- The ending scene where the female human noble marries Alistair.
For those of you asking for the savegame file, there is a nifty new mod that creates a save game file to import into DA2 There is some bugginess with some of the other origins but the Queen Cousland import appears to work correctly!
social.bioware....
"As a reward and as an engagement present..." woah, woah Alistair, you can't just mooch off of the two with one gift. That's two separate gifts, boy.
You have learned will young padawan! You will go far with the ladies with that viewpoint.
He wears that badass golden king's armor,still carries around the wooden templar shield...classic Alistair.
I played DAO many times with male and female characters , BY FAR human noble female was the best story for me ! So emotional.. two characters who both lost ppl they loved end up being the only 2 people to save the world and despite all the crap that happens they some how falll in love but not without sacrifice:') i would totally watch this if it were a series !
@@Starkyrie Wow! will you be finishing that series?
I kind of find it funny how he announced that they're betrothed but addressed her as "My friend." X3
My husband calls me his one and only love and yet still says I am his best friend, it works just fine!
I love how he is whispers "an as an engagement present" really amazing voice acting on Steve Valentine's part. While if you marry Anora she says the same dialogue I believe but obviously replacing she with he etc. Anora still says "an as engagement present" but everyone in the audience can hear it, while with Alistair he's specifically telling you. I guess it's because with Alistair most Wardens who become his queen were actually in a relationship with him while with Anora it's strictly a political union. What happens if you become Alistair's queen in the way of a political marriage, does he still whisper it?
I felt so pround seeing Alistair crowned and becoming queen. Plus in my mind an unhardened Alistair can only be a good king if he has a female Cousland by his side.
I always think "Good thing I first played DAO with a female Cousland" because it was very immersive and satisfying.
Rhaaa makes me to play as a Cousland again ! This game is so full of possibilities !
P.S. : Seriously, Alistair is just so cute !
I had the funniest scene ever as a Dalish elf Warrior by complete accident. I did "Return to Ostagar" as early as possible, found all of Cailens armor, equiped all of it, then went to Lake Calenhad. I talked to the former boatman there and he said something like "Sorry, i just have never seen an elf dressed like the king of Fereldon before..."
I have never laughed so much before in my life! :D
Well, to be fair, it's the nobles who wouldn't permit it: I'm sure Alistair would have loved to marry an elf! ^_^
@TheGscoutmom Morrigan actually explains that the baby won't die b/c of the ritual, and that it will absorb the archdemon's essence and become an old god.
@ANBUKeybladeMaster You can't marry him, but you can continue to be with him and be his mistress. In the epilogue it will say something like "he never parted away for long from his love" and such. To do that, when you make him king, (and kill Loghain), and he comes to talk to you to break up with you, choose the dialog that says "no one can tell the king what to do" or something like that, and he will stay with you. He has to be hardened in his personal quest tho.
Thanks again and you've been quick with responses.
It seems that the best thing for the alienage elves is for Alistair to become king.
I wonder if he shows up (probably does) at the end even if he was mad enough if you let Loghain join the Gray Wardens after he becomes set to marry Anora that Alistair leaves them and your party.
She showed up after the Landsmeet to talk and referred to Alistair as her future husband or something like it so she hasn't dumped him at that point.
This truly is the best ending, I love Alistair 🥰
2:18 FERGUS IS ALIVE!!
@devilchild126
Although you've probably already found the answer to this question i'll post in case anyone has the same. You need to be a noble human to marry as his Queen. However, if he and Anora marry and you are romanced with him (along with him being "hardened" from his personal quest) you are still around as his lover.
Yes you have to be a human, female, noble to marry king Alistair.
My favorite ending. I couldn't choose between Alistair and Zevran to save my life. Both are so utterly amazing. Alistair is so sweet, Zevran is just hilarious.
I'm at Denerim, I took out all the darkspawn at the front of the city, but don't know where to go now, I have a horrible sense of direction.
I dunno if you're still having this problem, but there should be a bunch of soldiers that make a path to the gates where you're supposed to go. When i have trouble, I always go in the opposite direction of where I came from.
@ pprl1 - They are not considered actually noble, just "more equal" then they were. It continues with an ending if you choose Anora as Queen events later sour again with humans and elves and she takes agressive measures with the elves.
So yes, at first the Alienage becomes able to govern itself and is free for a time until Anora cracks down on them after an incident. I don't know if that changes from endings, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't (as long as Anora is Queen in any situation).
