Thanks, still have some tweaking to do but it's running 15 mph according to my phone. I'll bet playing with jet and prop sizes may give a couple more mph.
i did same, except no rod .. i can get 19mph, with 2blade 7" peop// on the "shorttail" and its only on a 10ft.... Im goin for a true longtail, only because they get the propback furter behind the boat wake, and can get more top speed..
I cut each arm of the H off the central beam, then welded that to a pair of steel deep c clamps and reinforced with square stock. Not long ago Mudskipper had the transom mount listed on their website but I can't seem to find it now.
I found the transom your talking about it’s back on their website but how would you get that to work with the kit? It seems like that shaft is welded to the H bracket
@@raymondhumphrey6414 I looked on Mudskipper's website, but don't see the transom bracket for sale separately. I see they come with their full kits. I emailed them and they basically said they won't sell just the transom adapter, unless a person has bought a motor/motor kit from them.
Could you provide the link for the exhaust and air filter and reject kit that you bought on Amazon please because I just got a brand new mud motor and I’m happy with the speed but I just would like to know what products they are for later on when I’m ready to upgrade
I just bought one of these kits. I have read that you have to drill and tap the 2 blade props to fit but no one ever tells what size bit and tap they used. Could you provide that information?
I'd guess somewhere in the 13-14 mph range with a 7" 2 blade prop if you plan on bypassing the governor. My 1448 ran 13 with a stage 1 briggs. However the intake and exhaust runners on the predator head flow better than the briggs.
@@TheDuke539 thanks, you’re the first person that I’ve talked to that says ill get any kind of speed out of a 212 on a 1648. I know it’ll be underpowered but I just want to get out on the water
@@lolwhataim2391No problem at all. As I understand it width has a much larger effect on drag/speed than length does. Between the extra hull displacement and flat bottom it should be able to run real shallow.
To be happy with a boat that size I would do a Swamp Runner large kit with a 13 HP Predator worked in up to stage 2 or a more HP twin cylinder motor I run a 1232 with a Swamp Runner small kit and a 212 predator with out larger valves or a carb change but a rejeted stock carb a three angle valve job and heavier springs and everything else is stage 3 I wouldn't run this setup on anything bigger than a narrow 14'
Agree, Cut 1/2" or at the very least a very fat 3/8" off output shaft and you will be good to go. Does not hurt a thing, I did coat mine with Anti Rust and good amount of grease after
Prop size does make a difference in speed. My top speed with a 6.5" prop is 12 mph, 7" is 15mph and 7.5 is 17 mph. Engine power/maximum rpm is a big factor too. If your engine is still stock I'd upgrade to "stage 1" and bypass/delete the governor (high flow air filter, exhaust, rejet) that will give you 2-3 extra HP. Redbeard's garage has a 'road to horsepower' play list that shows, on a dyno, how modifications affect power on these little engines.
Look at that kill switch dangling there all by its lonesome.
Got me.

Up river. That's against the current. It will go faster with no current, or down river. Nice work!

Seeing you jet up the river is what made me want this motor. That will be badass, I'm interested to see what you think.
I see that the kit comes with an H bracket instead of a transom mount. How did you mount it?

The carb is a generic vm22 from Amazon and the exhaust is a mini bike exhaust cut and welded to a pit bike muffler.

What size main jet are you running. I can’t seem to get mine right.
So how many horse you reckon you're getting out of it?
Judging by the dyno tests Red Beard’s garage has done and speed comparison to my 15hp Mercury, I’d say 13.

I believe it’s stage 3. Has an aftermarket carb and exhaust, 275 brown box cam, billet connecting rod, flat top piston, and aluminum flywheel.
Which mainstream company would you get replacement parts from? Mudskipper?
I.E. bushings and props.
Yep, mudskipper parts.
Did the predator 212 bolt right up to the kit? Can you drop a link to the kit you used???
There’s a review on Amazon that says it won’t work with a predator motor, but it might be user error🤷 I think it should work
I had to cut 1/2 inch off of the motor shaft on my predator so that it would bolt up.
Like Brent said, the output shaft was 1/2" too long. You can either use a spacer or shorten the shaft. Other than that it bolted right up.

Thanks! Honestly I haven't noticed any issues with oil temp. Running Rotella T6. It's a new build, and my first predator.
It's an air cooled engine, why would it over heat? It's getting way more air that say if it was running a log splitter.
