This race was a memorable one for me. I was there out of turn 2. I turned 24 that weekend. The only time in person I saw him win. What a birthday present that was. Should have won the championship that year.
Mickey Burrows I remember this. Brad thinks he’s on Jeff’s level just because he got lucky and won a championship in 2012. Jeff showed that little punk how it’s done. Jeff was the king of the long run
@Brett Barker I recall him missing a couple of wrecks which I thought was lucky. Specially when an announcer said by him missing that wreck it could help him win a championship.
2014 Was Gordons year... Gordon had the Texas race won but of course Bowyer wrecked and Brad decides to just ram into Gordon on the restart. I guarentee Gordon would of won the championship, he had by FAR the car to beat at Homestead, he only didn't win because they got messed up on late race pit cycles. Sports weren't very forgiving as 2 months later my Packers blew the NFC Championship away to the seahawks :( I couldn't choose what hurt more...
Bowyer hardly wrecked, it was never caution worthy it was total NASCAR bullshit being in love with their GWC finishes. Homestead, they should have pitted on an earlier caution and then stayed out till the end, I was so confused by Alan that day. Just wasn't meant to be.
I was there! I went on a Northeast motorcycle trip on my Suzuki DR650. I got on Advrider and created a thread to let folks know my route. A guy from PA offered to meet me at Dover! He had an extra ticket. Beautiful weekend. Plenty of corn around the track. He took command late in the race. I think I was in the middle of turns 1 and 2.
It's still his year regardless; he performed the best all year compared to anyone else. In fact his stats in 2014 are eerily identical to Dale Earnhardt's championship performance in 1991.
If he had the damn speed in 2015, he would have easily taken Homestead and the Championship. He was so psyched and focused for that race. Just didn't have the car...
Nathan Wygal Yeah, they had some rule changes with the cars during that off season that really didn’t suit Jeff’s driving style. The racing was good in 2014 I though. If I remember right in 2014 the speeds were up, so corner control became more important. In 2015 they slowed the cars down a little. Might be wrong, but I remember it being something like that.
I think in 2015 if he would have had a bit more speed, that he probably would have won the race and the championship. Unfortunately, Busch and Harvick were too tough to beat that day. The #18 was a very fast race car that day, even Harvick couldn't catch him.
Stats say he did and that's all that matters, I mean the Chase would have you believe Jeff had a better performance in 2015 than in 2014?! We all know that's bogus
Last race win that I was in the stands for (Turn 1). Had to watch Martinsville on TV. Only one of my three kids decided to go that day. Any time it comes up, he gets to gloat while the other two eat their hearts out. Lol!
miles the monster might be Ella's favorite trophy but I bet when Ella got her picture taken with Danica Patrick at Daytona when Danica won the pole for the 500 that year and her dad was starting next to her might come in a close second.
Jeff was one of the unluckiest drivers. Even when you watch their 95-98 seasons, they could have easily won more races, and 96 should have won that one too.
Spotter got that right. He had a lot of patience. A lot more than almost any other driver would have had. I know that most of them would have wrecked Brad or at least pushed him out of the way. I'm not too sure the bump and run works at Dover though. They don't call it the Monster Mile for nothing.
bump and run doesn't work at dover, if you bump you will probably wreck. I usually see the bump n run at Bristol. Although with the resurfacing and change to the banking to make the racing better, I would say that the bump and run is not as effective anymore.

He's a 7 time champion to me
These chase races just remind me how Gordon was basically robbed out of 2 or 3 more championships.
Yup, the main reason I don't watch NASCAR anymore. Except for youtube of Gordon.
bruh
Yep and that's why they did that was to keep him from getting past 7 because he would have had eight or nine champion
Bet yet Jimmie Johnson denied all that with tying the record
@@ADCC-qp2gkwho?
I remember when jeff passed brad and brad said give me four tires and I'll catch him.... yep that didn't happen lol GO JEFF!!!!!

@Brett Barker agreed. I just thought Brad had a little luck on his side in 2012.
@Brett Barker nope he’s a lucky bum
The 2014 Brickyard 400 I attended was the best one, imo.
I loved Jeff Gordon! I wish he can race again.😔

Gemini Man and you know his pit strategy would have been a little different at Homestead. If he had been in contention for the championship.
Remember how good he was in Phoenix

The crazy thing is, he could've won at least 3-4 more races that year.. When Jeff was dialed in...... Have mercy

Alan bestwick is a great commentator
I miss Jeff Gordon. Hes the GOAT in my opinion.
it was his year if it wasn't for brad

Julian Rangel unfortunate that Jeff was caught in the middle of Brian monkeying with the points system. Robbed Jeff of at least 2 more titles.
3
@@christenn32 more like Jeff got robbed from winning 3 more championships. 04,07,014
Im a mega gordon fan but that was just his spotter’s fault
Jeff Gordon, King Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, 7 time champions.
Yep. Got robbed in 2005, 2007, and 2014
you mean 2004, 2007 and 2014

I miss this guy! The sport just is not the same. I wish he would have stuck around until he had taken over second on the all time wins list.😞😞
Man I thought I went to his last win until Martinsville next season lol
The lost year for JG24...this one and '07 I think it was.
2:46 yea full season points he did
If it was the same format he would’ve won the championship that year too
Hands down the absolute best year as far as the racing went in a long long time and what do the officials do immediately change the package
I got this diecast car. Awesome paint scheme

I was live at the track when Jeff Gordon won at Dover 400 AAA in 2014 I will not for get that day

5 time champion Jeff Gordon y'all 😊
2014 is a missing ring for jeff Gordon wand 2015
it's miles the monster!
Ella's favorite trophy, lol
Edit a little less aggressively, it makes for a more watchable video..
Too late, lol, I cut out all of the non-JG related stuff, it's just my style.
Hey let us not forget Newman cheated at phoenix to get in the chase couldn't beat Larson straight up had to hit him FML
Newman didn’t cheat he did what he had to so he could make it to the final 4
7-time Champ!
