This era, and the unique shops/boutiques were fire. I remember when I used to take the train back in the day to look for this shop, and sadly it shut down before I had a chance to find it. I had to cop the retro just for nostalgia reasons. It was such a magical time, and brand new experience for me.

Dave is a pretty chill guy, and I learned a few things about skate, DQM, and sneaker culture from the man himself. Copped a pair, and I keep it with my collection; right next to my signed Blu-Ray copy of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. I like to see it as paying homage to "Crazy" Dave, a one-of-a-kind NYC artist. Respect to the OG! Fun Fact: If you somehow ever run into Dave in the streets of NYC; without context, just say the word "seven". Cracks him up every time. ("Seven" is a reference to the Kanye West TMZ interview, but edited by awesome shitposter, Much Dank, here on UA-cam)

The story was kinda surprising - I was expecting that because he'd made his shoe store look like a butcher with the name "meat" in the title that it would have then have been immediately obvious to him to make a sneaker which looked like a type of raw meat... but instead of getting the inspiration from inside his store, it came from when he went outside to buy a sandwich?! Weird... talk about not being able to see the wood for the trees.
