  • This past week, I realized I had three days free so with only one day of prep, I loaded all the gear I would need and took off on my trusty BMW 1250 GSA to do the last three sections of the Colorado BDR. I was a little concerned that the BMW was a little too big of a bike to do the BDR, especially with the TKC 70 tires I have on it. Normally I would swap the tires out for a set of MOTOZ Tractionators, but there just wasn't time, so I went with what I had. As you'll see, the bike handled fantastically and the trip was a total success.

    I stumbled across your Channel while searching for Colorado BDR. Ive been on dirt bikes most of my life and a few street bikes as well, however Im new to Adventure Bikes and Im finding out its a whole new world. Thanks for the video as it gives me an idea of what to expect. I have two bikes and can't decide which one would be better for the BDR. I have 2017 Multistrada and a 2023 Husqvarna 701 as well. Live in Carbondale, you rode through my back yard. Great video.

      Hmm 🤔. The Ducati would do just fine I think on 4,5 and 6 but the 701 would be a ripper on section 4. The only section with any degree of technicality. I’m get more and more stoked about my 701 each time I ride it. Just order a new exhaust, power commander, and drive line for it. Went up one tooth in the back. Watch for the video soon.

    Great summation, planning to do 5/6 this summer on my R1250GS as quick excursions from the Denver area as well.

      Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it. I did one section per day but could have easily done all three sections in two days. Just so happened I was meeting up with a friend to do section 5 so it worked out the way it did.

    That OHV section outside of BV is one of my favorite parts of that BDR.

    Great video! Fairly new GS owner, my first Adventure bike, and I feel a lot like you......just love the bike! Big, yes, and not meant for single track stuff, but by far the best overall bike for BDR type riding in my opinion. Sure appreciate all the feedback on the COBDR, gear, etc. I'm gonna make my way up there as soon as I knock out some of my NMBDR down here in New Mexico.
    I'm curious if you use tracks or routes, and why, when navigating the COBDR? And if you have the time, any hints about settings that you've found work best for you, would sure be appreciated!! I've messed around with my Montana 700i and I'll be darn if I can make it work for me like I think it should. Hopefully, I'm not alone in being slow with the Garmin grasping, so maybe a full video is in order.....if you can make that happen soon....cuz I need help now 😖😆

    Thanks for sharing the adventure! That same route on the same bike is on my to-do list as well :). Mind if I ask what seat cover you're running? I put 3k miles on the GSA in August in 8 days and I think I could use something like what you have for some additional ventilation. You like it?

      I have a Saddleman seat for the GS and a Wind Rider seat cover. Honestly the Wind Rider is the best piece of equipment I’ve put on the bike. About $80 for front and rear seat and such a huge difference in comfort

    Really enjoying the ride and your channel. Wish I was closer, be fun to meet up for a ride…as long as you don’t mind the matching bike lol. My wife and I are heading West in couple weeks, taking mostly the TAT…not on the bike unfortunately. Thanks again, safe travels

    So pretty cool I am getting to old for Biking but am going to do the Section 6 North to South looking for areas to PROSPECT So if you see a 4Runner out there Wave going after Labor day Weekend! And as a Farmer its about the Only SLACK TIME I GET ! 2% of the POPULATION FEEDS THE OTHER 98%
    If you WEAR IT EAT IT OR USE IT WE GREW IT

      I think section 6 will be great no matter what form of conveyance you choose. It’s a fantastic area. If there are any areas for prospecting I’d say the middle to northern half of sec 6 is probably best but I can’t really say.

    If you had a choice to do it on a 701 / 690 or a Triumph 900 rally Pro which would you choose and why?

    • @upshiftingadventures4034
      @upshiftingadventures4034  11 місяців тому

      Well I think I’d do those 3 section on the triumph because it’s not technical and you will have a much more comfortable ride. There is very little pavement but there’s lots of long stretches of dirt road. As I mentioned it was easy to do on the 1250 GS so I think I’d choose something a little more cushy but maybe the 701 if I was gonna do the whole thing. Also depends on weather you are camping or hotel stays. If doing a hotel, take the 701.

    What tires are you running on your GS?

    • @upshiftingadventures4034
      @upshiftingadventures4034  Рік тому

      Right now I am running TKC 70’s. I took off the Motoz Tractionaters because I was doing a one day 700 mile highway ride to Flagstaff and wanted a quieter tire for the trip. I’m riding to Virginia and a couple weeks and when that trip is over, I’ll put the MotoZ tires back on.
