I had to smile when you said you were using peppermint oil to flavor the chocolate. It brought back lovely memories of childhood. I was born & raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, & still live there. When I was growing up, and when my family was able we went to the local drive-in theater in the summer, they had a playground for young'ns to swing, slide, & climb until it was dark enough for the movie. While playing in the fresh air, there was always the scent peppermint in the air, because this drive-in was located near a factory that distilled & extracted peppermint oil.
My favorite sweet made with Ritz crackers are putting peanut butter between two crackers and then dipping them into melted white almond bark!! Soo good! My mom made them every year for my bday parties. Ah, nostalgia! I can’t get enough of it!!❤❤❤
I've made these before. I love LorAnn Oils and have used the orange oil in place of the peppermint to make these cookies. They are great for homemade buttercreams too; so many flavors to choose from.
I learned to make these before you were born, Emmy! Our Girl Scout troop visited a local bakery. Mrs. D told us we could make fake Mints using Ritz crackers, and they'd taste just like ours! We didn't believe it, but it's true! Thin mints are best FROZEN with a glass of milk.
I've made homemade versions of tagalongs with ritz once and I honestly think they're better than the real thing lol. any time I have real tagalongs I think "I should just make these..." but I never do. it was a one-off thing I decided to try for 4th of July one year and I REALLY need to do it again, highly recommended!
I've made these without the peppermint oil for Christmas gifts. They are delicious! They also are good sandwiched with peanut butter or Nutella before dipping in chocolate.
Anyone who doesn't think Emmy would be the loveliest friend to have in life can leave the planet now! I'm an old grump and I still find her absolutely delightful!
@emmymadeinjapan we love you. You should have millions of subs, let's blow this girl up, she is more than worthy and so relaxing and fun to watch. I love #emmymade
You could definitely make variations using orange or lemon oil, or white or milk chocolate, to have a selection. Make sandwich cookies by filling them with Nutella or marshmello fluff before coating them. Even peanut butter would be good. I can see myself spending all day making different little cookies like this.
So fun. Also please more icebox dessert recipes for summer! I made an icebox lemonade pie last night and it was a hit. 1 tub whipped topping, 6 oz thawed lemonade concentrate, and one can sweetened condensed milk. Fold together just until combined and spoon into a prepared graham pie crust. Freeze min 4 hours and thaw 15 min before serving
Hi Emmy! My partner and I recently tried and fell in love with one ingredient banana faux ice cream-definitely recommend it and our kiddo loves it too. The only tricks to figure out are how you prepare the banana, how ripe it is, and how much you blend it (until it has the texture of custard ice cream)
A little corn syrup in the chocolate would give it a glossy finish. I would do that with 90% cacao dark chocolate. Perhaps a little clarified butter as well. That being said Emmy knocks it out of the park yet again.
I’ve done these since I was a kid and it’s shocking how close they are! I actually prefer the saltiness but if you’re not into salty sweet you can use the lower sodium crackers.
I'm going to try this with Oreo Thins in the original flavor and also the Oreo Thins in the mint flavor so those should *really* taste like GS Thin Mints!
I saw the Ritz toffee and marshmallow desert yesterday and was going to comment on it and then saw this today. I have made in the past Ritz "Reese's Cups" make pb sandwich with the Ritz and dip them into chocolate 😋oh and I had never used the Ritz for the toffee but used saltines , love your channel
If you want your chocolate to set more like the cookies, add a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil to your chocolate. ❤. You'll get a nice shiny finish. 😊
I'm going to try this for sure-Thin Mints are my favorite!!! Peppermint oil has so many other uses, too- it can help soothe an upset tummy and it makes a great insect deterrent. Ants and spiders hate the stuff and extract won't work the same way.
I'm not a huge fan of mint but i will try these. My son loves ritz crackers and chocolate mint. I actually just finished making the cream cheese you made in a past video. I made plain and a garlic and herb flavour. Quite tasty 🙂 Thank you for all your videos!
My cousin who's a surgeon, uses peppermint oil inside his mask during surgery in case it's reaalllyyy gross to keep him from getting ill. Very, very potent.
Another excellent cookie using Ritz crackers is to spread creamy peanut butter between two Ritz crackers then submerge the peanut butter sandwich cookies into chocolate coating liberally. When you bite into them you get a Butterfinger type texture with a chocolate coated creamy peanut butter cookie.
The first time I saw this video it gave me an idea for a Christmas cookie I’m going to make soon. I have mini Christmas cookie cutters and I’m going to use them with a chocolate sugar cookie recipe and then dip them in the mint chocolate and drizzle with white chocolate and Christmas sprinkles.
Ok I am definitely trying this. I have everything I need. Even the peppermint oil. And Emmy, Walmart has their own version of thin mints. I believe Trader Joes has them as well. Please consider having a taste test video during the next Girl Scouts Cookie season. 👍😊
Emmy you should make those cookies using the chocolate oreos cookies. Just scrape of the creamy center. Then I think you would have a Thin Mint cookie that would be closer to the Girl Scout Cookies. I hope you try this and make a video of it. Much love to you and your family. ❤❤❤
My goodness, I don't know how many would have actually made it to the cookie sheet after the dip and flip, lol. Every time you lifted the fork & cookie out of the chocolate, I imagined it going straight into your mouth... which is most likely what would happen if I tried to make these lol. Some would make, maybe...
I love mint and chocolate together. York Peppermint Patties are one of my favorites. Off subject but did you know the light bulb by you stand mixer is out? 💡
I could be mistaken, but I believe she’s loosened the bulb just slightly so it intentionally stays off. Doing so would keep all “lit” bulbs above the backsplash, and provide a more even dispersement of the bulbs. In my opinion, having one random bulb lit up in that location would throw off the balance of the accent lighting, and stand out in a negative way. But who knows! 🤷🏻♀️
Please make a Burmese dessert 🙏 There are many easy recipes that would be great for your channel. The category I’m thinking is halwa for example San Win Makin/ Shwe Gyi Mont, tapioca halwa, Shwe htamin, or even kyauk kyaw (although that one isnt my favorite).
I prefer to have this as a treat. I only buy from Girl Scouts. The girls ( mine included) had little access to fundraising for trips. However with all the fun variations suggested it will be a fun addition to the dipped-in-chocolate things our family does.
When Emmy says that peppermint oil is Very strong, she is Not kidding! I've bought some and tried making my own mint tea by shaking it into tea bags. Two drops of it is Over powering, while just one quick shake into a tea bag is just about right.
For the viewers in the Philippines... since Ritz crackers are hard to find and expensive there in the Philippines coz it's imported item, just use the local Fita crackers, they're basically the same as Ritz 😆 or, if you want it a little sweeter, use Graham crackers instead
Turn Ritz crackers into Reese's peanut butter cups: Make Ritz peanut butter sandwiches then dip them into melted chocolate. Once cooled it tastes a lot like Reese's peanut butter cups. So delicious.
You could use mint chocolate chips. We have a company here in Wisconsin that makes so many flavors of chips from normal to things like carrot flavored for dog desserts!
I would try using Graham crackers, also for something thicker, try sandwiching 2 together with some peppermint fondant then covering with peppermint chocolate. xx
Andes sells bags of broken bits that they collect in the manufacture of their mints. I find them every year in the supermarket. One of the things that I do with them is to substitute for chocolate chips when making Toll-house cookies.
Variation of this would be to take a Ritz, smear a little bit of peanut-butter or Gnutella and use plain chocolate, either milk- or dark. Ritz crackers *are* salty as well as sweet, so if there's a salt-free version (haven't checked), that'd be better.
I could see the salt from the Ritz crackers adding an interesting dimension to the flavour. At the very least, I would imagine it'd intensify the sweetness of the chocolate.
Hey Emmy, I have always loved watching your videos. Your is so calming and the the way you explain is the best part. I will definitely try this recipe with my sister we both love chocolate dipped biscuits. Love from India
I dip Double Stuffed Oreos in melted Andes Mints every year at Christmas. Always a hit!!
OMG! Yum
Sounds fabulous.

