No way you cut out the beginning of the flashback fight scene between Evy and Anck su namun!! 😆 That’s the best part of the movie with the greatest set design ever! Other than that great reaction and I love your chuckles at the Arabic lines. 😆 must be cool to actually understand what they say instead of reading subtitles. "I hope he's not annoying in his film" Oh he is--but to the villains in the best possible way. The Scorpion King in the final scene was bad even back then. I remember how we shouted in disappointment when he appeared. It was not well-received. It's a great sequel that's just a ton of fun. I don't like it better than The Mummy, but I do love it. I don't recommend the 3rd movie. The get a new Evie, which completely wrecked that for me.
More Brendan Fraser please, the man deserves it! I'd love to see your reaction to Bedazzled, Brendan is just hilarious in that one. 😁 I love both Mummy movies, grew up with them and still enjoying the story and the action. I saw the third movie maybe twice, it has its moments but recasting Evy just destroys the whole character chemistry for me. 😅
Was glad to see Brendan Fraser in an action role like this. The actor has some very serious roles under his belt so it's nice to see him as the occasional Indiana Jones-type protagonist. He's really good in the film; 'Gods and Monsters' from 1998 w/ Ian McKellen. A deep and layered movie if you get a chance to watch it, just not sure it's a good reaction movie unfortunately due to it's storyline. 'School Ties' from 1992 is another great movie Brendan starred in that gets overlooked in his film career.
I couldn't give you any numbers without looking them up myself, but IIRC this was a pretty high budget film back in the day. And of course the cgi & the practical effects were products of their time. Back jn the early 2000's cgi was still fairly prohibitively expensive (especially if you wanted it done well), so there was still a fair bit of practical effects where it was feasible. The scorpion king & the anubis warriors though were probably a little too ambitious for their time. By the standard of the day they were certainly not great cgi, but not as bad as they could have been. I think it's partly that the cgi was rushed, and partly that the scenes featuring the cgi were not able to hide any of the imperfections. (A lot of cgi from back in the day is pretty ropey, but hidden by lighting or shot choices so that you don't notice it.) I don't think the scorpion king could really have been done by practical effects though, not if they wanted him to move like that. Speaking of the scorpion king; the film you mentioned is a prequel to the mummy franchise. Iirc it was released just a couple of years after this. Also on the subject of other films; the third mummy film... tomb of the dragon emperor. It's worth a watch, but temper your expectations because it is not as good as the first two.

One of those movies where I like the sequel even a little bit more than the first movie.
