her signature song is "Ain't Nobody "
a mega 80's hit
There are no copyright laws preventing people from using the same titles for books and songs😊
Shon,
