He doesn't mince words, shoots straight from the hip, and always offers a great anecdotal response. He would be the ideal person to replace that pathetic rino sellout and traitor, Mitch McConnell, as the GOP Senate Leader. It probably went over most peoples heads when he mentioned the Capacity Factor (CF) of nuclear. CF is the percentage of time a generating station is online and producing electricity. Many nuclear units have a CF in the mid ninetieth percentile (93-96%). Nuclear units come on line and generate 24/7 for months and months and in many cases, year after year. I think the world record continuous run for a nuclear unit was over 900 days before they came off line for refueling and maintenance. By contrast, solar power has a CF of 18-25% and wind has a CF in the 40% range. Coal and gas CF are in the 60-80% range.
    What this means is that to replace a 1000 megawatt nuclear unit, you would have to install about 5000 megawatts of solar (and that is assuming utility scale storage is feasible).
    Bottom line, solar and wind have their place in the nation's generation portfolio, but trying to rely exclusively on them is akin to running a Shetland Pony in the Kentucky Derby - it just isn't up to the task.

    Where you spend your money shows what you believe. I try to only buy American. Its difficult and more expensive but its been a very rewarding and enriching effort. When I can't buy American (US motorcycle gear basically doesn't exist) i make sure I don't buy from countries that I don't agree with. Aside from being happier with what I own i have found American companies will be more willing to help if anything breaks or goes wrong. Just figured I'd share something that has made my life more fulfilling and maybe someone else might start to do the same. Have a nice day 👍

    What you do is what you believe. That’s a very Hebraic (Scriptural) concept. Like the Apostle James said “show me your faith without works, and I’ll show you my faith by my works.” Very true, very humbling. Like the representative said, self-responsibility and free will.

    Told as a kid in elementary school that all the trees and plants around us thrive off the Co2 we exhale. Told as an adult carbon = death of the planet. Told as a kid we’re heading into an ice age, then we should be concerned about acid rain, then as a teen about global warming, and now more recently, these same people realize their grift didn’t align with the bitter cold winters we’ve all been experiencing so now it’s “climate change”. It’d be a concern if the earth DIDN’T go through such climate cycles. Any simpleton can put two and two together and realize the earth’s been going through drastic changes long before we were even a thought in the universe. Might we be contributing slightly, perhaps, but there’s no way in hell we’ll ever “control” Mother Nature. That’s human arrogance at the utmost extreme.

    • @LB-yg2br
      @LB-yg2br Рік тому

      It’s human ignorance in the extreme you suffer from. We have known about the green house effect for over a hundred years, and we have known that plants require co2 even now. But we are simultaneously cutting down trees while pumping out more co2 than has ever existed in humanity’s existence.

    I wish nuclear wasn't constantly shoved to the wayside because of it's bad reputation. Yes, people died in horrific ways thanks to it. Compared to every single other form of energy production, it is still nearly the safest, only barely beaten by wind energy. If you campaign against nuclear, just know that we'll need to get the energy from something else then, and pretty much everything else is less clean and kills more people compared to the energy output, or it has other weaknesses. Coal kills over 1100 times more people for the same energy, yet nobody knows coal power plants as something that's particularly dangerous.
