The camera has really been stepped up across all the Chinese manufacturers this year - Vivo X100 Pro, Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, OnePlus 12 - collaborations with Zeiss, Leica and Hasselblad also paying off in terms of likeable colours.
The only way Samsung or the iPhone pull ahead is through their software being more mature, colours and quality being consistent across its 5 cameras and great microphones, stabilization etc.
At the end of the day, it is about whether you want a phone which is 8/10 at everything, or a phone which is a 9/10 in most camera features, but sometimes a 6 or 7/10 in certain hardware or processing.
No amount of software magic can help them beat the chinese brands. Put the still photos side by side and it is very obvious the artificial processing done by Samsung, Apple, and Google, like disgusting oversharpening effect all over the place, noisy pictures, and very HDR-ry look
@@lokrj I agree when talking about details, but photos are more than detail. Colour accuracy, skin tones, consistency across lenses - every test I've seen online has one or two cameras or situations where the results fluctuate wildly for the 4 Chinese phones.
Detail wise, yes - the Western flagships are soundly beaten.
Samsung and iPhone don't pull ahead lol. Samsung lost many comparisons to something like OnePlus 12 on twitter
But that ain't true, cause even before Xiaomi 14 ultra arrival the Vivo x100 Pro, Oppo X7 Ultra was the best around,
So i don't know which online sites you're talking about here...@@And_Sun_Yk
Certainly these Chinese smartphones have excellent specifications, I personally would like an Oppo and the Vivo looks spectacular, but at the same time for those prices one can get a dedicated camera, which is what I am doing, I got a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus, and the difference will go to invest in a small camera with an aps-c sensor at least.
Give Xiaomi their flowers. They've done a fantastic job.
Not with those ads in the system apps
@@Hasan-ld4cnnot so many and you can turn them off
@@Hasan-ld4cn bruh while setting up mobile for the first time just turn that off and it comes turned off already, mrwhosetheboss was using chinese varient model that's why he got ads and he didn't even mentioned that he is using chinese varient what a cringe that video was
Are you Tanzanian? 😊
@@zachrome91 no i pet tanzanian
For the many of you who watched Arun's review, understand that he yet again reviewed the Chinese model, which he's also done with the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, and afterwards never even stated or ever mentioned the core quality differences between the Chinese and the global model of the same device. Of course the Chinese models are gonna have ads, since they essentially have a different meaning in China, and they on top of that start at 450€. I wish Arun would simply wait for the global models of each instead of giving us the misleading first impressions like he always does.
yeah, i don't even take his reviews seriously, in the video with 13 ultra he said variable aparature was a gimmick, THIS WAS COMING FROM A PROFESSIONAL VIDEOGRAPHER, how the f he doesn't know how much beneficial this is for photos (greater depth of field) and daylight video (makes it cinematic and removes choppiness)
@@wearefromserbia9714 I'm now using the Magic 6 Pro and the f/1.4 aperture absolutely makes a notable difference, especially when using longer exposures. Certainly not a gimmick and shouldn't be treated as one.
He knows exactly what he's doing & misleads on purpose.
His 14 Ultra video is so goddamn biased, why did he give more points to the S24U while only giving the 14 Ultra just two?
The problem is Xiaomi didn't give him a review model this year, Xiaomi made all reviewers buy a unit themselves and they're not happy
Literally a camera phone
Literally camera has phone
There were literally camera phones in the past, like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, with crazy 10x optical zoom way many years before these 5x phones, not to mention the Galaxy Camera, which was a digital camera with 3G capabilities, with 21x optical zoom. This looks a bit like a camera with the handle, but without an actual lens, not that much.
@@_gelonI'm sure they could have more optical zoom if they made a bigger bump like those "zoom camera" phones . Problem is that not enough people these days are willing enough to have a big bump; even the current one on Xiaomi is "too heavy and big" but people still want huge sensors and dslr quality with flat back phones...
@@selman044Nope, a camera that can make calls

I hope you guys switch the outdoor scenes a bit when doing camera reviews.. Keep up the good work !
Watching this on 14 Ultra! Agree with your camera review, great video guys!
Do u have the Chinese or Global version? How is the battery life?
@@wouter.d.h. Chinese. Battery life very good, about 1.5 days per charge. 90W charger is insanely fast, from 10% to 100% in under 30 min.
Ben said it's not bad but definitely not great @@wouter.d.h.

