    Proudly I just took delivery on my new CMX 1100 DCT and loving it! As an older rider with a new found left side disability, this bike is perfect! My Hayabusa days are behind me, but this bike has some pep in sport mode! Swapped out the seat and shotgun exhaust and now this bike is amazing! Maybe this bike isn’t your cup of tea! 👍

    The dct is set up to save fuel so if you want the lower gears and burn more fuel for fun use the paddles for me as a retiree I need my money to buy more toys not make more noise. When it is correctly run in be aware the dct can change quicker in sport mode holding gears longer and will surprise you, do not forget it redlines at 8000 rpm and is built for relaxed cruising not racing R1's off the lights.

    Good review, thank you. DCT is not for you and I get that but you are really missing the point of a DCT. It’s not selling to the norm. 90% of riders of the DCT version seem to love it. Too each his own I guess

    if you remember you are riding a DCT and stop worrying about the gear, just feel the bike. It doesn't lug as most other bikes would. You have power regardless. Just traded my Road Glide for one last week and yes, for 30 years of bikes, I would be in a lower gear. But you don't have to be with the DCT. Guess what, just like an automatic car. You never get in a car and say, well if I had a manual, I would be in whatever other lower gear. You just drive it. Same thing. Just drive it and not worry about the gear. If you throttle it, it will downshift 1-2 gears automatically. It is a blast to ride

  • @jonathanheavner7040
    @jonathanheavner7040 Рік тому +3

    6:05 You can drop the gear down when you need power, using the paddles. Even when you are in automatic
    The shifting is optimized to keep the rpm’s low on purpose, for better fuel economy. Stop worrying about it shifting early and just ride it. No need to be fixated on what gear it’s in, because it does not matter. Do you care about what gear your automatic sedan or truck is in when you drive? Next time put a sticker over the gear indicator and enjoy the ride.

    Been really looking at this bike as my first bike. I 100% want a Rebel as i love the looks of it and i know honda makes a good bike. Im want to be a conservative rider as i really just want to cruise around in the summer up here in New England. The DCT is a go to for me as it give me the ability to get in and go as well as shifting easily if i want to. The different modes are great to so i can ease into the 1100 power. Thanks for the review you and me seem like we are different type of riders and that definitely reassured that this model could be awesome for me.

      I ride with the owner of this motorcycle he loves it and it works perfect for what he wants. We have our debates on why you NEED a clutch. The DCT has its place and there is nothing wrong with it. Glad you think it will work for you. It is a very fun motorcycle. It likes to be ridden like a sport bike (higher RPM) more then a cruiser in my opinion but good motorcycle either way.

      I went through all the different modes but in standard mode I feel it’s too conservative. But you can put it in learning mode and it will change shift points based on your riding style. That definitely helps. I had the most fun in sport mode with the trigger shifters. I liked the bike. It’s fun, just not for me, I enjoy a manual. But it has its market. If I were older or even had some wrist or hard problems this would be a great option. Very fun bike.

    • @wadeonwheels
      @wadeonwheels  2 роки тому

      For new riders it is nice. Just be sure to practice low speed maneuvers. It’s harder to do with a DCT because no friction zone and clutch control. Its all break and throttle, that can be dangerous, but with practice you’ll be fine.

      @@wadeonwheels Damn you were not kidding!!! I was going to a course to practice. I crashed at a low speed on the way. I was making a turn in my neighborhood took it a little fast, and went to put on the break and I had my hand too far up that I hit the throttle and brake at the same time. I completely forgot about my brake pedal and crashed into a curb and into the grass. And of course, I don't have crash bars yet. I got bruises, sprained my little finger, and twisted my lower back, but my helmet worked great and so did my leather jacket. I also broke my brake lever in half and my neighbor who's been riding bikes for almost 2 decades bent my foot brake back into place. He rode and said it feels great. He was really surprised this is my first bike because he said it's a lot of bike and then called it a crotch rocket...lol I had it in standard too!!

      @@rustyscrib6071 oh man sorry to hear that! Glad your ok.
      So the guy who owns the bike I rode in this video I ride with often and there was been a time or two where he accidentally accelerates, luckily it’s always been on a straight rode. One time we pulled up to a light and I rev’d my engine and he thought he could and launched forward almost into the intersection. Because he didn’t switch it to neutral.
      Personally I understand the want for a automatic motorcycle but when it comes to how you ride and what riding is, I don’t feel they are safe. Definitely with somthing that was power and was made to rip. The the rebel 1100 is. I mean its a fast and powerful bike.
      In certain circumstances sure like on a Honda Goldwing or something that is a long cruiser or maybe a small bike and scooters I get when it comes to a motorcycle that actually has power you need that clutch to control that power. Just my personal opinion.
      I’m glad your ok !

      @@wadeonwheels knowing what I've experienced i completely agree with you. This bike has so much power. The throttle is so twitchy, you barely move and its going fast than you intend. I would have been using the clutch on that small turn and worse case it would've stalled. I'm bummed...I spent 13500 on this and now I want a manual...I will.say, I was good on open streets, but turns on small tight roads is going to take awhile. I just hope I never do that at an intersection. I wish I could tighten the throttle.
      Thanks for telling me about your buddy. I was thinking this might just be me having this issue. Glad he didn't go into the intersection and he's okay.

    I’ve had my eyes on the Honda Rebel DCT 1100 for a minute now. But I am a little skeptical about the ergonomics. I am 6 ft 1 and I feel like it will be a little small for me. I currently own a 1977 Honda CB750A (automatic) and it is a blast but getting parts for a vintage bike is a challenge. Maybe the Honda Goldwing may be more of a fit for me. I do want a touring motorcycle so I’ll keep searching.

    Well , what will you do when all transportation has to be total electric

    • @wadeonwheels
      @wadeonwheels  2 роки тому +1

      That will never happen. Our ignorance in battery technology amazes me. You will never be able to go touring or cross the country on a motorcycle or any vehicle again. That’s just not a viable option. Untill we have batteries that can have a range even close to a combustion engine. Then the entire idea is just a utopian dream.

      Tim Degeare yeah to that point I totally understand what you mean. But I just mean with what we have now it’s just more of a political dream then feasible as far as batteries go. The other down side to eclectic vehicles is the weight. For short range transport sure electric makes sense but in practical applications has to many drawbacks as of the technology available. In 10-20 years that could change. But the culture around combustion engines I believe is to big for it to ever go away. Electric vehicles may end up having a place in our society but I don’t ever believe combustion engines won’t be around.

    All reviews never mention the motorcycle heating in heavy traffic…..that why u don’t see people riding sports bike in Newyork or major city with stop and go traffic…the bikes would burn itself up….. feel bad for those who buy big engines to look cool in their commutes just to realize they can’t ride in the city, summer and heavy traffic area day in day out….That said here is the question;: does this bike heat up in stop and go city ride in the heat of south east Asia…. Meaning 2 hours heavy traffic 365 days a year and 50km/h average speed…. Just want look bad ass among the 125cc scooteers in Asia but not fan of the engine heat…anyone?

    • @wadeonwheels
      @wadeonwheels  Рік тому

      It is liquid cooled so the heat gets mitigated some what. But every motorcycle is going to give off some type of heat. Now for your situation 1100cc might be to much. They have the 500cc version that might be better on heat and ease of use. If you don’t go very fast in your daily riding the 1100 would be way to much to handle in stop and go. That’s my opinion anyway, no reason to have all that power if you can’t use it.
