Dirt Bike Magazine's 2021 450 Shootout. Dirt Bike Magazine waited patiently for the arrival of the 2021 Gas Gas MC450F and the 2021 Suzuki RMZ450 to have a complete 7 bike shootout for our viewers. Unfortunately, we Suzuki was delayed by Covid-19 and the bike won't be in our possession for another month. With no changes to the Suzuki RMZ450, we acquired a 2020 model to throw in the shootout with the help of Simi Valley Cycles. We took all 7 of our bikes to California City MX Park in Southern California for videos and photos that you'll see here. We've been testing the majority of the motorcycles for the last 6 months at various tracks around California. We don't do 1 day tests and take our time so we can deliver a concise and comprehensive shootout to you before you spend your money at the dealership. We've broken down each model giving their strengths and weaknesses. Even though we picked a winner, this isn't the end all be all. This is our opinion after a days of testing. Each bike has great qualities that might fit what you are looking for.

That deep low sound of the Suzuki though. I love my 09 rmz450. Still looks like new with OEM plastics but I got gold warp 9 rims and a titanium RS4 yoshimura full exhaust and carbon pipe.
And i have ktm Honda and Kawasaki dirtbikes in my garage too

Electric start on a dirt bike was a real Game Changer, just watch the races, I like Suzuki its a shame the haven't stepped up to 2021
i dont plan to go back and forth about this (and wont), but i refuse to see how KTM is saving brands, they're just saving the brand NAMES and offering 3 bikes with small differences in componentry and settings. it doesnt change the fact that 3 of the bikes in the shootout all come off the same assembly line, like most department store riding mowers... not a fan and i own a new ktm, but that doesnt mean i have to agree with everything they do. regardless, great video as always!!
The 3 bikes produced by KTM are NOT the same. Do some research. Or better yet, listen to the description in the video.
supposedly KTM doesn't allow their dealers to discount their bikes like the Japanese do, so Gasgas is their brand to be priced competitively against the japanese bikes

I agree in large part with what you said. some brands they just buy and destroy and others they actually have saved at least the name. BMW destroyed Italian Husqvarna and then left a carcass for KTM to snatch up. The only thing KTM got out of the deal was the brand equity. They sold the intellectual property from BMW to gas gas who did not have the capital to develop it or use it. They bought husaberg essentially to acquire their intellectual property and then dump them in the van as soon as they acquired Husky. Gas gas would have probably disappeared so at least they saved the name a a la Husqvarna. It really been nice if They could have maintained each brand's original equipment as the gas gas off road bikes were excellent. Reverting back to some of the Cagiva Husqvarna models would have been nice too as those were good motorcycles. But platform sharing is probably the only way to make it work in a small volume research intensive industry like off-road motorcycling.

I really do wish you would share the lap times between the bikes and riders.
And if the differences aren't enough to rank them reliably - that's a huge takaway too, just get the one whatever calls to you or you score a deal on.
I loved this year actually got a new dirt bike and got to go riding like all the time because the little school work had took like an hour and a half plus we still had parties and stuff like on 4th of july, and birthdays and christmas and stuff

It’s a red ktm, everything on the bike is the same except for color
I do also believe wet weight with a full gas tank that the gas gas is the lightest out of them all

I owned one, I didn't feel like a winner. Sold it and bought 2020 Husky Rockstar, it is on another level compared to RMZ.
It’s cheap but it’s a dinosaur. No E start and heaviest of all bikes is a joke.
@@codenamenoob4973 it has changed. But thankfully it still has some old school traits, which I love. Pro circuit exhaust, high compression piston and a little suspension massaging and its one of the best. They are all good, but when u can buy an rmz with 5hr for 4-5k less than a husky, then u have a lot of room build it to you liking. Mine is wicked fast n handles phenomenal.
E-start is a non issue for me. Just a few tricks I got 9lbs off. U people are being geeks. I ride for enjoyment, not to hang with dorks who think they are cool b/c they ride a certain bike. My Zook with high compression piston n pro circuit exhaust n dialed in suspension is one of the funniest bikes I've owned.

This shootout reminds me why I never watch dirt bike magazine anymore, they have 0 opinions and every bike is a winner in there eyes. If something is bad, say it don't be so soft and useless. MXA is the best magazine because they are truthful and expose any flaws
Yeah MXA really puts everything on the table. They are the correct out of any magazines in my opinion. They really test the bikes for weeks unlike other mags that test them for a couple days. I always trust MXA for information even when buying a bike.