@zhijn they don't really explain it. In fact you end up with a boatload of other titles but not Queen. Since Anora is alive (and imprisoned) your warden is technically the princess-consort. You aren't referred to by this title either. None of the NPCs acknowledge that you are married to the King. Alistair does acknowledge your marriage with him at least, so thats something.
My ending ^^
@FatherofVulcanLogic This game is well worth it. The plot is absolutely amazing and the gameplay is awesome!
@SaberXKnight1 Yes :-) You have the option to choose between your own character, or a pre-made history for an Orlesian (if i remember correctly) warden-commander. Of course, if your character died in Origins, this is your only option. The pre-made character starts off with some sweet gear, though, so no worries :)
Okay. Thank you.
There was just an update for Dragon Age, so maybe it won't bug. Thank you!
@TakaShinjuPullips yup - the character in the video is a rogue human noble
@XZanayu Mad is an understatement. As far as I've read, it'll break off the relationship and he will end up exiled or executed in the worst. But he won't be king and he sure as heck won't marry your warden.
I decided that I'd rather have him 'cheat' on my warden with her consent rather than either of them dying or him ending up a drunk in some bar in Orlais.
Alistair is one of the best RPG characters ever, and this is coming from a dude, a STRAIGHT dude xD
@moarinternets You can actually get the armour from the Return to Ostagar expansion now..
@CharlotteEmily09 It doesn't make me sad, it makes me wish I could stick up with just one character the whole game... now I've got the third one... first of all it was a mage, then it was a dalish warrior and now a human noble rouge
@LittleFrenchy72 If you get the add on return to Ostagar you can find King Cailan's armor.
@ElegantAndPoised Indeed, he is Fergus Cousland. But you only know about him before if you play as human noble (cause in that case he is your brother). That was my experience in this masterpiece.
Yes it is Fergus, :) Youre brother survived and now owns Highever
@LittleFrenchy72 it's the King's armor, basically the same as Cailan's. If you play through Return To Ostagar you can get the full set
@sakurabloomify It depends on your character. If you are not a Female Human Noble, and you make him king, he will breakup with you. But if you're persuasion is high, you can get him to keep seeing you. If you are a female human noble, during the landsmeet where you must decide who will rule Ferelden, choose the option "(persuade) Alistair will rule and I shall rule beside him", or something like that. If your persuasion is high enough, he will accept. Also, he must sleep with Morrigan.
i believe so yes, this armor is also shown on the official dragon age website for the upcomming DLC return too Ostagar. think they will make it so you can get that armor in that DLC, at least i hope so.
@LittleFrenchy72 it is default, but you can get it for him to wear from DLC Return to Ostagar
@themockinator ugh but I have to let Morrigan do the nasty to him.. lol
you just helped me tons- thanks so much!
Just got this ending the other day....... You know what really stung me about it? The bit in the afterword where it tells that despite Alistair and Queen being great and all lovey-dovey, they were never able to bear a child- probably the result of them both being Grey Wardenss... :( That was really tough- I guess it shows there's no such thing as a 100% happy ending in the best stories.
@TakaShinjuPullips Class doesn't affect it at all, but you'll need maxed coercion and to be Human Noble (otherwise you won't be able to marry him) (Yes, I tried it with a Human Magi, he said only those of royal families can marry kings, and I doubt he'll marry a dwarven female)
in the new DLC that is next too come out you will be able too return too Ostagar after the battle, and if i have read it correctly you can claim the kings armor then, also if you didn't do the dog quest you can also go get that.
@moarinternets You can also get it in Return to Orzamar.
@Xytos
No, Zevran is the Antivian elf. I know that he will betray you if he has a low approval rating, so if I don't use him I tend to give him gifts to keep him happy with me so I've still got him and I don't have to fight Tailsan. Or I take his stuff and kick him out, depends if I need help.
@ pprl1 - You can be the voice of the Alienage no matter what sex your character is or romantic status you have, as long as it is the thing you ask for from the Queen/King at the end.
@woufwoufful
No worries. There's a mod so any gal can marry Alistair. Go to Dragon Age Nexus and search for a Mod called "Anyone can marry Alistair". Put it in your Override Folder (My Documents/Bioware etc.) and your mage can marry Alistair.
@TheEman119 Yep! He Survives the darkspawn too! I was so happy when I saw him! He's sooo cool!
