There were times, I swear, even his facial expressions indicated it was a little weird for him too. But that is part of the Patton experience. I really think he's compelled to challenge himself constantly, and he will take creative risks. That's part of the reason we listen and watch in envy. Creatively brave.
The thing I like most about Mike Paton is his projection power. Whatever it is he wants you to hear he makes sure you hear it. Hell of a musician and hell of a performer (I've managed to see him perform live with Faith No More and Tomahawk). But yes, he is definitely a different unit for sure! Very enjoyable reaction as always.
God hates a coward is absolutely one of my favorite Mike Patton songs! I can understand that it’s not his most complicated work. However, it has a beat that is definitely powerful. Stays in your head. Not everything has to be have 1 million different layers to it or be on whistle register to be a bada$$ song. Sometimes a simple song can be equally as impressive. Hes definitely one of the most intriguing vocalists I’ve ever heard. I’ve been confused and enamored by Mike since Mr Bungle. He never ceases to amaze me. Not only that, I’m a female baritone. I have a weird af range. When I want to practice by singing along w someone, I can always count on Mike. 😂 play Man literally has a song in any range I want to practice in. I also have a mask similar to the one Mikes wearing in this vid. I wear it, just to be goofy when I sing along with this song. I suppose you’re rating was fair. I agree with what you said. Naturally, I’m gonna give it a 9 because it’s one of my favorite socks… But I appreciate the score you gave him as well.
patton, stanier (drummer from helmet / battles), guitarist from jesus lizard, bassist formerly of the melvins / the cows. tomahawk opened for tool on the lateralus tour. they have four or so albums, the last two having a different line up than the first two.
Good review, was happy you didn't know Patton was the vocalist in this band. It's a strange thing though that with most other vocalists, if you heard them do what Patton does you'd be floored, but because it's Mike it's..meh. Anyway, from Tomahawk try 101 North and Point And Click.
I love Mike for sure, but I also love most of the projects that John Stanier(drummer) is involved with too. He took Australian band, The Mark Of Cain, to another level on their album, This Is This, that he played on.
definitely hear the first few albums, especially the first is by far the best, and the 3rd album is very unique, being an entire album of native american covers
this is a popular song by them but i dont like it as much as everyone else does. i prefer other songs by them ones with mikes deeper vocals. this song is fun and decent for mayybe hearing it once or twice a week tho.. 7 out of 10 for me
As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this I knew you'd give this an average score. I don't think you will like any of Tomahawk's stuff as you clearly have a penchant for more commercial, mtv friendly, lets say hair rock and less so experimental, dark progressive projects. That goes for any other MP projects of which there are plenty. Its ok, its not for everyone and we all have our preferences.
Got a question for you, David. As far as I can see you have never reacted to a MONSTER MAGNET song. Is it one of your favorite bands, so you have heard all of their songs?
No, I actually haven't heard anything from them as far as I know. I just checked the que, and there are currently no official requests for Monster Magnet in the que at this time.
@@THEDavidHeretic You look like you could have played in the band :D You should check them out. The vocals is beyond powerful. They play something as unik as "Space rock"

Absolute powerhouse live indeed

I see Mike in multiple times, Fantomas, Tomahawk,Moonchild, this guy is out of this world, really, thx for video david dude
mike patton has like 30 projects 🥱🥱🥱
And they mostly all rather different to each other

Been waiting for this , another side of Pattons madness 😅

It’s about vocal syncopation to the beat this song unless you missed it. It’s not “interesting” it’s amazing
Love Tomahawk.
I liked it but I'm not sure why! 😆
Maybe the vocal approach with/without mask.

The mask distorts his vocals and makes the effect he wanted to project.
A song sung entirely as build up and expectation. Build it up. Don’t tear it down 🎼
I love FNM, Mr Bungle and Mike Patton but never got into Tomahawk for some reason. Maybe overMIKEsaturated?

Tomahawk is the middle of the road FNM and Bungle.
👌👏✔️

I took my girlfriend on our first date to see Fantomas 😄 , we got married 14 years ago.
Thanks Mike!
Saw these guys open for Tool.
It's basically a supergroup
You need to do Mayday by Tomahawk 🤘live
You really needa do set the world on fire by lovebites!! you wont be dissapointed i promise :)
It’s Duane Denison’s band. The drummer is from helmet and the bass player is from The Cows/The Melvins.
is like between in a "wierdness scale" not a Mr. Bungle... almost Fantomas..
when he puts that mask on he becomes the best evil villain the worlds ever scene.
nice

He starts the song at an 11 and escalates it from there.
Easily 9,6

Good but what's with the mask
It's the sound he wanted
the mask is attached to a different type of microphone as well that helps the sound he wants
