The real statistics say 75 percent of Americans are Overweight and 50 percent are obese. Americans taking drugs to combat it is "Mental Illness". It is not about food anymore. Ozempic alters your brain functions, as soon as you stop taking it you will go back to your old habits. Taking Ozempic just shows how lazy Americans are and how it is not going to be a permanent solution. All this is going to do is lower your life expectancy which is already dropping more. It's no laughing matter how dumb and lazy Americans are.

I’ve gained 50lbs since I hurt my back. Went to see a nutritionist to help me fix my diet and the first thing she suggested for weight loss was Ozempic. I said hell no. I’m not a diabetic and it causes loss of bone density and muscle mass. She was like whatever. Our healthcare system is a mess.

    • @JenLvsJesus
      @JenLvsJesus 5 місяців тому +8

I agree with you about our healthcare system 100%! I am skeptical of all Drs. I don't take any meds and I thank God I don't have to. I worked in a family practice and I saw the drug reps cuddle up to the Drs. Whatever drug they wanted to push....that's what was prescribed if it was needed or not! A few months down the road, it was a new pill. Of course you know....there's big, big money in pharma. And please don't get me wrong, I'm not speaking of all Drs., but I've seen in many cases with friends and family, the Dr. will NOT tell a patient what needs to happen without a drug. When I had a Dx of high blood pressure for the first time in my life...one, I was overweight. My Dr. prescribed meds. I went straight home, changed my diet and researched foods to help lower my blood pressure, within 6 weeks my BP was down 6 points and at 10 weeks, it was back to normal! The saying is true...we ARE what we EAT.

not to speak of the immense adverse effect on one's digestive system, absorption of nutrients especially minerals. Even diabetes management is over medicated. Honestly i thought my dad's doctors messed up his health completely with over medication that led him down a rabbit hole of creating one complication via the management of another. PLease do go to a nutritionist, do light exercises if that helps, drink a lot of water, watch your calories like a hawk , please do not go for medication as the first choice, avoid it if you can.

I’m a Pharma rep in the Gastroenterology space, I actually know the Ozempic and monjaro reps, we are seeing permanent medically induced gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach, in which movements of the stomach slow down almost to a halt and the patient vomits up anything swallowed) it’s a horrific condition that before modern medicine was a sure and painful death sentence.
We are watching one giant experiment unfold with this drug being prescribed for weight loss, that is not what these were made to be used for and most GLP’s don’t have the clinical indication for weight loss, making is actually illegal to prescribe for what they’re using it for. Only time will tell what the side effects are, I work with Gastroenterologists everyday and have this exact conversation.

We know the effects of low insulin. Increased cardiovascular function, fat metabolism, hormone regulation. That is a glp1 does. Just like a fast or a keto diet. If patients return to their old eating habits, that will cause far more detrimental effects than any GLP-1 ever could.

I’m in health care. The sad part is that people that actually have diabetes are unable to access this medication which is life threatening to them. This medication also slows the gut and can cause gastric atrophy. The side effects and long term effects will be scary. Also I’m curious as to how this will affect the pancreas of non diabetics in the long run. Diabetics take insulin because their body no longer effectively produces insulin which regulates blood sugar. When your body doesn’t naturally produce the right amount of insulin, the sugar can’t enter the cell, fat is stored and weigh gain occurs. The reason they’re losing weight is because the medicine is managing their blood sugar. My concern is how this medication will confuse the body. Why would you need to naturally create your own insulin when you have a substance that does it for you? Will it later make you dependent on insulin to manage this process?

Same concerns here. I had a patient taking this. Yes, she lost a substantial amount of weight. BUT she was also losing so much muscle that her legs were becoming weak. This patient was only in her 50’s & worked 10 hour days 6 days a week. After less than 6 months she was struggling to get through 8 hour days 5 days a week. These people need to understand (as you pointed out) that we don’t know the long term effects. That they are actually losing so much muscle, not just fat. They are not receiving enough education to be responsibly taking the medication. If they are going to take it (I wish they wouldn’t) they need to use it for a short term & plan on using the time when the appetite is decreased to reassess their relationship with food. AND TO EXERCISE! What is the point of losing weight if you are to weak to have a better quality of life?

I have been using a compounded Semaglutide for awhile now and I've noticed a few things.
First, the ones that have bad side effects, the majority have the same things in common. 1: They still eat trash, just less of it, 2: They are all on the increased doses and 3: They don't exercise. They are using high doses of these medicines in place of lifestyle changes.
My first round of it lasted 6 months and I never went above 0.5mg. I was also taking TRT at the same time. Went on a super healthy eating plan and went to the gym 6 times per week, lifting weights 3 times per week and cardio the other 3. Lost a lot of fat, gained a good amount of new muscle and no side effects. I since went off the Semaglutide while continuing everything else. Zero side effects, zero rebound and Glucose levels are perfect.
I am getting ready to do another round with the Tirzepatide used in the same manner. Less is more, don't stay on it long term and use it as a tool to help the diet and exercise.
The people blasting on 10-15mg per week for 12 plus months? Yeah, they are going to rebound or be stuck buying this expensive medication for the rest of their lives.

I’m a diabetic, and I only lost about 12 pounds; I was fine on the lowest dose, but as the milligrams had to be increased, I ended up with the worst stomach pain I have ever had. It lasted for hours, worse than the labor of both my sons; I probably should have gone to the hospital; many people end up with severe stomach issues; read the side effects because they are accurate; if I’m a diabetic, think of what someone who isn’t one can happen. If staying in the bathroom is your thing, then you will be happy until the pain hits. Food doesn't have time to process before it is flushed. Stop dieting at all and just make healthy decisions it works better and has no side effects.