@moarinternets
I remember reading something about it still being possible if you harden Alistair up after his meeting with Goldanna. He just doesn't care then what the nobles think and marries you anyway.
@lowfatyogurtlover unfortunately, I don't have a save of that..
It used to be bugged and you couldn't talk to him at the end of the game. Anora gives you the boon and what not and then you only find out what happens with you and Alistair in the epilogue slides. I don't know if they fixed the bug so you could speak with him.
@aerith055 there is a mod which allows you to persuade Alistair to marry you no matter what race you are, and it carries over into Awakening quite well.
@Dionkeyundead no you execute Loghain and take Morrigan's offer. You have to talk Alistair into doing the deed.
@RgreenMGRR From what I read it has allready been confirmed that Flemeth will appear in DA2. I wonder of Morrigan will show up as well, alongside her archdemonsoul-bastard of a child.
@Nefferduat He became the announcer in the fade.
@moarinternets Actually, if you compare Alistairs armour to Cailan's, it exactly the same. The only real change in it is the stats it has.
Alistar is the best damn romance IN the DA series.
@dasiy111
Then go for it ;)
Just make sure you harden him after the goldana scene :)
@SuperAngieful
thanks for the help dude
@FatherofVulcanLogic You cannot roam after you are done with Origins, but there are DLC's and an expansion pack to keep you entertained, add the fact the game KEEPS drawing you back in to replay it because there are SEVERAL ways it can end ultimately, I never had trouble deciding if Dragon Age was worth it or not after buying and playing it.
@ocanator ack you are correct! I meant to say during the Landsmeet quests. Thanks for the correction!
@Syivris it should just show up when you equip it on the dog. if it isn't then maybe you're bugged.
@TempusSans I think it's because he's already narrating the beginning (He's probably speaking from the fade as RyuKaguya already said)
Sounds awsome - always wanted to see how Ostagar would look after battle
I have not been able to finish the game with some of the other endings yet. For the Loghain ending, I want to do that with a different character. Look for those to appear in the next few weeks!
@moarinternets No, you get into it after you break out of the prison, right before the Landsmeet, the Landsmeet is the end of the game.
@FatherofVulcanLogic Once U Beat DA:O, There's A XPack Called Awakenings That Is Sold Seperate. In Awakenings, U Can Either Import Your Grey Warden Hero (Provided He/She Survived DA:O's Final Campaign) Or Play A New Grey Warden Hero From The Kingdom Of Orleis & The XPack's Story Takes Place A Year Or So After The Original's Events. There R Also A Number Of Cool DLCs Available That Can Be Played During Origins Or Awakenings (Leiliana's Song, Witch Hunt & Return 2 Ostagar R The Best 1s).
@Paoteme I think it's Cailan's armor, actually.
@LittleFrenchy72 Its the King's armor. You don't pick it out for him, he wears it in this scene by default.
@sakurabloomify Noble is one of the origin choices for the human. If you are a warrior or rogue human, you are only allowed to be a noble. If you are a human mage, your origin story will bring you to the Circle of Magi. In the game, the nobles are one step below royalty which is why you can marry Alistair. If you are a human mage, you can't.
@JMSLionheart Thanks I've only played as either the mage or the dalish elf storyline xx
@FatherofVulcanLogic
Yes it is definitely worth getting.It is a fabulous game. The conversations and the story alone is worth the price. The gameplay is great .I played a rogue /bard/assassin did my poisons and I was very happy with the game.
@ZOMGitsDouchebag the DLC isn't out yet
I'm completing this ending right now, and just waiting to see how it affects DA 2. This works out short term for my character, but Anora was probably right when she stated before that this would be seen by the nobles as placing the Grey Warden's interests above Ferelden's interest. And she was just talking about Alistair being made king, not two Wardens being placed on the thrones. But we'll see.
@emilons97 Sorry I may not have express myself properly (english isn't my mother tongue so I mess up sometimes). I meant my Cousland becoming queen, not Alistair (that will be awkward) ! XD
this is what i wonder... how did that reverend mother feel (the one that Alistair's talks about when you talk about his Chantry Life) when Alistair became king XD
I agree! It would have been nice to see too PC and big brother find out each other is alive. Hint Hint Bioware - Complete each segway 'at least some way'.
@LordXenocide Yeah like right after you talk with that grey warden dude and he tells u that a grey warden needs to kill the archdemon, speak with morrigan and she will tell you about the ritual. If your a dude, she'll suggest the ritual with you, if your a girl than with alister and if you choose logaine to live shell suggest him.
