You can tell from this interview and SNL that Adam really loves playing the role of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. He deserves better and I genuinely believe TROS is not the last we have seen of Adam as Ben.
I sure hope so. I think Disney screwed the pooch in seeming to kill him off (they also screwed the pooch in not letting the dyad defeat Palpatine together imo). I hoped that the lack of a Force Ghost meant there'd be an alternative possibility: like his body was snatched before it entirely became one with the force and some rogue Knight of Ren has it in suspended animation trying to figure out how to reanimate it (kinda like: SW: the Search for Ben Solo). The novelization doesn't give much room for that possibility but I still hope he comes back somehow.
Sadly, he already said in an interview that he was done and ready to move on from Star Wars. I think it's the last of Adam we will see in Star Wars :(
@@kristinpearson2929 Yeah, I heard that. It's understandable in a few ways. But in a couple years, he might be tempted to change his mind, esp. if he gets more fight scenes (he seems to really like those).
Lisa Kazmier Daniel Craig also said he’d cut his wrist than making another Bond movie. Give it a few years, maybe a decade or next. I mean in 2005 we thought PT is the end of the SW right?

I'd hope if the script is good and Disney/Lucasfilms is more certain of a trajectory, the right money would get Driver on board (college is expensive, eh Daddy?). I'd think he'd miss the physical demands, too, given his training in the military. We can only hope, though.

adam really valued kylo as a character. he’s even said in an interview that he fought to make him seem more human in some scenes.
a damn crime they had him dedicate 6 years of his life to a character who gets no lines in the final act of tros and DIES after finally finding happiness in the arms of the woman he loves.

The problem there in is that Kylo stopped being a character when he started being Rey’s love interest in The Last Jedi. The force awakens set the scene for what Kylo could be. Had they kept reminding us that Kylo was severely hurt while fighting Rey, it could’ve been even better as that’s a commonly used defense for saying Kylo is an idiot who can’t even fight a new girl who’d never used a lightsaber before. The problem is that they became too fixated on Rey and every other character sat idly by in the background, waiting for HER to do something. Rey is suddenly the best pilot, so now we don’t need Poe. Chewy sits in the background and does Jack squat. Leia serves as exposition and that’s about it. Finn is shoved to the side instead of earning his rightful place as a force sensitive stormtrooper turned Jedi who is in love with poe. There is so much creativity stifled in these sequels it’s depressing. Disney is the problem. They hover over these things like a black shadow and stomp out any ideas that could’ve been good. Oscar Isaac and John Boyega certainly aren’t coming back after how they’ve been treated. Adam driver is debatable, the fanbase that surrounds him is toxic beyond belief. Daisy Ridley could come back, though seeing as a large majority hate Rey with a burning passion that might be a no as well.
Hopefully his back gets better. Must hurt from carrying the entire sequel trilogy on his back

Well the character had basically been given up by his mother, father and uncle. Someone has to be protective of poor abandoned Ben.
I’m sure he was proud that this character who meant so much to him and went through internal turmoil that led him to do unspeakable things was able to find peace, return to the light, help his other half in the force to balance the force, and save her life.
He said he didn’t know how the third movie ended yet. Sounds like he expected Kylo to end up as a redeemed character, and even though he is, they killed him 15 minutes later all without dialogue so there was no room to explore the actual character. Redemption isn’t an immediate thing, redemption includes atonement, and he’d realistically be atoning for a long time. I wish we could have seen what Adam could do with that, from an an acting perspective.
tigerlily I really wish they had cut half of Last Jedi and half of Rise of Skywalker in favour of us getting that redemption arc. We saw what Adam Driver could do without dialogue, how he literally used his body and his facial expressions to convey just how drastically different a person Ben Solo was from Kylo Ren. It would have been incredible to watch as the films actually explored Ben’s journey - I agree, his death did not equal redemption, and given all he was capable of as a tool of Snoke’s, it would have been awe-inspiring to see what Ben could do by his own choice, for the Light, and also a message to people watching, that it’s never too late to make the right choices, even if you’re afraid of what it’ll mean to have to atone for your choices. Your death isn’t the only option. Such a shame we didn’t get that, and I think probably Adam Driver is disappointed at that lost opportunity too. He raised the standards in this sequel series, but I think he would have been extraordinary, portraying how Ben Solo had to reconcile his actions as Kylo Ren with his hopes for a better future than the life he has endured, and how he would likely have gone above and beyond risking himself on behalf of the Resistance and the people he comes to love to atone for everything he’d done in the past. I’d watch another trilogy just about Ben Solo’s redemption.
"The physicality of Kylo I am very protective over" aww, Adam, don't worry, even though TROS didn't do your character justice he deserved, we saw how much effort you put into portraying him and we are eternally grateful to you for giving us Ben Solo, the best, fan favourite, who stood out among other copy-paste characters.

Hayden Christensen trained for 4-5 years in lightsaber combat to perfect the fights speed and also is a huge Star Wars fan. Come on! Hayden deserves to be the force ghost of Vader!

The journey of Vader and Kylo is different...but the ENDING is the same. Redemption equaling DEATH. IF JJ truly wanted to create an ending to the saga than he should have let it's main character have an ending different from that of the prior Villian. Kylo/Ben should have lived. The saga then would have gone full circle for the Skywalkers.

I would've liked it if Rey died and Ben lived. I think he'd become some sort of a bounty hunter (which would be an interesting full-circle moment). With Rey living it's just kind of whatever...but with Ben living, there's a lot of potential for "the adventures of the rogue dark space prince." That ending would've left me hungry for more. The end of TROS just left me conflicted and confused--and rather let down.

I’m not gonna lie man I just wanna see this guy win such a genuine individual man that I can see has seen a lot of pain and hardship in life in general and a great actor as I’ve seen him do brilliant jobs elsewhere and even in the sequels, so disappointed shitting script and plot writing had a negative effect on him and the other great actors that were part of this trilogy 😒

To people wondering I think this comment is on reference to interviews. In red carpet Daisy said she went to cry in her car after watching the movie, and Adam said he was overwhelmed wkth emotions when he was in the plane, when it hit him that this project was over. Not exact words, but that's what I remember.

The first section is new, the rest was out already. I don't really get it why do they advertise The Rise of Skywalker with old footage of how Adam prepared for The Last Jedi. I hope it's not because they have no footage of him training for The Rise of Skywalker.

guero osvaldo that was why disappointed me, I wanted a longer final battle, it felt rushed to me, I loved the fight between the knights of Ren and Ben Solo, but it needed to be extended and who Choreographed these fights?
and the "fight" scenes were worse than kids playing with sticks.

I love that he insisted on bringing the all the acting stuff in through the physical/stunt stuff. You don’t get to see much of it, but he worked out a completely different fighting style for Ben (aside from Kylo). Those subtle changes in the character’s physical motions were especially important because he had so few lines toward the end.