Whats up with those people who comment that they are watching the review of their phone ? Are you proud of this achievement or something?
Ive never seen this good of a photos shot from a phone
Improved software, improved design, and improved camera. This is a great phone compared to the previous 13 Ultra. It ain't perfect, but it's pretty good coming from Xiaomi.
My problem the 13 ultra is the software and the biggest problem is the selfie it sucks on the 13 ultra. They finally fixed it in the 14 ultra
@bryantwilson4731 selfie still needs a lot of work. 4k it is sure, but the quality looks like upscaled full HD
@@bryantwilson4731don't know about the selfie but hyperos is a step towards right direction from xiaomi
Watching on my Xiaomi 14! It is superb!
Oh, the Lumia 1020 days...❤
excellent review
When does it heat? During normal day to day usage also will it heat?
Nice photos from Bulgaria, ❤
there's no ad in my 250 dollar redmi note 12 pro with hyperos, so if you're talking about the ads or anything about the hyperos you should use it first , and if you already watch the mrwhosetheboss video ,
In that video. The phone which arun using in that video is most likely the Chinese variant, and people in china are less sensitive to ads ,
In india and the global market there's no ad in any xiaomi flagship ..
Only drawback of this phone while comparing it to any top tier smartphone is , selfie camera performance and heating that's all !
Pther than it's the best smartphone ,, and yeah photos ar slightly better on vivo x100pro as of now , cause xiaomi didn't get any updates till date !
Haven't you disabled the 'Show ads' option in different system apps like 'Wallpaper' app which are non-uninstallable in the Redmi phone? That option is present in all MI phones, whether they are Redmi, Poco or premium 'Xiaomi' phones. Why would there be such an option in the first place? As if some people want ads in their phone
@@jobincleetus007 after the HyperOS update the glance for me or the wallpaper app which you are mentioning above is off by default !
You have to manually turn it on to get ads . So don't worry there's no ad !
@@gamingwithsayan6232 Why the 'Getapps' & 'Security' apps non-uninstallable? Any idea?
Why would there be an option called 'recieve recommendations' in any of the non-uninstallable system apps in premium apps?
@@jobincleetus007the two apps are core features. GetApps allow Xiaomi to update system apps without needing to update the whole ROM and Security is, well, to protect you.
Lastly, ads are not always enemies. Maybe neither you nor me, but there are people clicking those ads because the recommendation fits what they're looking for.

What's the music in the beginning of the video? 😮
I want to buy a mobile phone and what kind of mobile phone do you advise me to buy regardless of price.
I have the Mi Max 3 still going strong...thank you Xiaomi for amazing phones!
6:21 Do you understand that Asphalt series is one of the lightest android game ever made? Irrespective of its graphics the game is superlight and very much optimised.
Hence Gsmarena is high time to try out some demanding games like Genshin impact and Warzone mobile cuz we are bored seeing same style of reviews even though your reviews are good
My one of the most fav tech channel on UA-cam ❤❤
Which one do you choose, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra or Samsung S24 Ultra in the exclusive cameras section?
You missed the small aperture that give photos starry look on light objects
The new OnePlus nord CE4 is out , would be nice if there was a comparison with the 12r and the Nord 3
do you have a Xiaomi 14 Pro Review?
Overheating problem?
Can anyone tell me what is the material on that camera module? Does it also use shield glass+ sapphire?
I'd like to know too ! Many reviewers seem to forget this important factor.
Love my phone. Ive got it last week. The camera is crazy.
Hi man i recently got mine but after a week my Xiaomi 14 ultra does a noise inside the camera like a (loose lens) or stabilisator i dont know how to describe it. I can feel It if i shake my phone slowly. I wanted to ask if It happends to you to?

this is a CAMERA phone ❤
I really want to buy this phone, but I'm put off by all the reports of the camera lens fogging up if it's a certain temperature outside.
And also the selfie camera not looking very promising… I’m more leaned to the Honor Magic Pro 6 because the telephoto has a really big sensor, tho I’m a bit sceptical about the focal length… only 68mm or something similar
Yes, but there's a fix already: open the SIM tray until the condensation goes away.