@szjovane It's a mystery, the game doesn't say. But morrigan promises that it won't be evil.
@mslightbright no you won't be queen if Alistair dies. He isn't coronated until after.
@Nefferduat Gray Warden zombies?
i smell a sequel
Good question.
I think Morrigan says that the baby will survive since it isn't as developed as an adult or something similar.
Though that leaves open the question of what they baby will be like and what Morrigan plans to do with it.
That could be serve it, raise it and teach it, take over its body and power as her mother would hers, or something I haven't thought of yet.
@fatmanfalling you have probably already gotten to that part, but just in case, no, you can't... it was very sad when she had to part ways with Alistair. First Gorim, then Alistair. Now that's bad luck!
i love happy endings:)
And yes, you have to be a human noble. If you're another race and he is "hardened" you can be his mistress but not wife. And you still have to kill Logain and do the ritual.
I will remember that next time.
@ladyzuzi I'm really on the fence on this. The whole world really sucks if you think about it - everyone in it is miserable and no one has any happiness without some huge sacrifice. If a male character romances Morrigan - she leaves, baby or no. If you're romancing Leliana or Zev, then you have to cheat or talk Alistair into it. But I agree, I think its worse for women but its not a huge gulf.
I just finished this and I messed up somewhere in the romance.. He only named me his chancellor :/
You have to get the Persuasion option that says "Alistair will be King and I shall rule at his side".
I got this ending
@TwilightFalls no he wont hate you, he will be happy that you told him to look out for himself, he will want to be king if you toughen him
@dasiy111
Your welcome :)
And you don't have to harden him when your not making him king :) He'll just go with you :)
You only have to harden him to make him king while still being your girlfriend ;)
Though he sadly won't play along you, he will have other obligations in Awakening, but you will still see him as king ofcourse ;)
what happen in awakening are they still married what he says when he sees you? Tell me I most know
I know this reply is 5 year late and you may already know now, but yes, they are still married, there is only one scene where Alistair visits Vigil Keep and addresses her as "My dear wife".
@kayschoot no, the Player ALWAYS kills the archdemon, no matter what, and because of Morrigan's Ritual, no one dies. and he will marry you during a scene in the landsmeet I think.... but whatever you do, you must be in LOOOOVE with him
@Jonaries I had a female noble dwarf, it was fucking sad (second time my character ended up alone)... but I'll keep that in mind for my third playthrough (in a distant future)
Yes, you can; if you support Anora as king, and then let Alistair sleep with Morrigan to make a dark demonspawn baby that'll keep you both alive, you can both remain grey wardens, un-kinged and un-queened, and still stay together at the end o the game (how I ended my first play through as a city elf rogue.) You just have to push for Anora to be queen and Alistair will step down pretty gratefully, and then you two are hooked at the hip from that point onwards.
@gorillazgal a real story that made sense, with an over-arching villain/threat, characters who's stories weren't just cliched, J-RPG-esque melodrama, and a main character that was infinitely more personal. they need to bring the "Origins" back into dragon age in DA3. and they need to take their damn time with it, not rush it out in a less than a year and a half.
the queen ending is the best ending IMO :D
Well for now, you can't get it. It's the Kings armor that is in this video. However they just announced new DLC that will make this armor available in the game.
I had an outher ending.... and cryed... soooooooooo much! But in english its defficult to understand.... strong acsent (hope wrote it correct). I love Alistair!
@moarinternets well I take that back - some of your companions do, but the NPCs you meet don't acknowledge it.
@Protocultist actually its elves and not dwarves.AND the answer to your question is no sorry
@MajorShepard theres only 4 endings needed for that
@Jonaries what's funny is when my character was talking to alistair in camp right befre the landsmeet he's talking about how he loves here etc. and then my character asked if here being an elf matters to him and he says"of course not" which i thought was romantic and then latter he said he couldnt be with her because of that but i never di his side quest so i just loaded back and "hardened him so that he would take her as his mistress.
@dasiy111
If you harden him during his personal quest you can still be his mistress :)
... Yeah yeah, I know. It's not exactly being a queen and all that, but at least you can still be with him :)
Also if you travel with him instead of making him king, nobody says you won't get married with him then :) Even if your not going to be a queen ;)
@melee05 you have to propose at the landsmeet, so to speak. He won't propose to you.
