While I am familiar with Rasputins name and face, I never did know much about his life or his role in the death of czar Nikolai and his family. This was very interesting.
I first came to know of Rasputin in childhood, as a cd/record store was named after him, and his face was also part of the storefront - several feet high. This man's face, and his name became recognizable to me long before I had any clue who the man actually was later in my adulthood.
Hmmm. Do they think he had anything to do with the assassination of all of the Czar's family? Did that start the downward spiral of their lives being taken I've always wondered.
Rasputin may have had his certain quirks but nevertheless he was a very important influential person. Regardless, he was the only one who could help the young son.
It's the greasy hair that tops it off for me. I can see this man amongst the royal family, given plenty opportunities to bathe, but each time asked, he'd refuse, probably explaining that it would dilute his spiritual connection with God, this weaken his abilities.
Very poor research and grossly incorrect. For starters, the narrator says Rasputin stayed at a monastery for some years then left and got married and sired 4 children. In fact Rasputin married FIRST at age 18 and had 3 children. He stayed with his family 10 years and left at age 28 to become a Strannik - wandering holy man. During that time he visited many monasteries across Russia. He did not learn about the Khlysty at the monastery. The Khlysty were an illegal, underground group who practiced in people's barns and basements. I didn't finish. Too ridiculous.
There were other things left out as well, such as the evidence that the entire account of his killing was fictional. But this is a 15 minute UA-cam video, not a scholarly account. Legends usually aren't true, but they are usually more fun - that's why they persist.
Just because they didn't like him didn't mean they had to kill him. He was very intuitive, and I believe that's what drew people to him. He most likely sensed something was awry that evening, and he was such a big man. Times were so strange 100 years ago.

It's the greasy hair that tops it off for me. I can see this man amongst the royal family, given plenty opportunities to bathe, but each time asked, he'd refuse, probably explaining that it would dilute his spiritual connection with God, this weaken his abilities.
Very poor research and grossly incorrect. For starters, the narrator says Rasputin stayed at a monastery for some years then left and got married and sired 4 children. In fact Rasputin married FIRST at age 18 and had 3 children. He stayed with his family 10 years and left at age 28 to become a Strannik - wandering holy man. During that time he visited many monasteries across Russia. He did not learn about the Khlysty at the monastery. The Khlysty were an illegal, underground group who practiced in people's barns and basements. I didn't finish. Too ridiculous.

I’m sure your comment is appreciated by all of those who are watching this video for the purpose of writing their doctoral thesis on “Rasputin”.
However, we peasants were amused, and that’s pretty much all that can be fairly expect from UA-cam.
There were other things left out as well, such as the evidence that the entire account of his killing was fictional. But this is a 15 minute UA-cam video, not a scholarly account. Legends usually aren't true, but they are usually more fun - that's why they persist.
Can you do Alexander the Great
Just because they didn't like him didn't mean they had to kill him. He was very intuitive, and I believe that's what drew people to him. He most likely sensed something was awry that evening, and he was such a big man. Times were so strange 100 years ago.