@@makeaguitarnoise well if that one little thing really puts you off then maybe you don't really deserve every other big things it has. be happy with your fogless entry level camera phone.

Gsmarena forever has been the most consistent & neutral reviewer ever!.. Big fan guys ❤
This ain't a true review by any means, this an "overview".....
There's so much you didn't cover about this beast phone but i expected as much.....
They used to do more in depth reviews but for one reason or another they've really shortened them down to the most simplistic form. Idk why 🤷
Please review the Oppo Find X7 Ultra, it's a really great camera-phone.
Agreed, after all the latest updates I think it's actually the best camera phone available atm (possibly the vivo 100 ultra will beat it)
@@davidbezzant9820 I don't really have high expectations for Vivo since they got some massive problems with color cast and colors but I like the macro- and night-shots, but the reds tempt to look a bit oversaturated not my taste and it doesn't really recognise skin-tones properly it makes you look like a ghost (most Chinese phones struggle with that).
@@davidbezzant9820It's not the best in some areas as it trades certain abilities. But definitely an option considering I've been happy with an oppo for the last 3 or so years.
This device finally killed my iPhone since the 15 pro max was a disappointment.
Just love it.
Legendary phone 📱
Why do your graphics say it has a 12.5 MP camera on all of your photo examples? I'm pretty sure all of the rear cameras are 50MP.
It’s binned down to 12.5 unless you shoot in raw
@@davidrzmv3052 ah, ok. thanks
That's a lot of phone and more!
Nothing on moving/sports scenes? Is it because the cams cannot handle it or is it because the reviewer cannot walk outside and shoot some?
The bigger is camera the better it's performance and more professional quality photos/videos will be. I'a willing to accept bigger camera bumps.
Game changer could be introduction of quantum dot and graphene enchanced CMOS sensor with metalens which could make cameras very compact without quality sacrifice.
s24 ultra or this?

@@ozoh8285there are some things that software updates cannot fix.
At least maybe the purple and green tint issue could be somewhat remedied.
There are no real differences between them unless you take raw photos (or raw videos using motioncam)
It's a beautiful design, and probably takes exceptional photos.
But the 13 Ultra refused to work correctly here in the UK thanks to its weird modem quirks, and ruined for me what could have been a perfect handset. Hopefully that's been sorted out now, but I'm not risking the asking price to find out.
My 13 Ultra worked perfectly. Did you have global hardware and not just the ROM?
There seem a problem with the lens get misty....
Hey man, from what I've seen so far that's only a temporary problem on the Xiaomi 14, it's only when taken in different temperature settings abruptly, like from indoors to outdoors and only a couple of times until it smooths put
why all the sample images are in 12.5MP ? is the phone has not 50MP ? or what !! i dont understand can you please say any one..
4-in-1 pixel binning, it's been so since 2019 in the smartphone world. You can get the 50MP, but 12.5MP essentially has higher per pixel quality due to 4x bigger pixel size.
@@leledumbo thanks to reply. Then what we do can expect like this setup of lenses?about of pictures
@@srikumaran7790 Depends on what you want to achieve. If you really want that 50MP badly then just go to Pro mode and enable the 50MP output. In most needs, however, 50MP is overkill. Not only its size is gigantic (9-10MB per file), but you also get lower overall quality, with a trade off of higher detail when cropping. You really need a good lighting condition to use this mode: no backlight, no low light.
The phone supports 8K30 video recording with all of the rear lenses.
AFAIK only the main
It msybe the best cameraphone in the moment but it will get hard competion when Sony launch the Xperia Pro-II in the autom if rumors turn out to be thru .
You should look up the Nits rate before posting... The maximim is almost 3x as high. 😉
Nah, GSM Arena uses specialised instruments to test the NITs level. Manufacturer claimed NITs ratings are always overblown by 2-3 times the actual amount & are not achievable in real world usage. GSM Arena's claims are accurate.
what is the caveat?
14U still needs some updates to solve the problems with the cameras it still has, so I'll wait a few months

The design is very much like the ye old Samsung camera phone
When xiaomi will pay attention to selfie camera???
This is the best they have so far. 14 series is the first one to have 4K@60fps video recording. Despite not as good as the rear, everything is much better than previous generations.

