With Chase Elliott winning, there were 2 spots left to fill, Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski batting for those 2 spots. Brad had to overcome a speeding penalty. Denny Hamlin had to hold off Erik Jones, Kevin Harvick had to tie with Keselowski in the cut line (Harvick would’ve got the tiebreaker since he had 9 wins) Ment he had to pass 1 car, Kyle Busch, on the final lap. In a desperate attempt, he took out the 18, but wrecked himself.
I wouldn't exactly say Denny was "holding off" Jones. Erik was mighty kind to his teammate that night
9 wins wouldnt have gotten Harvick the tiebreaker it was his 2nd place finish at Kansas highest in that particular round that would have advanced him
Elliott got vengeance from 2017 and 2019
And 2018, because of Logano. Logano winning was mostly the reason Elliott didn’t advance in that year.
Truex was on cloud 9 till that tire vibration

The irony of Logano saying that enough is enough. There's more than a handful of drivers that say the same thing about him. I mean, come on, if you've pissed off Chase Elliott you are obviously no angel when it comes to racing others.
I love/hate these most wins situations, my driver didn't made it but that was amazing to watch. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

This is the problem I continue to have with The Chase concept. You can dominate all season long and have one bad race, you're out. Or you can have a season like Newman had a few years back, never win a race, and end up in the Final 4. How does that make sense?
This format is weird, but it’s like other sports. You can have an undefeated season in football and be out the first game of the playoffs.
To be fair, this happened to Bill Elliott back in 1985. He won an incredible 11 races but came second in the championship. The champion, Darrell Waltrip, won 3 races. Not to mention Benny Parsons or Matt Kenseth with only a single win giving them the championship. And these were all with the original points formats. I have reservations about the playoffs but this race isn’t one of them
Some of you nascar fans need to relax with the playoff format. It’s like a 1 or 2 seed in the NFL losing in the 2nd round. Just enjoy it. Y’all should be tired of the constant changes nascar tries to make because fans complain about something. Keep things the same so new people that get into the sport aren’t always so confused.
its because nascar only wants the top tier teams in the playoffs they dont want a ryan newman or alex bowman or anyone like that in the playoffs they want more fords and toyota's in it its clear as day how can a 7 time champion go from running up front every week and fighting for wins end up finishing his career with bullshit finishes and and you have a piece of shit like kevin harvick and denny hamlin win 15+ races between the 2 of them i call bullshit nascar has turned into nothing more than a dictactor sport

There is something fundamentally wrong with a scoring system that eliminates a driver that won nearly a third of the regular season races imo . I know the playoffs are a whole new race, but still
How is it any different from an undefeated football team losing in the first or second round of the playoffs and not making it into the championship game?
@@jaywalkr07 the scoring is done on a points system rather than a sudden death system. That is kinda how I view it, but I was married, so I know I am wrong a lot.
@@sidforbrains6552 I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m honestly not even completely sure how the nascar system works. I was just kind of relating it to what the announcers were saying about the undefeated patriots and crazy upsets like that.

They're out there to compete with and against each other, I don't care if they're teammates or not, the situation with Hamlin and Jones kept Harvick out of the Championship. Jones was clearly faster. He's gone next year anyway, I'd just have said FU and done it.

You heard what he said, these current championships aren't the same as when Richard, Dale & Jeff were winning theirs. Those were season long earned titles, now it's every three weeks. A driver can literally win every race leading to the finale in Phoenix & lose the title anyways...

@@UnfinishedBread That is absolutely what it doe's. NASCAR has it now where the top 16 drivers I think it is are entered into the playoffs after race 26. Which means you can be in 16th place in points with no wins & barely any top 5 runs & challenge for the title with a driver like Harvick that season who won a boatload of races & was clearly the driver to beat all season. Byron probably should be last years champion but because of the playoff format, Blaney was able to come through instead. I don't like it, I feel like it should be most points earned like how it is in IndyCar, Formula 1 & NHRA but enough fans complained about boring racing down the stretch which is what ultimately caused NASCAR to take this course of action...

Kevin harvick out of the playoffs after winning 9 races!!!! The tie between Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick is still 5 championship 4 appearances because both of them were unable to make it to the championship 4. Also Martin Truex Jr is eliminated for the playoffs two surprising drivers eliminated from round of 8
An Elliott has advanced to the Championship 4 and a Chevrolet will dominate Phoenix and a 🏆

The announcer said that chase has never won a title well that is wrong he won in 2014 for Dale Jr the championship.

The finish here reminded me of 2014. Came down to 1 point and was deeply upset because that was Gordon's year and should have been in the final 4. Here in 2020, Harvick probably could have been in the final 4 if he just sent it in there in turn 3. There goes to show you how fucked up the playoff format is.
