  • Watch as Jamie (Sam Heughan) faces his judgment day. Standing side by side with Taran MacQuarrie (Douglas Henshall), these two fine actors fill the scene with tension and honor as the men they are portraying face imminent death. It is Taran who is first to have the rope around his neck, and even before he takes his last breath, Jamie is led to a rope of his own. Just as he is about to be hanged, Black Jack (Tobias Menzies) bursts in. Can he stop the hanging in time?

    Is hanging the worst execution?

I learned from high school. history that the general health was bad enough that some did not care if they lived to see the sun rise or set, when the peasants are being herded to the block, they hold their hands up and beg " merci ", it was not asking to be allowed to live but for the axe to have a clean edge so they did not suffer as other ways were used to kill them. Now when we get to the Revolution things were a bit better as Drs did have better tech, they still did surgery with dirty hands and very filthy instruments.
( blood type was not known so many died on the battle fields from bloody hands from that soldier poisoned others in minutes )
The guy that laments not being hung for something being ' Worthy ' to be hung for having done was from a very guilty mindset that in the end they wish the words of parents not heeded were soon silent.

In the mid-18th century, Scotts opposed to being part of Great Britain would definitely have distinguished Scotland from England as a separate realm.

Some were declared as Traitors for just asking a question they did not get an answer for. After all this is the Revolutionary timeframe and if you just looked like you would do something to cause trouble you were in a work gang or like here hung so you were not still around to be a problem latter.
England needs remember that WE the United States kicked the ass of the UK twice in 25 years, then 100 years later we were over there to save them and had to go back and do it again as we were not allowed to do it right the first time, and from what we see going on there now, I will forever ask what is or more to the point is NOT taking place and we will need to go straiten things out yet again.
