Surprisingly you can add beans to smoothies to add protein and to help make it creamy. Start with 1/4 cup cooked and work your way up. I don't even notice them.

Sweet Staci, such a great video!! Love that bump! You are especially beautiful when you are expecting!! Praying for a wonderful, fast labor and less pain than you usually have. Start some “laborade” with a big strong batch of red raspberry leaf tea. Thank you for all the awesome meal prep ideas! Loved seeing your little helper in the kitchen 😊 This year I want to do this prep regularly because I hate scrambling to figure a meal when everyone is whining of hunger. It's so easy it's funny! Take dry beans and throw in crock pot, fill with water and add lid and walk away....when beans are soft and cooked, salt and season. As beans cook they create a broth, great over a bowl of rice, lime rice, or Spanish rice.

Simply Mama Cooks has an amazing Charro beans recipe that works wonderfully in the slow cooker or pressure cooker depending on what your needs are), hot or cold bean dips too. as Indians, we use legumes and beans all the time as curry side dishes for roti(kind of tortillas) or eat with hot white rice... it also makes good beans filling-- burrito style using taco seasoning etc...can make bean soup like Minestrone...makes excellent bean patties( I mix chopped veggies and cooked rice in the patties filling as well) for burgers or crisp toast the patties on cast iron and eat as snack as is...side of relish or ketchup is good
it is excellent source of protein and soaking the beans overnight and cooking them in Instant pot until soft and mushy...is good for gut health...

We use them in chilli’s, we cook them with rice (Jamaican rice and peas) and our favorite dish Jamaican stew peas. The above mentioned dishes use kidney beans or black beans. My 2024 goal is to make more meals from scratch. My husband likes the JD Breakfast bowls, instead of spending almost $4 per bowl I have started making these bowls from scratch. Potatoes, eggs, sausage/bacon or? with a little shredded cheddar cheese on top the, throw them in the freezer when you're ready take them out and pop it in the microwave, it is just as good or better than what you buy already made and so much healthier without preservatives...And a fraction of the cost!!

We have learned that if he eats beans every evening his blood sugar stays stable throughout the night. This is CRITICAL. So every evening he eats some kind of bean dish - soup, salad, dip, tacos, whatever. Having home canned beans on hand has been a no brained and is so easy to do, also things like split pea soup or sausage and beans has really been helpful. Use up those beans, so good for you!