Overall, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a refresh of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
4k 60 fps in video.
You are only doing 30fps. Why?
That's how this channel renders its videos. Other channels might even render in 24fps to get cinematic look.
4k30 gives you lower amounts of perceived motion blur (more favorable shutter angle)
Better then Vivo?
Price/Value, OP12 is absolutely unbeatable this year. In the Aliexpress Anniversary 12/256 was ~530€ and 16/512 was ~580€. Chinese version with Oxygen preinstalled, barely any limitation over the EU/GL firmware. I mean..
What's crazier from Xiaomi is that their highend phone has the same interface and bloatware like their lowend. Look at the video and music app? Who still uses video app to watch video while we have netflix and youtube these days. Not to mention the ads. It would be nice if they can offer clean, almost like aosp os just like what oneplus/nothing phone did
Change the launcher and install your own apps. Nobody is forced to use the default ones.
@@EdwinChenLoo not everyone are tech savvy. Some people may think they pay almost a thousand dollars for a smartphone full of bloat ware and ads, then someone like you told them to use a custom rom. What a good idea
@@aliaulman I did not say custom roms and now you menion that to discredit the fact. Laptops come with Edge and many install Chrome, they don't just don't buy the laptop because it doesn't have Chrome. People who don't know how to install apps typically stick to iPhones. I'm just pointing out that if one doesn't like their launcher, a new one to make it look like any other phone he/she prefers (i.e. Pixel, iPhone, Samsung, etc) can be installed. Manufacturers develop their launchers to differentiate themselves and third party developers also offer them but there is always something in them somebody is not going to like or something like prefer. The beauty is there are plenty of options out there which can be installed. I could make a case that if one is buying a $1,000 phone, one is tech savvy enough to install apps.
Photography without human subject 😂😂
Video is up to 8k not 4k I think.
S24 Ultra vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs 15 pro max vs Oppo Find x7 Ultra
You barely moved when panning video. I am suspicious.
Nice, but what about Nubia z60 ultra review?
This is for spec-chasing camera enthusiasts as the rest of the package doesn't match the best in the West, the S24U and the iPhone 15PM. The camera hardware is top-notch, but the software still trails, and the non-optimisation means mediocre battery life when using the camera. This might not matter if the price was not as high, but it is; therefore, the 14 Ultra is easy to pass. I will not import due to losing my consumer rights (including a two-year warranty).
The Honor Magic 6 Ultra, with a £250 pre-order deal, so £450 less than the 14 Ultra that has a UK version, is a far more sensible choice with better battery life and optimisations.
What keeps this phone from being great is the throttling issues, design (camera bump is way too big), feel (phone feels too top heavy), and the ads.

You say this without owning it?
@@ttube786 Those statements are true regardless of whether one owns it or not.
@@phothewin6019None of which are true. I own it and dont understand what you are talking about. Came from an S24 ultra and an iPhone pro max 15 previously.
@makdrumz Except those are all true. Phone throttles during prolonged periods of Genshin. The camera bump is massive and arguably the biggest among current flagships. And it does cause the phone to have unbalanced weight. And it literally does have ads in its software/UI. Those are true regardless of what other phones you came from.
@@phothewin6019 You dont know what you are talking about mate. Balance is great, there is no bloatware or ads and the throttling is the exact same (if not slightly better) than my s24 ultra and pro max 15. Stop talking about things you have not experienced. You are objectively wrong.

@@njamutohbertrand9318It depends on if you want the camera in an all in one device. That's what you get with phones. But of course some of the budget is going into the screen and computer etc. A dedicated camera is a platform to get better photos. But then you still need to buy lenses to do all the stuff that this phone can do. People seem to forget that when you buy $1500 of phone, it's not all camera despite the heavy focus on it ;)

People buy these expensive phones for vanity? don't get me wrong, the specifications and the rendering is a technological marvel, but the reviewer is using it in auto in the same way the customers will use it in auto, with probably no printing but just watching the photos in small screens. It seems that the most committed group of users using their advanced smartphones as photographic tools are iPhone users, judging by the winners of mobile photography contests.
Might be due to workflow or consistency. You'd think this X14u would be great for manual photography with the most similar sensors and great macro/zoom choices
Xiaomi often holds short film contests for their phones, not only flagships, feel free to search for those movies
Any phone that doesnt come with a protector case,in built screen protector and charger should be toss into the dustbin nowadays. Aka Samsung and Apple.
