Wood Cabin Ambience | Heavy Blizzard Sounds for Sleep, Relaxation & Study with Fireplace Sounds

  • The snowstorm bites through your cloak as you trudge through the thick snow. You know it’s just a little bit further. You pick your head up, carrying your pack and a bundle of firewood.
Even through the blizzard you recognize your wood cabin and open its sturdy wooden door. The howl of the wind falls to a distant roar as you bustle about the wood cabin. Soon you have the fireplace going, the firewood crackling as it heats up the cold cabin, and your worries melt away along with the frost on your cloak.
The mountain cabin accommodates a party of six, but tonight you have it to yourself. You lean back and make yourself comfortable, feeling safe and secure.
I Hope you all enjoy it.

I love the lantern. When I was a boy, we lived on a small farm in the mountains of West Virginia, with no other houses in view of ours. My father used to put a lit lantern in the cellar at night and then pile snow against the door as insulation, to keep our mother's jars of canned vegetables from freezing. He would take potatoes from the cellar on the cold winter evenings and put them in the ashes under the fireplace coal grate. It seemed like forever before they were ready, but eventually he would rake them out, clean them off, and we would eat them with salt. No butter, for some reason, and we didn't have sour cream. Just salt. God what I would give to live one more night like that with my mother and father, now both long gone....

I think of my life and his (them) and how much I've accomplished versus them and I don't measure up, lol. I guess perhaps in our own way we do, but honestly I still think of this briefly. Tuning out the noise of civilization and retreating to a cabin in the snow where nobody can reach me is a wonderful thought.
Imagine it. Since your abode is so far from any trace of human life, you hike miles up a mountain to get there. The trip is demanding but the reward is far greater. After your trek, you open the door to the cabin and drop your gear at the door. The back of your throat burns with cold and your feet are now so sore that you question as to whether or not you wore shoes to begin with? None of that matters anymore because a few steps into the doorway will solve all of your troubles. There is nothing that stands in the way between you, this fireplace, a hot batch of stew, a fresh cup of coffee, blank pages, and your mighty pen. But, most importantly...Tranquility.

Uhm.... If you wore shoes instead of insulated hiking/backpacking boots, then your cold and sore feet are on you. I see a hike up with a backpack with some fresh supplies, on a solid pair of older snowshoes with woolen socks and insulated hiking boots on metal crampons attached to the snowshoes so I can make it up the trail without having to struggle too much.
Or better yet the cabin is in a drainage on a cross-country skiing trail that one glides towards with a gently undulating motion as it crosses the toes of several low ridges before you get to the cabin.
Though I live in a suburb, I'm occasionally able to go snowshoeing from my front door when we get enough snow.

Just the right balance of blizzard and cabin sounds. Reminds me of a blizzard I went through with my grandparents in London. The English have a knack for preparing cozy resting places in quaint locations in old houses with creaky boards and fireplaces with mugs of tea and granny knitting sweaters. Windows were just drafty enough to give you an idea what it was like outside and keep your toes tucked under your hot water bottle..

I'm sitting in my warm living room, watching the fireplace burn and observing my sons' two cats asleep on the couch and the snuggly quilt I keep by my easy-chair for days just like these. The predicted winter storm has arrived, bringing tiny icy balls of sleet, alternating with salt-fine snow showers and rapidly freezing rain. There is already a quarter-inch of clear ice coating everything, and the trees are bending under the load. It won't be long before the telltale gunfire-cracking of limbs begins and my week or more of chainsaw work begins, but today I'm happy watching the snow, sleet, and freezing rain transform my little world. I worked hard for decades, dreaming of a quiet retirement and days just like today. Just one day like this makes it all worth it.

The larder is stocked with goods aplenty. A full cord of wood, dried and stowed, to burn the blizzard and beat the cold. Books full of words for reading, and blank pages for filling. I want for that every soul that wished it, a plot of land and a cabin to sit it.

As an inclement weather devotee this wonderful cabin in a blizzard would be right up my alley. If I were a story writer I would be curled up in a blanket writing about being stranded in the blizzard after having seen something that day near the edge of the forest, slightly obscured by the blowing snow. It was big. Was it just a really tall hunter? A bear standing on his hind legs, sniffing the air for prey? Or could it possibly be...Bigfoot? Is the cabin creaking from the wind? Something testing the door? A bear scratching on the cabin? I'm glad that window is small.

Let us all go into a large mansion in Northern Alaska in the wintertime, and enjoy ourselves with cups of cocoa with peppermint and cinnamon sticks while watching the northern lights dance, before the snow begins to fall heavily outside. We will tell each other stories that will haunt us, make us laugh, and make us blush. But finally, as the candlelight dims and it is time for bed, we walk to our large bedrooms. While staring at the darkwood timber ceiling, and listening to the faint howling of the storm outside, we sink into our fur blankets, and dream. While we go deep into each of our slumbers, we all wish that that evening was real, that such paradise and comfort is real, that magic is real. But most importantly, that we all are real, so we can greet each other in the morning.
(If someone could write a story based of this and send me link, that would be great! Otherwise, enjoy yourselves!)

I love the sound of wind blowing, its just instinctual to me to just like it. When i was just a little boy living in the Philippines, living near a small lake my family owned i used to love just sitting on the lakeside and listen to the breeze blow across the waters surface. But my most favorite moments were when Hurricanes and rainstorms came in. Hurricanes can mean alot of flooding, and rebuilding, but those were only for the worst of the worst, and storms were a common occurrence. Anyways, during these storms the power would usually cut out and at night my family had to resort to using candles and the fireplace for light. My mom would usually set up a huge nest of comforters and blankets in front of the fireplace and usher me and my brother next to her. I would lay my head on her lap and shed tousle my hair, comforting the both of us. Just laying down there next to her, with the light of the fire and candles dancing on the ceiling and the wind softly howling above our house..... it was so comforting. Id give anything to relive those moments just one more time