Thanks so much for tuning in, and yes, I'm everywhere.

I make these frequently!!
I have funny videos in my page 🥰
I’ve made these 30 years ago as a chocolatier. They do taste like thin mints. We’re one of my popular items.
How cool!
Aren't they salty??
@@roachmorphine8018there's less salt in one of these than an actual thin mint lol

Well, 4th of July is coming up...
Make it a tradition! You can top then with festive sprinkles too lol
I used to make peanut butter sandwiches with Ritz, then dip them in a variety of melted chocolates. The kids always loved them
Oh god i need to make this
started breathing a little heavy just thinking about this
They are fabulous
I made them, I can confirm that they slap.

I bet chocolate "biscuits" (the shortbready-style crisp/thin cookie) would go well in these
Or Butter Biscuits.
Or gooey brownie squares. Like the mini ones.
@@Misshowzat great idea!
Yep, I'm thinking those Famous chocolate wafer thingys from Nabisco...
Nabisco Nilla Wafers (a vanilla wafer cookie) would probably make a good substitute. Wouldn't be salty, either.
The Goya Chocolate Maria cookies would probably be a good swap for the Ritz and closer to the original.
#BoycottGoya
We did this but with only 2 ingredients! Ritz and melted Andes mints and it tastes exactly like thin mints
We make these for Christmas! Everyone loves them :)