@@RunninUpThatHillhI agree with the seed oils, but it's more then that. Indonesian's live on seed oils. Everything gets fried or cooked in these oils and they don't spare it. There's very little butter, so they would do a heavy smear of margarine on their breads, stir fry with an excessive about of oil in the pan. On the streets, restaurants and at home they had those 5 gallon containers of Crisco or ABC vegetable oils, so they weren't cooking with coconut or olive oils. It's more then the oils or we have a different oil in the USA.

IOW getting fat is just one way it destroys health. That's what I've read anyway.

    1. Only works as long as you take it. When you stop, you gain the weight back. It is a forever drug.
    2. It is expensive
    3. A common side effect is a serious condition named gastroparesis, a very serious paralysis of the gastro intestinal tract which can kill you. I have it (I've never taken this drug) and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
    4. Possible kidney disease (a condition associated with gastroparesis)
This is NOT something you want to mess around with. This drug should ONLY be taken when your doctor believes the risks outweigh the possible harm. Stay away from this stuff, people.

But unless you still eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise you aren't just gonna lose fat. You will lose muscle mass, connective tissue and put yourself at risk of malnutrition. Even assuming its "safe" in moderation for informed individuals to use responsibly, a drug like this will inevitably be terrible for the overall health of the people.

Once I was done with those doses, once again, Ozempic couldn't be refilled because it was on back order. Three months later, I was able to get it. Started it up again. Extreme reflux. We act so concerned when we hear about drugs like Fentanyl and Heroin, but there are lot of pharmaceutical drugs, some like Ozempic, that are so new to the world that no one really know the full effects, that are out there that people have no problem taking and giving no thought to the side effects or if changing their lifestyle can help them avoid those drugs in the first place.

If you think about it, the government has never been correct when it came to food and medicine. I remember when the food pyramid had bread as the main source of nutrition and everything else was to compliment it. Coffee as supposed to cause cancer than it wasn’t. Red meat was supposed to be as bad as sugar was. Margarine was the healthy replacement for butter. When it comes to drugs, the hiv drug was worse than the virus. Norcos and Vicodin created this opioid epidemic now. Covid vaccines was a lie. I don’t understand why people would still trust the government. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out cigarettes were good for you.

It's not just regulating blood sugar and decreasing appetite.
It's also slowing digestion. Makes you feel fuller, longer.
The side effect they are not telling you about is constipation.
    Potentially severe constipation.
I was given a trial, one month supply of Ozempic.
I did lose 10 pounds over four weeks.
But the last week I was on it, I only pooped three times. And the third time...I had to take several doses of a laxative and drink a full gallon of water (on top of my normal water intake) before anything would come out.
When The last dose of ozempic wore off I was sooooo hungry, felt like I hadn't eaten in days, I could not stop eating.
And the ten pounds I lost came right back on in barely a week.

100 years ago nearly everyone worked manual labor with much of that being hard labor. With the prevalence of machines very few are doing hard labor, its very simple. People ate bad food back then as well but at least they countered it with lots of exercise.

Not only did the bad food are these machines they wrked on do justice regardin weight, so did the effects the hard labor had on their bodies becuz now most of them, like me who wrked those hard labor jobs, r suffering from back issues!😂

@@PrettyNicky50 Maybe, body issues are exclusively due to bad postures when working such as using your back to pick up pallets which is a common mistake even today or not wearing knee pads. Twisting while lifting deteriorates the cartilage in your spine. Nothing changed regarding the poor of the great depression and today except food was harder to comeby and you did far more manual labor.

Evidence? RCT's proving that? Nope. If you have real legal and medical evidence, it is worth billions $$. Keep in mind even Tylenol and ibuprofen have had many negative affects of various people. 50 might die for 100 million live a better life.

I’m an OR nurse in an outpatient multi specialty surgical center. We are seeing issues with ozempic patients. Almost every day we are cancelling cases due to patients not stopping ozempic far enough before surgery. (I would say at least 5-7 days). The decreased gastric emptying is a huge problem and places patients in danger of aspiration. Also, the body rids itself of harmful things naturally. Why would you want to delay that process by slowing down your system? I’ve seen many ozempic patients with a similar gaunt look in their faces due to the muscle wasting. Once people stop the medication they will most likely gain the weight back.

I value my health too much to use any weight loss medication. A bit of fat won't kill you. I'm 20 lbs overweight, have lost it and got it back regularly but i'm healthy. I hope it works out fine for everyone.

People on Ozempic are most likely still going to eat the same bad foods, just less of them. So tragic that we don't have a government that cares about our own people

I appreciate this. I was thinking about it and realize that I would rather be a little over weight than deal with these side affects. I am in menopause and can't seem to stop some of this weight gain with the exercise and good food I am eating. I will just keep working on it.

I realize this is anecdotal, but this is my case. I'm on Mounjaro right now as a primary treatment for Type 2 diabetes. Over the course of my five months of treatment, I have lost 75 pounds and my H1C has gone down from 7.5 to 5.2. As far as the weight loss, I haven't experienced any of the hunger-suppressing side effects, and I'm constantly hungry. I attribute my weight loss to radically transforming my diet and living a healthy lifestyle.
Most importantly, I am no longer diabetic. My doctor is allowing me to stay on Mounjaro until I approach my goal weight, at which point I will start to taper off of it. At no point have I depended on the medication as a magical cure for weight loss. I do think that this medication is great in helping people who are committed to getting a handle on their diabetes, but I do fear that there are those that will abuse and take advantage of these newer medications.
